Chelsea Takes the Stage
December 08, 2007 8:23 AM
ABC News' George Stephanopoulos and Eloise Harper Report: Hillary Clinton is making her weekend campaign for president a family affair.
Chelsea Clinton, who to this point in her mother's bid for her father's old job has stayed off the campaign trail, will campaign with Clinton, D-N.Y., in Iowa while former President Bill Clinton is dispatched to South Carolina.
Clinton, locked in a dead heat in Iowa with her rival Democrats, brought a surprise guest with her to her rally in Des Moines on Friday evening: her mother.
The candidate introduced her mother on stage saying, "I wanted to bring a buddy with me; and so I brought my mother Dorothy Rodham."
A roar of cheers could be heard through the crowd as the senator and her mother, who lives with the Clintons in Washington, laughed on stage.
The Senator told a story of coming to Iowa 53 years ago with her family and staying at the Tall Corn Motel.
"I want to thank you for being here, mom," said Clinton to her 88-year-old mother. "Thanks for coming back to Iowa with me."
Dorothy Rodham never took the microphone, but when asked by ABC News how she likes Iowa replied, "I like it, it's very friendly."
She also told well-wishers that "it's about time that we listen to the voice of-experience; I think it makes a difference."
This weekend is shaping up to be a battle of the surrogates as Oprah Winfrey hits the trail with Senator Barack Obama, D-Ill., in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina in events on Saturday and Sunday.

After the uninformed American Public elects Hillary, they'll then elect another Bush, followed by Chelsea. The duped American Public wants to continue the Clinton/Bush progression until at least 2100!

Mrs. Clinton's Mother is proud of Hillary as she should be. Chelsea has some class and is proud of her Mother as well..I say bring them on...As long as we elect a Democrat next November, I really dont care who they bring to campaign.

Dynasties are not the best way to run a country, its being selfish and denying the country a new stream of fresh ideas.presidency should never be an instrument of jump starting eroded marriages back to life.

all i know is, and it cannot be reasonably disputed, is that Senator Clinton is the best choice currently running for the best interests of our children, our troops and our country.

What a mature and refreshing show of political intellegence. In the wake of Hollywood dazzle with the Obama/Oprah song and dance, comes the real deal. Hillary has not only been talking about the strength of family and wanting to strengthen middle America, but also proves it by responding with her own 2 stars, her Mother and Daughter. I find it a testament to the character and personality of Hillary Clinton. You are exactly what this country needs and I hope people can see beyond the Hollywood hype.

What a front! Hillary has been sunken so low in all of her lies, promises, and verbal waffling that she is now going to play "The Family Card"! Whoaaa! Yea! Here is my mother! And look at my daughter! What a front! Parading her family in front of her deceptions and lies. Now that is as low as you can get. What about the $5,000 baby bonds she was going to pass out? Did that not buy her votes? Is it off of the table? How many of her used-to-be friends are still in jail? What foreign country(s) are lining her purse? Do not rule out China, the two fund raising frauds were only 2 of the many more yet to be revealed. HELP!

This is a great moment for Iowans to see the real Mrs. Clinton.. whoelse would you prefer to vouch for you but someone who is in your life, a daughter a mom and husband...this is the true picture of an american family suporting each other!
Let us just be genuine to ourselves..we want America to shine then we need to refrain from throwing stones because it might bounce back to you!

I have known all the while that former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton is the qualified to led this great nation this time.
She just bring with her such class and such quiet dignity that you can't just ignore.
If you think I'm wrong, just look at how she has brought up chelsea, and you
can't help but accept the fact that she has been a very good mum.
Do you hate that too?Come on...give me a break.
There is all this talk by her antagonists about how they can't stand. She is really their secret admirer they can't have and that ticks them off so bad. What those people should openly admit is how jealous they are of her. Go on first lady... You are just the best hands down.

It wasn't much of a battle. It is reported that only a very few people should up Saturday for Hillary Clinton's rally.
While 18,500 showed up for Obama in Des Moines and 10,000 showed up in Cedar Rapids.

For all those glorifying Hillary -- remember she has no record to prove she has done anything major to help Americans. She has been in the senate and has not accomplished anything of significance. She did do something quite horrible -- she signed on to send our tropps to Iraq and filled her banks accounts with money from lobbyists and special interest groups.
Saturday Barack Obama drew crowds in the tens of thousands.
Hillary had a rally Saturday and only a very few amount of people were there.
She is not the front runner and never was -- that was the media saying that and she has the name Clinton.
Now that people are paying attention to the race, more and more people are saying no to Hillary Clinton. She does not have enough of a voter base to win the nomination.

Family affairs count! You want people to know you not because a celebrity is there. People instead show up to see their celebrity instead of coming to see you as a candidate. Oprah is there to promote her showbiz more than Obama. She said it herself, experience is still the best to have to become a president. Hillary answered it so beautifully........Hillary said..fortunately she has all the experience both in government and in life. I like that.
This family has class. I agree on all the people who sent their comments. What's wrong if the Clintons keep running this country? As long as the Clintons are qualified, why not? we are talking about running a country, of course we need the best candidate.......more experience...more knowledgeable.......tough......intelligent......determined....
Sometimes I asked myself. God really has plan for everyone of us He created. One of them is Hillary. HE has plan for her. HE destined her to be who she is now. I believe that she really will be the first woman President of the United States. I am so proud of her. Despite all the attacking these other candidates are doing to her............my God......She is ready to punch them with her toughness and determination...her knowledge and experience is helping her fight back. Family with class.......more expecially...experience family I would say. Bill Clinton, our former President. Chelsea, a very well trained and educated daughter. Hillary's mom who did a very good job and training and educating Hillary.........on her toughness and determination. I am so very proud of you Hillary for taking care of your mom and allow her to stay with you and not in a nursing home. I hope that my children will do the same for me. That's what we are doing to our dad. We did that to our mom too. My mom already passed away. Strong family ties really the best.
Continue what you are doing Hillary. I could see your determination to rebuild this country and for the Americans.
