Bush and Gore: An Inconvenient Reunion?

Share

November 16, 2007 2:21 PM

ABC News' Jennifer Duck Reports: The man who hoped to win the White House in 2000 will finally be congratulated by the man who beat him in the end. George W. Bush and Al Gore will be face-to-face at the White House on Monday, November 26th.

Awkwardly, the President and former Vice President will meet at the place where Gore once thought he had enough votes to sit -- the Oval Office. Bush is expected to congratulate Gore and other US Nobel Peace Prize winners in a ceremony.

It's no secret that President Bush doesn't see eye-to-eye with most of Gore's talking points on the issue of climate change.

Gore, who also narrated a documentary about global warming called "An Inconvenient Truth," shares the Peace Prize with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

About the election result, doesn't the Constitution say that "if there is ANY question about the results, another election for that district is MANDATORY"? Therefore the 20,000 ballots thrown out would have been re-inserted. Gore by a landslide in that re-election".

Al Gore is an intellectual who is too mature and intelligent to worry about "someone else’s mistake” -as I'm sure he didn’t vote for Bush-in either election.

Wow... people actually think Al Gore is an intellectual??? First of all, most of the people making those comments need a dictionary. "Userper"??? As for "Global Warming" and the UN B.S. Climate whatever they call themselves... do a little research. The scientists had not yet finished their analyses (that's plural for "analysis") when the UN politicians told them how to write the conclusion of the report. This is why so many scientists threatened to SUE THE UN if their names were not taken off of the report. And if you would like to re-hash the election, Gore couldn't even carry his home state... the people who knew him best... and the Dems were the ones trying to disallow the absentee ballots of our military men and women. Why? People who serve the country know that Liberalism (Dems!) will destroy our country. If you hate a strong America so much, try living somewhere else and see if they tolerate your crap.

How anyone in their right mind could not recognize by now that America and the world would be so far better off if Gore had run the country the last 7 years is startling. Except when one considers that the "right" are not in their right minds. They've been conned by the Neocons and are no longer capable of an objective, reflective, critical minded view.

It is seven years later and as my mom used to say "turn the page" and that message is for both sides of Gore vs. Bush debate. Personally I hope Gore simply uses a good sense of humor at the ceremony and that Bush will be presidential. As for Scott's comments a strong America can tolerate both conservatives and liberals--Republicans, Democrats and Independents. The "love it or leave it" attitude does absolute nothing for an enlightened argument. As Americans it is our birthright to be able to either agree or disagree with each other. Something that unfortunately so many are forgetting to remember these days.

GoodGod, what's a Neocon? I'm a guy that uses common sense. Does Bush dissappoint me? Absolutely. He's an absolute wimp on our borders and BIG, big spending government is what is ruining our country. I just visited Ukraine. Don't tell me we have "victims" and terrible poverty here. You have no idea.

Kevin Scott, I don't think "love it or leave it", but work to make it better an if you're going to live here, BE AN AMERICAN. Not a European or Hispanic or Asian who "just happens to live here". And if you do hate America, why would you want to live here? (I don't mean YOU, you... just the general term) My problem with the Liberals is that they ignore everything that made America great. In some cases because they are compassionate but do not think, in some cases because they do not have those quatlities and in some, sad cases (ie Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and any number of politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle) because they can personally profit from their stance. I work with a die-hard liberal. She is smart, funny, committed and she works hard. We disagree on many things, but we respect one another. Hard work, solving your own problems, not looking for a handout, relying on family, friends and yes church INSTEAD of government... those traits are what made America great. NOT government doing everything for you... tie your own shoes and make your own way...

Dear George,

I just wanted to express my opinion and I think that is Hillary Clinton is going to win the election in 2008. I think that it is time to have a new face and person in the White House and she has the experience of doing it because now she is the senator for New York and she has been working very hard for the United States going around like the other candidates and speaking. I do think that the United States needs a new person in the white house.

Sincerely,

Karen

1) I'm sure Gore will leave his huge house (using the electricity of 15 families, get in his Big SUV, Drive with a motocade to his waiting Jet and Fly to pick us meet the president who will congradulate him on how earth friendly he is.

2) Hillary could not even take care of her husband properly while he was in office. I find it hard to believe she can take care of this country.

Mr bush phoning troops, for thanksgiving and saying "it was the least I can do"
is sick, when he would not leave the country when in the national guard.( prior to disapearing )

George W. Bush....America's version of Idi Amin.

So get over it!

I expect that Bush will congratulate Gore on his Nobel Prize. Other than that, I expect very little to be said between the two.

Though I do disagree that Gore should have won the Nobel Prize. The Nobel Prize has turned into a bad joke.
