Clinton's New Face: Irish Peace Ambassador?
November 26, 2007 6:45 PM
ABC News' Kate Snow and Susan Kriskey Report: Seated at Jim and Judi Lanza's cozy kitchen table this afternoon, Senator Hillary Clinton once again claimed she is uniquely qualified to be the next President of the United States. But this time she bolstered her argument with some new specifics.
At a made-for-cameras conversation with the Lanzas and three other New Hampshire voters, Clinton was asked by Mrs. Lanza about diplomacy. She also mentioned criticism she hears from friends and neighbors that Clinton has never actually run anything.
Indeed in an interview with Nightline's Terry Moran, Senator Barack Obama said Clinton's resume is "not the strongest resume of the people on stage."
"I feel very well equipped for the job because I had the very unique experience of seeing it over eight years," Clinton said. "Having now been in the Senate, I understand better what we really have to do to work across party lines," she added.
Clinton again said she was "the face" of American policies abroad during her husband's two terms as President.
"Well, you know, what I did during those eight years-- in partnership with obviously my husband and people like Madeline Albright-- was to try to be the face of American policy in a lot of different places," she said.
She cited 82 countries she visited as First Lady. She quoted her line from a famous speech in China, in which Clinton equated women’s rights with human rights.
Then she added a new line-- that she had a role in the Irish peace process. "I was deeply involved in the Irish peace process," Clinton said. "And I know it’s frustrating. It took years before the Catholics and the Protestants before Sinn Fein and you know, the DUP would even talk to each other," she added referring to the once-warring parties.
"I mean George Mitchell sat at a table sometimes for hours and nobody would say a word or if they would they would say: 'would you tell him this?' Or 'here's what I think'. And that went on for years. But eventually there were breakthroughs. You could build enough trust and connection."
Clinton said "diplomacy is "the lifeblood" of a good foreign policy. "This administration has almost seemed allergic to diplomacy," she said.
"I am hoping and praying that something positive comes out of the Annapolis meeting," Clinton said. "I can certainly tell you that I intend to be very very vigorous diplomatically."

There is no doubt in my mind- nor has there ever been- that Senator Clinton could effectively run this country, let alone try to bring country's/region's together.
My only hope is that if/when she gets the chance, the Kenneth Star's of the world have ALL been sent to their respective places!

rebecca: Your opinion is based on What?
Hillary Clinton couldn't even stop her
philandering Husband, President Bill
Clinton from Disgracing the Whitehouse with an Intern! If she can't run her own
house how can she possibly run this
country?

I used to have a very high opinion of Hilary Clinton but of late she is coming across to me as a con artist who is desperate for power grab and can say and claim anything and everything.
First Lady is not elective office and hence has no job classification and accountability.
Madeline Albright was the US Ambassador to the UN and later the US Secretary of State. Her position was subject to senate confirmation and oversight. If Hilary advised Albright on foreign policy issue, it is more of voluntary service, which is not binding on Albright to accept and execute.
Now again, Hilary is claiming to have contributed to Irish peace process. But the man put in charge for the peace process, former Senate President, George Mitchell was as good as it gets.
Could it be that Hilary Clinton claiming is claiming that Cabinet Secretaries under Bill Clinton were not up to the task and needed her help. One thing is beginning to be much clearer. Hilary Clinton is claiming involvements in the works of former cabinet secretaries that are today supporting her candidacy for president but she cannot claim on others who are not in her camp today. Hilary cannot claim involvement in labor policies under Secretary Robert Reich or energy policies under Bill Richardson or Federico Pena. These people are not going to go along in supporting her false claims. It is pathetic that Hilary has come to this sorry level in order to win Democratic nomination.

Dude, what about the White House tour guides? They've been there a long time. When do they get to be President?

OH THIS IS A NEW ONE!! Now she is the one who brokered peace in Ireland?? I mean how much more of this woman are we supposed to take?
PT Barnum said there is a sucker born every minute...we'll see how many of them showed up once the votes are counted.

Keep'em coming Hillary! The more pathetic claims you make now, the more research will be done to prove you wrong when it counts closer to election time...thanks for digging your own grave!

She has never worked across Party lines, unless it was the Commie Party. She hates Republicans and cannot work with them. Rats can't work with anyone unless they are Demented like themselves.

Carole, on what basis do you claim that she has never worked across party lines. I guess you mean she has'nt reached out like Bush has. His administration is filled with plenty of positive examples of bipartisan cooperation. Also this communist slur I hear quite often is remenisent of the Mccarthy era, I guess it fits with the current administrations views on human rights and individual freedoms. And as far as hateing republicans, she's more republican than george Bush is. he is so far out in right field that Hillary's moderate views are actually more in line with the traditional republican platform. I have actually heard of many republicans who are backing Hillary. People need to stop demonizing and attacking her and use clear judgement. The woman is intelligent, gifted, tallented, articulate, and has a genuine desire to lead this nation. Say what you want about her, but she truely is experienced and capable of running the country. If Bush could do it anybody can and Hillary is far more experienced and mentally capable than Bush was.

So, Mr. Kellogg, you state:
"People need to stop demonizing and attacking her and use clear judgement."
Too bad you couldn't do that for the last seven years with Bush.
Why is it that you can't discuss Hillary without slamming Bush?
Oh, and I like your new campaign slogan for her "she's more Republican than Bush". Keep preachin' it brother, I'm sure your 'moderate' dem friends will sure vote for her after hearing that! What? OH, so that makes her sound like a hypocrite in front of the Moveon crowd? Hum....you just can't win, can ya.

Gee, I've been to a lot of countries...and I actually ran a construction company. Maybe I should be President!
She is so full of baloney and apparently she can't stop herself from spewing it out. I've heard her called a malignant narcissist from those who understand what that is. God help us if she actually pulls this scam off.

Hillary Clinton is doubtlessly qualified to be President. In addition to what she has said we ought to remember how cleverly she handled the problems that occurred during the eight years she was First Lady. A lot of the flourishing results of the nineties are owed to her.
Posted by: Gezahegn Negash | Nov 29, 2007 2:12:25 AM
Gezahegn what are her qualifications exactly? One term in the Senate? And by cleverly you mean....deceitful, dishonest, manipulative...etc. Her cleverness was helped in large part by the main stream medias love affair with the Clinton's. Mark my words, if Bill Clinton's administration would have coincided with the blogosphere you can guarantee he would have been a one term president. And let's not forget that the economic boom that the Clinton's fostered what in large part to the dot com's which turned out to be alot of investment in nothing...poof. Take your blinders off man. The Clinton's are crooks, always have and always will be.

The only thing more pathetic than HIllary and her constant string of lies are the her Blind faith followers. I would never accuse Hillary of not being intelligent but there are plenty of people who are far smater than her who also posess this thing called integrity. She has zero integrity. What actual accomplishments can she claim. HIllary may be intelligent but that can't be said for her die hard followers.
