New Attorney General Michael Mukasey to Take Oath

ABC News' Jennifer Duck Reports: The President will deliver remarks in a public swearing-in ceremony Wednesday for the new Attorney General Michael Mukasey.
Mukasey replaces former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales who was under fire in the final months of his career for the US Attorney scandals, warrantless wiretapping, and accusations of perjury while testifying before Congress.
President Bush will talk about the Attorney General's role in protecting America during a time of war and discuss Judge Mukasey's qualifications. After the remarks, Chief Justice Roberts will administer the oath of office.
At first, Mukasey's confirmation looked like a shoo-in in Congress but Mukasey became controversial when he refused to call certain interrogation techniques like waterboarding illegal. However, the Senate Intelligence Committee approved the Mukasey nomination to go before the full Senate and he was confirmed by the Senate on November 8th.
He was officially sworn into office Friday, November 9, 2007 in a private ceremony so he could immediately be briefed on national security matters.
