Clinton Doesn't Want a One-Night Stand
December 02, 2007 6:52 PM
Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, speaking in Bettendorf, Iowa, trying to convince a crowd to caucus for her, explained that she wants to be with them so that she can win Iowa in November 2008.
"I want a long term relationship," she said. "I don't want to just have a one night stand with all of you."
Clinton is trying to earn support of Iowans by launching a new theme today -- "Take your Buddy to Caucus." This is a new strategy from Clinton, who has said that most of her supporters have never been to a caucus before. The campaign has showed their video expressing how easy it is to caucus with a little humor -– including an image of Bill Clinton running on a treadmill, thinking about a hamburger and saying "exercise is hard." The video concludes "caucusing is easy." (Video can be seen here: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/video/69.aspx)
The latest Des Moines Register poll shows Clinton coming in behind Senator Obama among likely caucus-goers. Clinton is now at 25 percent, down from 29 percent, and Obama is the choice of 28 percent of likely Democratic Party caucus-goers, up from 22 percent.
"I know that this is a close race here in Iowa," Clinton said earlier today, but her campaign is committed to organize and even shovel Iowans' sidewalks in order to help them get to the caucuses.
"Let's have a raucous caucus," Clinton said to voters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, earlier today. "It reminds me of that book 'Where the Wild Things Are,' that book I used to read to Chelsea all the time. Let the wild rumpus begin."

It's kind of like Nixon softening his public image in '68... except Clinton's attempt has been creepy, awkward, and visibly forced.

Hillary is starting to sweat. Comprehensive polling shows her placing third once the threshold votes are re-sorted.
I just can't believe her claims of being mud-slung when you look at her own mouth - even today - charging Obama with a "character" problem, which the general public laughed off. She's bracing for a loss as Obama pulls up in New Hampshire and South Carolina, just like he took Iowa from her.

Check Hillary's campaign site and her Fact Check Hub.
To counter Obama assertions about her ambitions, she sites a quote from Barack's kindergarton teacher, saying he wrote he wanted to be President.
Why run away from your life long ambition Hillary. Embrace it. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be President. Why act ashamed.

In reference to the article's title; there's not enough beer in the world.

Reading the Huffington Post each day is one of my great pleasures since I moved to Buenos Aires from Southern California for work. HOWEVER, I can't stomach the mean spiritedness and absolute vitriol toward Senator Clinton that I see each day on HP.
I for one, now feel that the HP is as biased as the vile editorial slant from Fox Lies. Why Ms Huffinton who I had admired has let her post become a Senator Clinton bashing blog while elevating Senator Obama’s status is dispiriting. A liberal blog bashing a democrat who has served us well is revolting. All the candidates are smart, and capable. Stick to writing objectively about the issues and I believe the voters are intelligent enough to make their choice. Arianna, you took the same attack editorial posture when you were a big Republican mouthpiece. Bashing, bashing, bashing the dems. You almost had me convinced that you’d actually reformed yourself, but sadly you’ve fallen off the wagon.

I think Arianna's been fairly consistent and open about her distrust and dislike of the Clinton political machine. And so are many of us progressives who believe that another Clinton administration will only bring more of the same cronyism and insider dishonesty that have brought this country so low in the eyes of the world. Enough!

I too have become somewhat sad with this site. Along with other sites, I have discovered that most of the posting is done by the same people at most of them. I am happy with all of our candidates and it is quite apparent that a lot of the garbage being written is either by those who don't want a democrat to win or is just concerned about his or her own candidate. Please for the love of God people, quit the bashing. I am sure we could find something we don't like about all of those running. They don't need our help with the vicious and vile rumblings. Take it out on the republician who have had a grip on our country for the last seven years.

The HP has become an arm of the Obama campaign. It is clear that it is biased and unfortunately AH is subverting the process by wearing a Democratic armband while servicing Republican interests. It is time to turn to Raw Story for unbiased reporting.

I also am surprised at the constant attacks on Hillary and the vile tone of them. You would probably be correct if you attributed most of them to conservative trolls. I also dislike some of the candidates, but since I realize the seriousness of our countries present condition, and the prognosis is bad, it is truly difficult for me to believe that an Obama supporter would find Hillary a worse choice than say Rudy. We need a Democrat to be elected as President for Christ sake. We can not survive another 7 years like we have just gone through .
Screw your petty differences, you are still Americans and your country needs your help and it needs it now. The conservatives have ravished all aspects of Government and our country needs our help so it is time to stand up and win this election for the Democrats.

Perhaps you want to limit your political sites to CNN...it is pro-hillary and so is taylormarsh's site.
There are lots of democrates who have policy issues with Hillary and who certainly take issue with her lacking principles and equivocating all the time. That is a serious character issue and she certainly knows it.
Arianna has been upfront about her issues with Hillary unlike CNN and Taylor Marsh who bash Obama and write biased articles without acknowledging that they are pro=Hillary.
So change which sites you visit if you want to read about folks cheerleading for Hillary.

Hillary Clinton could care less about Iowans, she only cares about herself and her corrupt buddies. She will say and do anything to win. Voting for Hillary Clinton is like voting for the biggest idiot of the United States of American (George Bush). If Hillary Clinton becomes the democratic nominee I will be one democratic to stay home on election day.

"Clinton Doesn't Want a One-Night Stand"

I KNEW this wasn't an article about William Jefferson Clinton.
HE LIVES for one-niters.

Karen Kohr-Blinn wrote: "I am not surprised at your venom towards a wife who suffered under the pains of adulterous conduct...."

Give us a break.
Of the dozens upon dozens of Billy Jeffs affairs, Hillary not only knew of them...
But she played a part in investigating and attacking the victims in order to "preserve" her political aspirations.

Hillary has the Rudy look on her face after he was caught using tax payers money to visit his bimbo in the Hamptons. America does not need the Clintons.
Posted by: Hershel Cowsert | Dec 3, 2007 9:10:32 AM
What are you trying to do? Keep the republicans in the white house? We need a candidate who will be able to WIN in November. Come on people THINK. Obama will never be able to win any of the states that were lost by Gore and Kerry. He just does not have the experience to fight the Karl Roves like the Clintons do. The democrats that can not see that are fooling themselves. So what if Hillary is not perfect. She is a fighter and we need a fighter to face the repukes! We (the democrats) are playing into their hands by nominating someone who CAN NOT win.
Posted by: Tara | Dec 3, 2007 9:25:05 AM
I totally agree with the poster who commented on Huffington post. They are PRO Obama all the time. I too used to enjoy reading her site but no more. She appears to want the Republicans to win again.
Posted by: Tara | Dec 3, 2007 9:27:54 AM
I think the reason the Republicans are bashing Clinton so much now is that they want her to lose the primary, preferring to run against Obama. So, it is dismaying that the Democrats are bashing her too.
I think Obama has been getting off easy with the media: Why no outcry about the Chris Rock comment of "...that white lady" at the Harlem gathering, and Michelle playing the race card? Why no outcry about the Illinois contingents who bus in to cheer Obama at the Iowa forums (after all, there was whining that CNN stacked the Las Vegas debated with Clinton supporters). What about the PAC issue that has just arisen? What about his time as state senator and special interests in Chicago?
If Obama wins the Democratic nomination, you can be sure the Republican attack dogs will find things.

HuffPost did not write the article; it appears on ABC, as do other news items about Hillary Clinton AND about Obama.
Posted by: ella | Dec 3, 2007 9:54:04 AM
Sadly, the Democrats are throwing away their best chance to win if they don't choose Hillary Clinton. The media and the religious right are touting Obama and pilloring Hillary because they KNOW Obama could never win a general election. It is all a part of the Republican game which the Democrats are naive enough to fall for. Oprah could have helped Kerry or Gore. Instead she waited for a Black candidate. Iowans will recognize the "corn" in Oprah's decision and they'll vote for Senator Clinton because she CAN beat a Republican.
