Clinton Hostage-Taker Allegedly Cited Her Campaign Ad
December 01, 2007 3:33 PM
ABC News' Kate Snow reports: ABC News has learned that Leeland Eisenberg -- the man accused of holding hostages at Hillary Clinton's Rochester, N.H., campaign office for six hours on Friday -- allegedly cited one of Clinton's campaign commercials when police say he entered the office and claimed to have a pipe bomb strapped to his chest.
According to sources, the campaign office intruder was complaining about insurance issues and mentioned a recent campaign ad widely seen by New Hampshire voters.
"She helped that guy, she can help me," Eisenberg allegedly told Clinton campaign staffers, referring to Joe Ward, a Clinton supporter featured in the ad. The intruder then demanded that Sen. Clinton talk with him. On the advice of law enforcement officials, the senator never did.
Eisenberg never actually had a bomb, authorities said, but had road flares strapped to his chest. The hostages could not see what was under his jacket and believed it could be a bomb, they added.
Joe Ward is a New Yorker who was also featured in TV ads when Clinton ran for Senate in 2000.
In the testimonial ad, which features somber piano music, Ward intones: "Let me tell you a little story. My son Joel had a terrible illness. He needed a bone marrow transplant that our insurance wouldn't cover and we couldn't afford. We called Sen. Clinton and asked for help. Her office called the next day, letting us know that the hospital was going to absorb the cost of the transplant. Now her opponents are saying that Hillary can't be trusted? I trusted this woman to save my son's life, and she did."

It is amazing what people will put in print! Someone once told me I would have more success turning a rock into a feather than changing a Stubborn, narrow minded, Conservative Republican into a rationally thinking, happy, well-adjusted human being. The Hillary haters here and on most every political post i have read - prove this point time and again.
So, to those folks who understand exactly what I am saying- continue to smile- bite your tongue and try to remember- Stupid is as stupid does. AND Thank your lucky stars you are not one of them!!

Whether true or not, the story in the ad neither rehabilitates Clinton's credibility nor credits her as trustworthy. If she did intercede, it was to score points during an election campaign. Slowly, America is recognizing that Hillary Rodham Clinton is not a good person, she is a scheming, self serving politician of the worst order. The nut who invaded her NH office did, however, make one point clear - Clinton was afraid to confront him. Some leader!

Hillary should release the documents relating to her activities during Bill Clinton's presidency. It is rumored her healthcare plan is similar to that of Joseph Stanlin during his communist administration in Russia. She forced the lunatic to think he can get care from Hillary campaign office. It is so sad Hillary will invite hostage takers.

What was this drunk's excuse when he was charged by his wife for attacking her, to the point where he was supposed to go to court while he threatened Clinton supporters? What was this so-called nutcase excuse when he boozed it up for reportedly 72 hours? What is the excuse of the people posting here who just don't get it -- there are middle class Americans who cannot get insurance coverage because they have pre-existing conditions insurance won't cover (I know, I am one of them). What is the excuse of Americans who don't want all Americans to have life-saving health care, while our men and wome in uniform are risking their lives for their freedom? What is ABC suits' excuse for enabling that drunk to blame an advertisement for his selfish stupidity?

Anybody thinks it's pernicious to ridicule the Clinton's???Her husband was partially responsible for an intelligence failure that got thousands of people killed. She voted for a war where tens of thousands have been butchered.THAT'S PERNICIOUS!!!!

Don't care what anyone says, but Clinton is 10x better than what Bush is. Plus, she's not a rep. I'm cool with her as president. Stop attacking her, the Clinton administration was 20x better than our current one. If she was waering the pants during that administration, then I think we could use her one more time.

I can't believe I see people attacking the former Clinton administration based on security. So the Clintons caused many deaths, because intellegince failed? Wow. The Bush administration has caused ~70,000 deaths in Iraq. 3,888 of them our troops. IDIOTS.

Idiots are we if we allow the extremists to set off nuclear devices in every major city simultaneously.

Only a mentally incompetent person would believe tha Ad. Hillary was almost hoist on her own petard. Let the writers keep on striking. With American politics these days, we don't need professional humorists to keep us laughing. D. H.

No act like this occurs in isolation. Any candidate who uses testimonials to support their position is setting up unrealistic expectations. When that is combined with someone who is desperate and has an unrealistic view of the world this is what we get. Clinton is known for pandering to needy people and making promises to them to get votes. This poor sick man just needed her to deliver right now. This should be a lesson to all candidates, please, no more commercials or speeches with heart wrenching individual tragedies to manipulate people, just stick to the issues.

Yeah, get rid of the remaining illegal alliens and deal a final blow to the housing market and our economy.

The American presidency needs moral leadership. The youth of the society are the future. They need credible leadership, or the society decays. They do not need liars, cheaters, sexual perverts and the likes of the Clintons in the White House. Face facts, the Clintons are sleaze. They are owned by corrupt corporate lobbyists. The whole world is watching. The Clintons are incompetent. He inherited a booming tech economy and drove it into a tech wreck and recession. Clinton balanced the budget to please his republican cronies, but couldn't care less about the health care he promised when campaigning. He shafted the American worker with bad trade deals. Clinton should have taken out Bin Laden when his whereabouts were known. Both WTC attacks were planned under Clinton, and now the resulting wars have left the country bankrupt. Hillary voted for the wars and now for one with Iran. It is the Clintons' disgracing of the presidency that caused the democrats to lose the White House, and the Congress. It was a direct result. This also led to a conservative Supreme Court that has permanent repercussions due to their lifetime appointments. The Clintons are an unmitigated disaster for America. Obama is the future.

The add does implicate that Hillary will take care of you, vote for her and rest assured. So, all of these people who have been tramatized by this unfortunate threat should be fully taken care of by Hillary. She has made herself out to be THE way, so from her own pockets let her pay, pay, pay.

The ease in which people are so easily offended in today's effeminate society, and with the roles of leadership being reversed, men of the world are laying down when they should be standing up. --- How about something new? Newspeople report actual news instead of inuendo, gossip, and he said she said. -- Take off those itching ears, dry your eyes and take it like a man.

Look at any socialised health care system, and you will see that A very large number of services that are important to "quality of life" will be refused.
That organ transplant that the Hillary brags about in the commercial, probably wont even be available under any of the Democrats plans. The money to ptovide these services, have to come from somewhere, and I have yet to see any Government agency, use money efficiently.

When one thinks of socialized healthcare, please remember the British experience:
it costs UK $200 Billion (97billion pounds) yearly
Rationing is real -- I've worked in both the UK and US systems, in UK one often must win argument to get a CT for a patient, in US much easier to order; in UK there are 6 months or more wait lists for even simple surgeries like hernias, and that after 6 months wait to see the surgeon. At least weekly one hears sob stories of expensive treatments being denied. Many hospitals have 8-10 bed bays, not private rooms. Try getting a tonsillectomy -- an unauthorized proceedure!
25% of Brits opt out by going private-pay --- to bypass the wait lists.
What will happen in US if hillarycare:
a. For those with insurance -- and that INCLUDES medicaid and medicare as well as private insurance -- quality will take a sharp drop.
b. Better hope your FP, OBGYN, or Internist believes your story, as second opinions are scarce and referrals required to see any specialist. The GP is the gatekeeper.
c. Yes, those now without insurance will get better care and be without risk of medical-bill bankruptcy.
d. AND anyone with over $20,000/year in income (most of us) will be taxed sharply to pay for it all.

I am amused by how many Americans are opposed to a National healthcare program. We already do. When an uninsured go to a hospital, they get medical services, and we all pay for it somehow.
The government should offer a government sponsored healthcare program. Those who don't like the idea should keep their Commercial insurance.
Our country spends the most in healthcare but behind in life expectancy, infant motality rates, and average height.
Remember when NY governor said giving the illegal immigrants a drivers license a good idea and most said NO. Well, i got news for you all, those illegal immigrants are already driving. So let's just ignore that. We don't really care if they know how to drive or not. We don't want to find out.
