Newt Gingrich Would Consider A Run At Vice President

ABC News' Mary Bruce Reports: Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich left open this morning a possible run for Vice President. When asked by George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive “This Week” interview if he would consider running, Gingrich responded “I just have to say, I ran across a Reagan quote where he said that he was glad Ford didn't ask him to run because, as a citizen, he couldn't have turned him down. So I decided I'll follow Reagan and say -- the opposite -- since I'm from Georgia, I'll say the opposite of Sherman. You know, if drafted, I would run, and if nominated, I would serve.”

However, Gingrich went on to say it was an improbable scenario. “I think it is sufficiently unlikely. We're not making any plans to be writing an acceptance speech.”

Just to make sure Stephanopoulos asked “but you won't hang up the phone if called?” Gingrich simply laughed and responded, “that’s right.”

Newt Gingrich has had some great things to say about Dr. Ron Paul. Maybe he wants to join the Ron Paul Revolution and go back to the Constitutional Contract for America?

Opps. As it stands, the President can arrest any U.S. citizen and put him in jail WITHOUT the right of due process.

I was surprised and a little dismayed that George let Gingrich get by with some fantastical statements about our "founding fathers" (Adams, Washington, Jefferson) and the nature of their beliefs about religion. A very weak intellectual showing, to say the least.

...and America might consider tar & feathering you Newt, and running you right out of the country on a rail!

I think New Gingrich might just be a pretty good VP. He and Bill Clinton, and their fighting over the budget which caused government shutdown and cessation in spending, are equally responsible for the economic prosperity we enjoyed in the Clinton years. I'm a big fan of both men.
