Obama Aide Deploys for Military Duty
October 09, 2007 9:53 PM
ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: The war in Iraq is hitting the Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama campaign close to home. On Wednesday, Mark Lippert, one of Senator Obama’s top foreign policy advisors is deploying for active military duty.
"All of us are on pins and needles about him getting back," Senator Obama said in a town hall event tonight in Plymouth, NH.
Lippert, newly engaged, worked with the Senator for three years in his Senate office, and is now a volunteer Naval intelligence officer.
The campaign confirms that Denis McDonough will be taking over for Lippert as the Senator's Chief Foreign Policy advisor.
Obama’s comments came after a voter participating in a town hall questioned the Senator about Veteran’s benefits.
"We have a solemn obligation to take care of our soldiers when they come home. It’s not optional, it’s not charity," the Seantor said, "they’ve earned it."

Obama could never be a commander in chief without any military experience. The closest Obama can get to become a man and serving his country is his prayers for Mark Lippert. Mark should have run for President.
Obama can’t say this: AS PRESIDENT IT IS MANDATORY TO HAVE FRIENDLY RESPECTFUL DIALOGUE WITH all nations. The first responsibility of our government is to GUARANTEE the safety & security of our citizens. I am a past American Service Officer and Middle East Specialist with over 30 years of experience in the S.America, Middle East& Europe. AS President of the United States I am extremely well experienced internationally. Before our present War on Terrorism expands to become World War III.
Our lines of dialogue and mutual trust must be expanded to include all. This will make the difference between if we can work our way back to peace and mutual trust between nations in the Middle East or continue on our present path of misunderstanding and almost no dialogue.
I can add real Foreign Service Experience to work as your next President of the United States to
STRENGTHEN America's Role in the World. America must maintain strong but have respect & direct dialogue with all nations.
I am testimony to racism at the 2000 Global Democrats Abroad Convention and Regional Caucus. that year not one Black person from anywhere in the entire world who lives aboard was elected a delegates to go to the National Democratic convention in LA that year- very sad, very sad the democrats can talk the talk but when the Democrats give out the jobs they do no call.
So I quit the Democratic Party because they promise equality they demand the black vote but when it comes to helping the inner city or including blacks in the higher levels of the Democratic Party or A Democratic Government they just do not do it. The democrats just take the Black voters for a ride and give them nothing in return.
When Hillary get the Democratic Nomination and she does not chose Obama as her Vice President, dam it Walk on over to me and let me lead you into the New Republican Party with all the other minorities that have voted democratic and have only got no thing but promises. Since Rev. king anything changed I do not see it!
No jobs, Prison population of Black at record levels no re-entry programs you name it no thing has changed in 40 years. Even kissing Bill Clinton talk a good talk put what did he do but smile at you.
I wish to have you work with me in reforming the Republican Party to the original Party of Abe Lincoln where we all are welcome and we all have the same chance as a white man of getting a high republican Office. You may not be happy about Iraq, but the Bush White House is the most racial integrated in history.
Also my man at the Next United Nation Ambassador is Rev. Jesse Jackson, God bless that man
