An Inconvenient Due Date
December 28, 2007 5:54 PM
ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: In the final days before the Iowa caucus, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has been hotly seeking undecided voters.
Obama told a town hall in Coralville, Iowa that he’d only be able to take questions from voters undecided about which candidate they would vote for.
The first question came from Emily Plank, a pregnant woman, who as Obama said, was "a little self-interested" in her question about the Family Medical Leave Act, which covers maternity leave.
Plank said she was an undecided voter, but Obama soon found out, she may not be able to caucus at all.
"I'm actually due on the third," Plank said.
Obama laughed and said, "Oh no! Well now that presents a tough choice, have a baby or caucus for Obama? I think you’re going to have to go with the baby thing."
Then Obama, himself a father of two, gave advice to the soon–to-be new mother: "First ones are always a little bit late. It won’t be till the 4th or 5th."
Plank told ABC news after her exchange with the Senator that she is no longer undecided, she's going to caucus for Obama as long as she is not in labor.
Plank said that her husband, an Obama supporter, "has been pushing for the doctor to induce early so we can be at the caucus."
The Planks are expecting a girl, and joked that they were considering feminizing the name "Barack Obama."

Ez and Em-
Sure, Obama had some good parental advice--but what was his answer about the Family Medical Leave Act?
Love to you both! And remember, Ez, don't do ANYTHING during Emily's labor unless she asks you to do it. Praying for all three of you!
