Edwards Criticizes Obama’s Hopes for Change

ABC News' Raelyn Johnson reports: One week away from the Iowa Caucuses, John Edwards is sharpening the criticisms against his rivals, all in the name of change.

Speaking to a packed room of supporters gathered in Waverly, Iowa, Edwards stressed that while there were good Democratic candidates in the race, as the anti-corporate candidate, he is the best person to bring about change.

“I know Sen. Obama gave a speech today, and he’s a good guy, but I listen to the talk about, ‘I’m going to give the insurance companies, the drug companies, and the oil companies a seat at the table, and I’m going to sit at that table, and I’m going to negotiate with them, and they will voluntarily give their power away.' Well, that’s not the world that I live in. They’ll give their power up when we take their power away from them.”

Edwards was citing a speech Obama delivered in Des Moines, Iowa, Thursday, urging caucus goers to stand with him on Jan. 3 for change.

Edwards quipped, “The only thing that I want to say to you is, a week from tonight, you better caucus for somebody, and send somebody as your candidate into that ring who’s ready for that fight. Somebody who’s got what it takes in here,” he said, pointing to his gut.

Edwards, himself, is set to deliver his own closing argument for change, tomorrow in Dubuque.  In prepared remarks provided by the campaign, Edwards will say, “Why on Earth would we expect the corporate powers and their lobbyists –- who make billions by selling out the middle class -- to just give up, just because we ask nicely? Nobody who takes their money and defends the broken system is going to bring change.  And unfortunately, nobody who thinks we can just sit down and talk them into compromise, is going to bring change, either.”

Wow, looks like Obama is really losing it,again! Today his campaign was trying to use the dead of Benazir Bhutto putting blame on Hillary and trying to capitalize on that tragic event. That is a shameful thing to do. I t seems like Obama's campaign is running against the clock and without arguments to prove he is the messenger of change and the savior of America. If he thinks he can bring change by talking to the same big powers, lobbyst and multinationals that are giving him money for the campaign just because he is nice, he is probably living in dreamland! It shows his lack of experience and leadership or in dealing with situations at that level. His ego gets bigger and bigger by the minute, now he believes not only that he is the messenger of change and holier than thu; but now he really thinks he is the most electable one, and with foreign affairs experience. He is losing it. Go figures!
Edwards is right on finally answering to Obama attacks; Obama has never been a power broker or a experienced negotiator or have had any clear position of leadership bringing together high power people or leaders; his experience is zero.

Who does Edwards think he is fooling. He is out of his ever loving mind if he thinks he can take the power away from the power brokers. He is the the most two-faced candidate in the democratic race. If Edwards wins the democratic nomination I will vote republican.

Both Obama and Hillary Clinton are running a campaign, with no intentions of doing what they say they are going to do. First Hillary Clinton's so called experience is really her husband's experience

Why is Obama attacking Edwards, what's the point, he's ahead of Edwards, right? I think maybe he should go back to Hillary's experience issue.

To the person who says that Edwards is two face, do you know John Edwards, he has had to stand up to corporations in order to win lawsuits against them, for injuries and in some cases death for his clients and got justice for ordinary people. So his intention is not to take away their power but to lessen their power over the government, corporations run the government, go on and vote republican so that the abuse can continue. I guess another four years of the republican administration, was fine, obviously you have pplenty of money, and you figure the republicans will continue with the tax cuts for the rich.

How exactly does he plan to TAKE power away from corporations? Especially while he takes money from them, indirectly or not, for his campaign? it might not be haliburton that gets the no bid contracts from him, but it would be someone.

Obama is attacking Edwards because in Iowa if a canidate doesn't get 15% of votes they have a second choice vote, so if Biden, Dodd, Richardson or Dennis do not reach 15% the people who voted from the can now vote for someone else. Obama wants to to be their second choice. And why is he attacking Edwards anyway,I thought he was running a positive campaign. He's not different from any other politician, he's says one thing and does the complete opposite.

You all need to get the blinders off. What's going on here is simple: Clinton's camp has promised Edwards something, whether it's the bottom of the ticket or not, I don't know. But Edwards is going to try to save Hillary's spiraling stats in Iowa by hacking at Obama in the eleventh hour.

Either that, or Edwards is hoping that he can pick Obama off and then absorb his supporters and actually have a chance of beating Hillary.

Hillary Clinton scares me, and should scare you. Planted questions, feed-and-fire dirt-slingers, and a foundation built on 'experience' gleaned by being someone's wife--not to mention every double-dealing shenanigan we had held up to us while Bill (who, whatever his failings, was actually the decent Clinton) was in office.

Wake up, people. Hillary isn't in it for anyone but Hillary, and whatever people she has to satisfy to get four years and then make it eight.
