Clinton Asked About Religion by Someone From the Past
December 18, 2007 7:26 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper: Sen. Hillary Clinton got a surprise from her past at a rally in Donnellson, Iowa Tuesday evening. After a woman asked Clinton if she was Christian -- Clinton replied that she was. The woman breathed a sigh of relief and said " "Ok, that's really important to me. God be with you. Clinton replied "and also with you."
After that there was some commotion in the audience. A woman said "your Sunday school teacher," and at first Clinton did not seem to follow what she was saying. When Clinton looked over she saw Rosalie Bentzinger, who was the Director of Religious Education First Methodist Church in Park Ridge, Illinois. She evidently instructed Clinton when she was a girl. Clinton, who seemed pleased, rushed over to give the woman a big hug.
The Clinton campaign assured reporters that the questioner was not a plant - and Clinton didn't know she would be in the audience.
Bentzinger lives in Iowa and has been campaigning for Clinton. She brought with her a picture of the New York Senator in the 8th grade and said that Clinton was a great student.
After a few days of a public effort to showcase her personal and warmer side, the surprise visit from her past could not have come at a better time. The campaign has been trying to emphasize that there has been a swing in momentum leaning in Clinton's direction.
Speaking earlier in Des Moines, Clinton said to reporters "you think I got my groove back?"
Clinton spent her second day traveling by helicopter across Iowa., and today a pool of press personnel was allowed to follow Clinton in a press chopper. Clinton was sent off in her this morning by Magic Johnson and former President Bill Clinton. Senator Clinton returns to Iowa Tuesday night - after attending a fundraiser in Chicago.

This is newsworthy?

When was the last time Hillary genuinely attended church? I have never seen her attend church other than for politics. If she is a true Christian, she would have released her hidden records that everbody have been demanding since 2005.

Republicans quote the Bible all the time , so did the devil. I'd rather see a sermon than hear a sermon anytime. Hillarys past records helping children, ect proves she walks the talk. Not just talks the talk. Ya know them by their fruits. Are you better off now than in 2000?

What a touching story! Oh, wait, it was faked. I searched the Internet and found a photo of the "long lost" Sunday School teacher, having BBQ with Hillary at another campaign event in April of this year. No kidding. Took me all of 5 minutes to find, too.
What is disturbing is that this article is word-for-word from a Clinton Campaign press release. It appears elsewhere online. Shame on ABC for not investigating further.
The photo is available for purchase on wireimage

Um ... yeah. Totally spontaneous appearance. Riiiiiight.
And ABC ... seriously. Who gives a crap about this gobbledegook. Let me know when you have some real news to report.

Who cares if she attends church. The world is falling down all around us -health care, guns, inflation, potential recession, the disastrous war in Iraq and a potential war with Iran and you people are focused on this nonsense. Read the paper and get a grip.

It was not planet, I was there. Her Sunday School teacher drove a long way to see her. I got to speak with her for a few seconds before Hillary Came. Also Hillary had no Idea she was there.
I just wanted to let you all know that I got to met her after she spoke and she saw my 6 year old son. She aksed about him and I told her we have been having problems getting him into doctors in Iowa city. She took my name and number and is going to have someone clal us. Shs is goign to see what she cna do with getting him into the dotors or where ever he needs to be seen. God Bless her and all the works she does.
People just need to stop fighting and get alone for crying out loud we are all one COuntry act like it stop figihting over hat Canidate is right and wrong. We have all made up our minds on who we want. No one has to go and badmouth the others. Some people need to grow up!!!!

Yeah, okay. The two women were just at a function together about 6 months ago.
So much for the "long-lost" Sunday school teacher with Hillary's photo....and she drove HERSELF from Illiinois to Iowa?!?!?!?!?!?

Wow, you haters kill me. She can't do anything right, can she? And I guess it's sticks in your teeth that she might have actually attended Sunday School. I know, imagine, a democrat being a christian. Oh, the humanity of it all.

I know Rosalie Bentzinger. For those of you who are AMAZED that Rosalie Bentzinger would just happen to be in Donnellson, Iowa, well...get this...she LIVES in Donnellson, Iowa. She has lived there for years and takes care of her brother, a retired minister who is blind. How clever of the Clinton cabal to plant them there years ago.
I know that Rosalie would be absolutely horrified to know how she is being portrayed.
So what if a member of the campaign who knew that it wasn't a plant, also said that they hadn't seen each other since the 50's. Crikey.

I don't fault her for not going to church. Jesus himself was against organized religious institutions and their "white-washed graves" leaders. What sickens me about Hillary is her christian "charity" with other people's money. Taxes are collected by force, folks. They would be called donations otherwise. She is another self righteous shill that wants to force us into what she believes is best for us. No different than christian self-righteous republicans using government force to achieve what they think is best for us. What happened to freedom?
