Hillary, Chelsea and Dorothy Make an Iowa Diner Stop

ABC News' David Wright and Eloise Harper report: Sen. Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Dorothy Rodham walked into Palmer's Deli and Market in Des Moines, Iowa, and created quite the stir this morning. While the flat screens above were featuring TV anchors discussing the Oprah effect -- the Clinton family was quietly creating its own media frenzy.

Sen. Clinton was asked if she was worried about the big crowds Obama is going to draw today with Oprah Winfrey. Clinton shrugged it off.

"I am having a good time; I'm just not sure if I'm going to eat all of this in front of you," she said. "That's the only thing I'm concerned about right now."

Clinton had ordered the Good Ol' Iowa -- which included an omelet, rye toast, hash browns and tea. Chelsea had an egg white omelet with lots of well-done hash browns. Chelsea was concerned that her grandmother hadn't ordered and came back with the order -- Mrs. Rodham selected the hotcakes.
Sen. Clinton paid the bill with cash, and Chelsea dumped the change into the tip jar.

The three women ignored the TV crew surrounding them while they ate their breakfast.

Andy McGuire, a campaign co-chair, joined the ladies and  asked  Chelsea  if she has a boyfriend.

"I have a very serious boyfriend, who my family knows and, I hope, likes," Chelsea said. "You will meet him. He will be here in December."

A little boy and girl approached Chelsea and her mother and told the duo, "Girls rule and boys drool." Chelsea laughed and said, "I am agreeing with the first half of the statement."

Chelsea and her grandmother will be joining Sen. Clinton on the trail today. Its not Chelsea's first time to the Hawkeye State -- but it is her first time on the campaign trail. She told the people at the table she will be back.

I think the US of A will be ended if Clinton is president. This women has no idea how to run a country, yet she can't even keep her own husband from cheating on her.

What - The Daughter the MEDIA wasn’t allowed to report on, and has been REAL quiet about, is now being used for Political purposes - - -

If Clinton is elected, this country will not go to ruin... Quit this partisan malarkey, is it not obvious to you that Dems and Republicans are the same? I probably would rather vote for Ron Paul, because he or Kucinich are the only ones who would really change things. 'This country needs changes for the RIGHT.' You are ignorant, look at what the right has done to this country in only eight years. Look at what they did when Reagan was in office, due to his economic policies there was considerable recession...

Red Elephant - Where have you been these last 7 years. GW took this country down to the point that will create a gargantuan effort by the next president (Dem or Repub) to reverse what he started.

Fidony-I was wondering when they would trot Chelsea out.The first Clinton presidency turned her upside down. She doesn't need part2& neither do we.No matter the problem I have with her parents,I have always liked her.

It's awesome to see all of them on the campaign trail. At least Dorothy won't say anything stupid or embarrassing like John McCain's mother.

I love to see Hillary's family; but don't miss use them from media reason. Oprah will harm Barck Hussein Obama at the end, just wait and see.

American People are not so dumb to vote some one due to media person.

I am delighted to see Chelsea join her mom on the trail.

Go Chelsea!

Boom! Hillary brings out the big guns! (solid american family values trumping hollywood flash for all you obama fans who cant read between the lines...)
Boom and down goes oprah-ism!!

you think this is something? just wait till act 2 and 3 come out just before the primaries.

this lady has the smarts and the $$ to scare the republicans as well as the republican wanna bes (obama and r. paul). they are really scared this time around and rightly so, as her well planned media is just beginning to get into gear.

Regardless of personal opinions, I believe we all can agree that what Bill did in his personal life, has no reflection on the way Hillary can and will run our country. Unless we are ALL pure snow white and blameless (pun intended RED Elephant-) than I don't think we should remark on one's personal sexual life.
Additionally; I think we all can agree that our country and world environment is in real trouble under this current administration. I would be delighted to see Hilliary in office she speaks clearly with conviction. Obama would also make me happy although I think he may need a few more years in the arena to build his back bone. Perhaps our next president after Mrs. Clinton.
Bottom line RED & all you others who make backhanded insults: Go educated your self on all aspects of a candidate before expressing your views for all the world to read. Even if you don't change your mind about a certain candidate, you can at least walk away with more information than you started with. Good Luck to you!

Oprah's true colors of racial divisiveness are shining thorough. Where has she been for the last 25 years as election after election rolls by? Then a black joins the ranks and she's suddenly all over it. And please spare us the chatter about how she believes in Obama's platform, etc, etc. etc. She out there because he's black and this sends the wrong message, particulary as she encourages "color blindness" to her viewers day after day. She's not blind to color and that is perhaps the biggest sham of all. But then again, many of us have always known that Oprah, like Obama, is a fraud.

Don't think Oprah will help Obama. After all she could not pick someone to run her school so why do we think she could pick someone to run our country. Good luck Hillary

No doubts about it!! Sen Hilary Rodham Clinton is going to be our next President. She is so clean by her heart and has confidence in her statements she made. She is very intelligent and smart lady and She is sure to be first lady president of USA.

Enough is enough, Hilary Clinton is the best one for our country. Obama could wait and try in 8 years. What's his hurry. He is still young and can do alot more perhaps in the senate. He scares me. He is like Bush, too fast on the draw but misses the bulls eye. What is it with some of you out there? Why pick on Hilary all the time. She will be awesome as a president. Regardless of what Bill did he never lost his family and continued to do right for our country, remember no one person can be perfect, president or otherwise. You go Hilary!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Jane garcia | Dec 8, 2007 3:51:49 PM

Go Hilary
I strongly belive in Hilary, and Bill. Bill made a few mistakes but his IQ equals both Bushes together. The mess that these Bushes made of this country will take many years to make right. Panama and Iraq. There should be come court action against these people. Remember that we diddn't have these terroist before Bush. Now there seems to be every where.
And this Homeland thing of Billons of dollars, is a farce. and this must stop. Do us proud Hilary, and may the force be with you.

Hillary go after them. Just be yourself explain your side. Tell it the way it is, if they don't like what they here to bad. Tell the real story. America has heard enough lies to last a very long time. Remember the needs out way th needs of the few or even the one. Hilary you have my vote. Chicago will not let you down.

Pretty sorry sight to have Chelsea on the trail...

Clinton's always wanted to "protect" her... now she will be the focus of a lot of venom...

It's truly a sign of desperation on the trail...

And they get one short media cycle from it... whereas Oprah will get a whole weekend of media attention...

I like seeing Hillary and her mom and daughter

Posted by: lori | Dec 8, 2007 5:38:50 PM

It is much wiser to have your own mom and daughter than Oprah. Who doesn’t love our daughter and who doesn’t love our mom?

Oprah and Obama together give a very negative image for Obama campaign: both are talkers. Only thing Oprah is famous for is talking. That is exactly what Obama does, talking. He missed over 80% votes in US Senate and has been the most ever “present” Senator in Illinois Senate (meaning he does not vote “yes” nor “no” but say “ I am present but not vote”). Now the Talk Queen endorses and stands together with the Talk King, emphasizing what they are in common—doing noting but talking. What a dumb strategy! this will hurt ABC's rating.

Go Hilary. More brains than all the men running put together!!
