Rudy Calls Out Dem Rivals in New Ad

ABC News' Jan Simmonds reports:  GOP presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani released his fourth television ad Thursday, which focuses on the former New York City Mayor's record on taxes and, for the first time in a TV ad, challenges the Democratic frontrunners by name.

The ad, entitled "Promise," charges that his Democrat rivals would raise taxes if elected president.  Watch the ad HERE.

Giuliani specifically names the three top Democratic candidates -- Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards -- saying that they have already promised to raise taxes and ensures viewers that this is one promise he is sure they will keep.

"I know that reducing taxes produces more revenues.  Democrats don't know that. They don't believe it," says Giuliani, sitting in a library-like setting.

"Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, here's a promise I assure you they'll keep. They are making the promise to raise taxes.  The only thing I can tell you in addition to that is they'll raise taxes even more than they promise," Giuliani continues.

In a twist of irony, considering the new story that surfaced Wednesday that questions whether Giuliani misappropriated the costs of security that was afforded him during trips to the Hamptons, a main theme of the ad is also accountability.

At Wednesday evening's CNN/YouTube debate in St. Petersburg, Florida, Giuliani and his campaign tried to quell the story saying the then-mayor did nothing improper, but questions remain about the apparently questionable accounting of his security.

As with the campaigns previous television efforts, the ad will air in the Boston television market and in New Hampshire.

you can smell the republican fear . they know its payback time and they are quivering with terror at the prospect of an aligned democratic government that can force legislation down their throats, the same way THEY have been treating the minority democrats for the last 8 years. they SHOULD be worried ,because when that happens ,well the way things work in this country are going to be done very different ,very quickly.

all the republicans care about is money and less taxes so they can have more money , now watch how they will try to spin to the ignorant american voter a story of how the rich libs will raise taxes on the poor widdle old republicans...

they have good reason to fear ,if hillary or edwards gets into the oval office they are toast for at least 8 yrs. they are pulling for barrak to divide the democrats (just like he is doing),hes a lacky too ,the republicans know they can buy him out anytime.

obama is a republican plant i think as well , he is the biggest and best thing for the republicans ,hes a divider of the democratic ranks.

we all need to pull together and make SURE there is a democrat in the white house ,and obama is UNELECTABLE YOU MORONS!! so quit pushing for him you are only making the republicans stronger.

Within the last year, Rudy stood before the TV cameras defending Bernard Kerik and Monsignor Alan Placa, two devoted friends accused of unconscionable crimes. Kerik was Rudy's mayoral chauffeur and ended up being commissioner of the New York Police Department, a partner in Rudy's consulting firm and Rudy's nominee to President Bush for director of the Department of Homeland Security. Then there is Rudy's dear old friend Monsignor Alan Placa. A recent ABC News story cited Placa as employed at Giuliani Partners, "though he's been credibly accused by a Long Island grand jury of both covering up and engaging in child abuse," of two former teenage students and an altar boy. The report noted that Placa toured Italy recently with Rudy and his latest wife. Rudy has distanced himself from buddy Kerik, he has stayed loyal to Placa, saying on YouTube: "I know the man. I know who he is, so I support him." As a prosecutor, Giuliani dismisses the investigators, prosecutors and the Suffolk County grand jury's acceptance of the multiple witnesses whose testimony of Placa's abuse was accepted as trustworthy. The grand jury determined that Placa suppressed valid child abuse complaints, asking that victims not be told he was a lawyer and bragging, in print, that the diocese he counseled had the "lowest ratio of losses to assets of any diocese." In dismissing the judgment of the grand jury, Giuliani dismissed the extensive evidence the panel had analyzed and adjudicated. Now, we find out he hides money paid to his security detail so that know one knows he is cheating on his wife. There is only one person that I would vote for, the one person who tells the truth, never voted to raise taxes, and voted against the illegal and immoral Iraq invasion. Restore the Republic vote for Ron Paul

Do we vote for the "party" or the person!! Don't be an idiot, there is no party that can be trusted...maybe we can come up with a person that can be trusted ya think???

I at times wonder if I am watch the same debates, rally or gathering that ABC is reporting. I have read comments on here that either the person writing is totally unimformed or Totally biased.
The reporting that is being done TOTALLY SUPPORTS THE PARTY'S CANDIDATE and THE LOBBIST'S CANDIATE, HILLARY CLINTON. But when all is said and done the people will make the final decision to Nominate and to Elect barack Obama.

then maybe the news reporters may get the message, WE DON'T TRUST YOU AND WHAT YOU WRITE AND WHAT YOU REPORT.

She needs all the help she can get in all of her life. She can get all the help she needs but the fact is she's not going to win the nomanation

I think if Hillary wern't a Clinton she would have done better in the primaries as she much of the right stuff, just the wrong campaign. Having Bill and memebers of his old cabinet campaign for her just ruined it with the voters who don't see them as relevant anymore. When Hillary is just herself and shoots from the hip she comes off so much better than when she is "managed". Clearly Bill is very angry at what sapped his presidency but this isn't of interest to the voters, but rather a big turn-off. I think she should have just moved out of the house and gone her own way. Also the hint of her being entitled to the election as a foregone conclusion also annoyed the voters and her haveing experience argument just didn't sell. If she had simply campaigned humbly, in earnest, emotionally available, and gotten out some policies she would have done so much better.

I am tired of Clinton and the dirty tactics that is old politics and I want to see a cleaner way to do things. When you bash someone and you have your own dirty laundry how can i trust you? I was for Hillary but since she went so low she has lost my trust. And the crying thing PLEASE that is not ready on day 1 . I am not ignorant so I also know the cabinet you pick needs experience not the president. Right now Hillary has swayed me toward OBAMA.

Who knows Hillary can still win. I love her ability and her perseverence. Go ahead Hillary.... I am almost sure you will win in this race. Victory is waiting for you. Just remember whatever you promise to your people. God bless!
