ABC News' Matt Stuart Reports: Former Gov. Mitt Romney made a surprise visit to the back of the press plane on Wednesday, startling reporters who had settled in for a nap after a long day and an early morning.

We quickly woke up, wiping away the drool and fixing the hair plastered against the plane wall, in time to catch Romney speaking about the long trail to the White House.

When asked how Romney keeps up the pace, he said, "the world will look a lot different February 6th," adding that, "there's an end in sight."

Romney's run for president has long been in the making, beginning first at the consulting company Bain and Co. where he made his fortune, followed by a stint running the 2002 Olympics and a four year term as Massachusetts governor.

On Wednesday, Romney downplayed the pace of the campaign saying running for public office and his work in the private sector was intense and had prepared him for the grueling campaign schedule.

However, Romney didn't make it up this morning for his usual run, but said he would either run in the evening or Thursday morning to keep up his "every other day" schedule.

Apparently he's not one to lose sleep, adding he needs "6 or 7 hours a night."

"We like to be active," Romney said of his family, claiming they'd be more likely to play tennis or go water skiing than sit around on the beach for 3 hours.

He also tries to keep busy on the many planes rides, noting the he "just wrote three ads on this trip," but that "they won't use any of them. They just throw my stuff out."

But when asked whether this were over Feb 5th or Nov. 2008 if he'd get some sleep, he didn't really answer.
