October 04, 2007 5:13 PM
ABC News' Christine Byun Reports: In his first FEC filing, Former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson will report $9.3 million for the third quarter of 2007, with $7 million cash on-hand. The GOP hopeful has raised a total of $12.7 million since June 4th, when he announced he was "testing the waters" for a possible candidacy.
Thompson, the former lawyer and "Law & Order" actor, officially announced his intention to run in September.
His campaign says he has 80,000 donors, more than a quarter of which contributed online. Since Thompson officially announced his candidacy, the Thompson campaign says they have raised an average of $200,000 per day with the average dollar donation around $176.
In his first month as an official candidate, Thompson frequently visited Tennessee, his home state, for many of his fundraisers. He spent days prior to the Q3 deadline raising cash in Tennessee and Mississippi.

How can anyone run for the presidency who was a member of a committee investigating Watergate, who was leaking information to Richard Nixon! Included in that information was information regarding what the Special Prosecutor had, specifically Nixon's tapes! Nixon called Thompson "Dumb" and had his lawyer go over the questions he wanted Thompson to ask. Perhaps Nixon was right, not only about Thompson, but anyone who would vote for him!
