Bill Touts Hillary as 'Agent of Change'
December 10, 2007 4:26 PM
ABC News' Christine Byun Reports: After being slowed down by icy weather, former President Bill Clinton launched a two day campaign trip to Iowa for his wife and presidential candidate, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
"Every two years, the Democrats kind of haul me out of the barn like an old horse to see if I can make it around the track one more time," the former President said. "But, I would be here working in this campaign if Hillary and I had not been married for 35 years because I think she is the single best suited person to be President."
Calling her an "agent of change," Clinton talked about his wife's experience, praising her as "the most gifted person of our generation."
"It's one thing to have good intentions; it is another thing entirely to change people's lives," Clinton said.
Addressing a crowd of 500 at Iowa State University in Ames, the former President talked about challenges like climate change and healthcare, issues which he says his wife would be best candidate equipped to handle.
He also tried to dispel criticism that his wife is calculating, saying she chose to stay with him in Arkansas, a failed congressional candidate with a "$26,000 salary and and $42,000 in campaign debt," in lieu of a high-paying legal career in a bigger city.
"I thought it would be wrong for me to rob her of the chance to be what I thought she should be," Clinton said. "She laughed and said, 'First I love you and, second, I'm not going to run for anything, I'm too hardheaded."'
Clinton's visit to Iowa Monday follows his weekend trip to South Carolina to campaign for his wife as Oprah Winfrey stumped for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
The former President's speech was delayed for about an hour because his flight could not land due to an icy runway. The crowd of about 500 waited patiently, appeased by sodas and donuts, as Clinton was shuttled to Iowa State University.
"They told me you got donuts when I couldn't get down," Clinton said, joking, "Person on the way in said if you waited another hour, we could have had bbq."

I believe a columnist for the Times of London said it best: "The former first Lady seems to be offering Americans a better yesterday"! Ouch!
The old war-horse has been brought out of retirement to underline that , but while he may still snort and rear, the fact is he is no longer potent!

Barack Obama is America's FUTURE, and Hillary is history. We are tired of the Clintons secrecy, scandals and divisive politics. Barack Obama REAL CHANGE. He represents 'change' that we can believe in.

Wait a minute. For months we've been hearing about what an experienced Washington hand Hillary is. Now she's the agent of change? I'm confused.

She's experienced alright- at deceit and arrogance. We dont need the type of experince that Hillary really does have. She isnt change, she is 4 more years of a divided country bickering and hating eachother.

"Agent of Change" This is trully what we are missing today..President still any many ways..Mr Clinton you are still about the people even as years go by..I salute you commander and remember these words.."One must believe that opportunity exists..and one must believe that through the mounds of garbage that one can find dignity..One must be treated with respect..this is what people need..not of systems that fornicate..systems devised to bring injustice to date..We are the People who still love your ways, and to your wife a Senator..She has come along way..I bow to her for many will not see..that Hillary Clinton is the one to succeed! hillary is BY FAR the best candidate the dems can nominate for president. obama's hope rhetoric will wilt under the arudous process of a general election campaign. all style, no substance. i'll take substance over style any day!

Obama promises a great candidate for the future, but anybody that does not realize his shortcomings has not been sitting through the debates. His responses to some questions, such as, would he meet with the leaders of N. Korea,Iran, etc. indicate his shortsightedness.
Some day, yes, but not now.
Hillary is today's hope!

Guess the "Experience" idea failed...
Now the Clinton's try "Change Agent"
Naaayyyyy... put the old horse back in the barn...

Hillary is more like "back to the future" than an Agent of change!
Ms clinton's supporters pine for the
good old days of Waco, the first World Trade Center bombing, the Oklahoma City
bombing, Columbine, The Kobart Towers bombing, The bombing of the U.S.S. Cole,
Allowing Bin Laden to escape when the Sudan offered to give him to us,
Setting up the intelligence wall between the FBI and the CIA which prevented the 9/11 plot from being discovered! The days of lying under
oath in court and on national TV!
The days of having sex in the Whitehouse with an intern and disgracing the presidency!
Agent of change NO Way!

Are they now trying to brainwash us into forgetting how sick and tired we are of the same old politics? If CHANGE is so good WHY DIDNT THEY CHANGE BEFORE NOW??? The fact is that Hillary represents the same old tired sleezy politics and I am ready for someone like Obama to get us out of this muddy rut.

I would say that Hillary is a joke, but there is nothing remotely funny about how close we are to the edge of the cliff if we nominate her. She will do to us what George Bush has done to the republicans. We may not recover from it for a long, long time.

american voter = too dumb to know better
they will all vote for whoever they "think" is best, unfortunately ,as far as the average american voter is concerned anyway , the word "think" is an oxymoron.
thinking ,contemplating and debating ideas with an OBJECTIVE and UNBIASED mindset is almost an impossibility in this country anymore , its all hype and rhetoric and partisanship ,to the point of RUINING THIS COUNTRY.
this system was designed by the founding fathers it was hard to screw it up ,but let unchecked greed in and look what happens...this system of politics ,as laid out in the constitution and ensuing amendments, is just broken by way of neglect and abuse, like an old car that is still good but needs a good owner to do some repairs... THIS COUNTRY IS WORTH FIXING ,RON PAUL WANTS TO DO A COMPLETE OVERHAUL , YOU CAN QUIT CALLING IT AMERICA IF HE HAS HIS WAY ,IT WILL BE RON PAULVILLE!!

This guy will say absolutely anything!! I didnt have sex with that woman, I was against the Iraq war.. I asked my wife not to marry me... Now his wife is the agent of change.. blah, blah blah. lies each and everytime he speaks. OBAMA 08!!

This is a serious election and we can't vote with our hearts but with our brain and logic. Having said that, Hillary is equipped to take the next presidency and undo the damage that Bush has done to our country. Yes, Obama has charisma so does Bush who I'd love to have a beer or two with those two guys. When it comes to serious business I'd vote for the most intelligent, capable, sharp person and that to me is Hillary Clinton.
