Bill Clinton Won't Attend NSC Meetings in a Hillary White House
December 29, 2007 2:41 PM
ABC News' Jonathan Greenberger reports: If she makes it to the White House, Sen. Hillary Clinton said today her husband will take on the same responsibilities as traditional presidential spouses, with no access to National Security Council meetings.
"I think he would play the role that spouses have always played for presidents," said Clinton, in an exclusive interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos. "He will not have a formal, official role, but just as presidents rely on wives, husbands, fathers, friends of long years, he will be my close confidante and adviser as I was with him."
The candidate said having President Clinton participate in National Security Council meetings "wouldn't be appropriate," and in a crisis situation – like the one faced by President Bush this week after the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto – President Clinton would not sit in on discussions with his wife’s national security team.
But Sen. Clinton did say she expects the former president to play a role as an informal adviser to the White House staff.
"I'm going to expect that people in my administration will turn to him and rely on him, as we do with many people who have experience," she said.
Throughout her presidential campaign, Clinton has repeatedly said she would send President Clinton around the world on the United States’ behalf as a roving ambassador, and today reiterated her intention to do so, calling the former president "the most popular person in the world."
Clinton’s full interview with Stephanopoulos airs Sunday on "This Week."

Hillary has my support. She's the best candidate running.

Jee,
Bubba was impeached for lying about sex during a sexual harrassment trial-HIS OWN. He subverted, and perverted justice by lying under oath. No biggie to you liberal whack-jobs. Move to France.

Can we please stop even for a moment in using the Name Ron Paul. Oops I didn't mean to say it out loud. RP is the biggest liberal jerk and anyone who does a research on him will see how much of a liberal jerk he is.
Oops again, the RP folks will be on here to say how worng I am.
As for one point, being a LETS tell the truth person, WHile I hate Hillary, will do what I can to not ever see her win, I will say the myths of her defending a black panther back in the day, she didn't. She did not once inject a question to that case, She was on a college class legal aid team that sat by and watched the thing. . Thier is a big difference between sitting at a table and watching and getting up to ask question on it.
The urband legion-myth web site..www.snopes.com has this listed as being False in regarding HC, as does the other myths web sites. Go check what they say. IF you still think she defended this piece of crap black panther person way back, then I am sorry, you must have you head somewhere it smells.

Remember folks: This is the woman who said that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, but she was born 8 years prior to his climb of Mt. Everest. There isn't anything she won't say, write, be, to get your vote. She can tell me that the sky is blue outside when it is, and I won't believe her.

The above statements are from liberal Clinton lemmings that would vote for a deaf-dumb-blind pygmy as along as it had a "D" after it.

Doesn't she undermine her own argument that she got so much foreign policy experience as First Lady? Can't have it both ways, madame.

You Hillary supporters are such morons.
Theres no way she can win when shes looked at as the "most dishonest" and "most disingenuous" out of "ALL" the candidates.
Over half the country has said they would never vote for her and that was before her campaign screwups.
She cant even unite her own party!
Geez you guys are stupid.

Jee, when you cheat on your wife, all you do is give her a disease. When the President of the United States has to hide things from his own wife, he opens himself up to blackmail and coercion. This is why its a big deal. The United States Presidency isnt a license to lie to Congress. Say what you will about Bush, but Dont overlook the sheer idiocy of Bill Clinton and his lack of self control and devotion. If a man wont even honor his own wife, how can he honor---- oh wait, SEX IN THE OVAL OFFICE IS BETRAYAL OF POWER. It is arrogant and irreverant. Btw, President Ronald Reagan refused ever to take off his jacket in that same office because he didnt want to take away from its dignity.

Notice how "concord can" can only cower from the topic of Bethany's post and the article she is responding to.
Notice how "concord can" conveniently "forgets" that Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq war.
P.S., Al Gore lost the rerererererererererererererererererecount.
get over it, or seek help soon.

Such frustrated people. Having to resort to name calling - quite childish don't you think?
Never said I didn't have moments of being really ticked off at Bill Clinton, but in the big scheme of things it was up not up to impeachment level. Blackmail? Yeah right.
This is what will happen:
Hillary will be elected President and be re-elected in a historical landslide because the majority of the county, who are civil and have common sense (unlike the mean people on this site), will see she did great things for our country both here at home and around the world.
It will happen. Deal with it children.

Uh-huh, yeah...why don't we hold the coronation of Queen Mary Poppins and Prince Peter Pan right now and be done with it.

Hillary shouldn't "expect" anything in regards to the White House. She won't be elected. She's a disgrace to politics and to women and she will ruin this country if given a chance. She has no more "experience" than Obama has. Eight years as a White House enabler does not qualify you for the role of Commander in Chief. Eight years as First Lady (and I use the term 'lady' loosely) also does not qualify one for the role of President unless you also think Laura Bush, Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan and other First Ladies should run as well.

Based on the responses for her stated position, my sense is her handlers will advise her to revisit her position. I just can't imagine another 4 years of Clinton shenanigans at 1600 PA.

If Hillary is the best candidate running, I hope she keeps running, AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE.

To "concordcan": What "illegal war" in Iraq? Why do you looney liberals forget that both houses of Congress authorized military action against Iraq, just like they did against the Taliban. Liberals love to use the same old catch phrases like, "illegal war", Bush or Cheney are "war criminals", or that Bush/Cheney leaked Valarie Plame's position to the press (it was actaully an opponent of Bush). Please you left-wing nuts, come up with some new material.

Putanesque Bill. If he is returned to the white house and becomes a member of the inner circle, will he once again have interns on his executive staff?

"nd we are supposed to forget entirely about Travelgate, Whitewater, lost billing records, the Rose law firm, the Lippo Group, Johnny Chung, Harold Ickes, miraculous cattle-future winnings and lying under oath."
Yeah, and I'll forget about Blackwater, Halliburton, the Bolivian land purchase by Bush, Gitmo, US Attorney-gate, My Pet Goat, The Theft of Florida (c) 2000 Republican National Committee, The Theft of Ohio, (c) 2004 Republican National Committee, habeus corpus revoked, Katrina, "Heckuvajob" Brownie and stopping stem cell research, and then we can call it even.
'Kay?

I could bash GW for a near miserable past 8 years. I won't. I could degrade ALL of the other candidates about not being qualified to be President. I won't. What I will say is that of all of those currently "in the race," Hillary Clinton is the only one that can pull this country out of the bloody mess we are in. She is the most qualified. So, for all the Hillary bashers, deal with it and prepare to say these words: WELCOME MADAME PRESIDENT...
