'Middle Class Express' Makes a Pit Stop

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton's 'Middle Class Express' made a pit stop at an Iowa diner where the New York senator shook hands, enjoyed a loose meat sandwich and attempted to hand caucus cards to the Iowans inside.

Inside the Maid Rite diner, Clinton sidled up to the counter with Christie Vilsack (wife of former Gov. Tom Vilsack) and Ruth Harkin (wife of Senator Harkin.)

Clinton also spoke to one of the diner's waitresses, Anita Esterday. It was her first day on the job and she and Clinton shared a short exchange. Esterday who has three jobs and works 12 hour shifts, said to Clinton "both of my sons have worked since they were 14 years old"; Clinton told her, "I'm proud of you."

"I want you to take one of these from me and consider to caucus for me," Clinton said handing caucus cards to Iowa voters, as she left the diner.  One woman told Clinton she would think about it.

As Clinton exited to reboard her red-white-and-blue bus on her 'Rebuilding the Road to the Middle Class' tour of the Hawkeye State, she told as supporter: "My first Maid Rite, its fabulous!"

Anyone who works 3 jobs and has two kids who have worked since they are 14 needs more than a card and a smarmy bit of pseudo-praise from a creepy politician. The Dems need a genuine person, not this nightmare.

The nightmare is the economy of the Bush years. Any of the democrats, on their worst day would be a triumph of democracy over the damage that the GOP has wrought.

What has Bush's greatest success been?

Hillary only cares about her own ambition. She couldn't care less about this waitress.

Hold on to your wallets, and get ready for more grand jury indictments of many more Liberal cronies if she gets in.

Hillary is the best Republican running.

I like to joke that she's the worst combination of what the Right and the Left have to offer. She could run as either Republican or Democrat; her foreign policy is indistinguishable from all other candidates except for Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.

A Paul/Kucinich ticket? I'd pay to see that.

"bs detector," are you KIDDING ME?!

"liberal cronies"
AHAHAAHHAHAAH

What the HELL do you call this sham administration?

As far as I can recall, no "crony" of Bill Clinton caused the unexcusable major disaster like Brownie...

good luck with that

Hilary is such a fake. She has more faces than a thousand totem poles. From her fake southern, Elmer Gantry accent to her cackle she is one hundred percent (poli)ester. Plus all the baggage she brings. But don't expect to find any billing records in that baggage.

This morning on NPR, the waitress stated that Hillary, while getting her entire meal for free, all the while listening to this woman talking about multiple jobs to make ends meet, did not leave a tip! For shame! I'm going to send this woman a tip!

Turns out they did leave a tip.

They left a $100 tip on a $157 bill. It's unclear why the money wasn't split among the waitstaff.

After hearing that she didn't get her cut, a Clinton staffer went back and gave the woman a $20 tip.

NPR says they "regret" not talking to the Clinton campaign before running the story.
