Obama is Sleepless in Seattle
December 12, 2007 8:21 AM
ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: An exhausted Barack Obama admitted to a crowd of thousands in Seattle that it's tiring running for president.
"I am in Seattle and I am sleepless," he joked, playing off the 1990s movie title. "I don't get enough sleep. That's what happens when you're running for president."
Obama's comments came at the Showbox SoDo music venue where he spoke until about 10:30 p.m.
The evening's late event followed a late night speech in Los Angeles. Both rallies were "Generation Obama" events, aimed at getting out the youth vote. Add in some musical guests, and the kids are going to stay up late.
While bleary eyed from his effort to party with the youth vote, Obama kept a pointed sense of humor.
"I am not running to fulfill some long held plan to be president, "Obama said puckishly. "I know that folks were rifling though my kindergarten papers. I'm going to be disclosing them tomorrow. It will show that I experimented with coloring outside the lines. I was pulling on pigtails. I liked it."
After Seattle, Obama heads to Chicago for a day of rest with his family. Then it's back to Iowa for what will certainly prompt many more sleepless nights to come.
