ABC News' Raelyn Johnson Reports: At an event with a focus on foreign policy, former Sen. John Edwards D-N.C., chose to take issue with President Bush, rather than his top Democratic rivals who have been sparring of late..

After slamming Bush on trade issues during a speech to the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council Edwards was asked how he would try to evolve governments such as those as Russia and it's eastern European neighbors.

Talking about Putin Edwards quipped, "I know George Bush looked into his eyes and saw his soul, that gave me great comfort.," adding "I wonder if he saw in his soul that he was going to completely take over the governement."

Edwards went on to talk about how he once met with a Russian presidential candidate who was faced with the challenge of campaigning with no access to major media as it is controlled by the Kremlin.

Said Edwards, "It would be like running against Bush when Bush owns the media you know," adding," they do have Fox News.

When Bush owns the media. Right. The day after the CNN fiasco. Uh huh.

"... when Bush owns the media you know..."

Dems have been out of it, really, since about 1796 or so. Oh, but for more Dems like Lieberman or Scoop Jackson...

Don't be a Glutten, Mr Edwards!
You Dems have ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS,
C-Span, The New York Times, Newsday,
The New York Daily News, The LA Times,
The Washington Post etc!
Does it bother you so much that you Dems don't own or control Fox News Too!

CNN is planting Democratic questioners in presidential debates left and right, including last night's, and morons are still whining about Fox News being "biased". Laughable.

Yes, the press is left leaning. I agree. Maybe 55:45 or even 60:40. 65:35? But isn't that what we want the press to be? To challenge authority, to question established, growing organizations? Particularly in an environemnt of closer ties with corporations and Congress. Eisenhower, the Republican, warned of the military congressional industrial comple. It really is the coporate congressional complex that is writing the rules. Who's asking us to be better than that?

Edwards's bold and forthright statements on this and other issues are indeed a welcome relief from the sidestepping and evasion we've witnessed during this campaign.

Go Edwards! Keep speaking for the PEOPLE! No one else seems to be.

Edwards has done incalculable harm to women's health issues. His firm's bogus lawsuits against OB/Gyns has singlehandedly and dramatically increased the number of unnecessary C-sections, and that has lead to unnecessary deaths - not to mention outrageous health care costs that have funded his lifestyle (and bad haircuts).

But the liberal media never says anything bad about one of their own.

66:35? The last poll done by Harvard put it at 90:10. Not healthy at all.

Right wing extremists are always ranting about the 'liberal media', a thinly veiled and largely successful propaganda campaign to coerce ‘mainstream media’ to give more favorable media coverage to themselves. Fox News is simply an in-your-face organ of these Neocon loonies that have taken our country down the drain in Iraq and at home. Independents and Libertarians should abandon these guys and their tactics. To that extent it’s gratifying to hear that some serious presidential candidates are pointing out these folks and their media outlets.

Edwards has a short memory. CBS News did its best to torpedo Bush's 2004 campaign by reporting a story based on forged documents.

Here's challenge for you: watch FOX and see if there are any Democrats included in any of the discussions or if different, more conservative viewpoints are presented. Then watch MSNBC, CBS, CNN etc and see if it happens there as well. It won't. Those networks think that if they include a moderate Democrat then that is being balanced. Usually the not-FOX people will trot out RINOs or so-called Republicans like McCain who are willing to trade TV face time for a negative remark or two about the Administration or other Republicans. That is not the same as having a variety liberal people on who get a chance to present their views. Al Sharpton is probably on FOX more than he is on all the not-FOX channels combined. Most of the Democratic leadership is AFRAID to go on FOX even though they are continually asked to. They are AFRAID. AFRAID of their own wing nuts. That is hilarious and frightening at the same time.

FOX to me tries to be somewhat balanced. The not-FOX media makes no effort to be. CNN latest efforts are a perfect example. It was pure BS from the git go. They had an agenda and it wasn't to be fair to the candidates or to the audience. They got caught because they thought no one would notice. The Democrats watching didn't for sure. They wouldn't recognize bias in the media unless it had the word FOX attached to it.

Attempting to teardown the character of another candidate to enhance your own chance of winning, illuminates the true value of your own character, for those who do not share this moral flaw to see.

Who you elect reflects who you are. When we leave this life our character is all that we take with us on our journey.

Media bias? Go read the recent Harvard and the Project for Excellence in Journalism study that confirm the amount and nature of liberal bias in the media. The numbers are so damning that the media totally ignored the story. No wonder Bush's poll numbers are in the tank.

A sample:

Democratic candidates received 49 percent of television's evening network newscast stories, while Republicans got 28 percent. And 39.5 percent of the Democratic coverage had a positive tone, while 17.1 percent was negative. But for Republicans, only 18.6 percent of the network evening news coverage was positive and 37.2 percent negative.

And the Democrats still have problems winning elections. Wonder why?

"It would be like running against Bush when Bush owns the media." He's describing the case of Ron Paul. The media has already chosen Hillary and Rudy the Rat as the candidates, and they go to great lengths to keep the great Ron Paul's name silent. US media should be ashamed.

CNN's Rick Sanchez jumped all over the McCain supporters remark calling Mrs Clinton a "B---h. But never reported on the racial remark by a Demo in LA, who called her supporter (Buckwheat). Right, no bias on CNN.

What a Moron. This guy is a boob. Has he never heard of CNN - the Clinton News Network.

Is a bit of a overreaction. Who really takes Fox News seriously? It's just a bit of good sensationalist entertainment, the kind you watch after a long day at work, so you don't have to think like Entertainment tonight. No-one really considers it serious journalism.
