Putting the Republican in Paul's 'Revolution'
December 31, 2007 4:40 PM
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: Republican politics in Iowa and New Hampshire demand a slightly different touch than the anti-war, anti-big government "Ron Paul Revolution" that has heretofore fueled the Texas Congressman and Republican presidential candidate's buzz and fundraising, which is up to nearly $20 million since October.
Proof positive that anti-war, uncompromising libertarian Republicanism doesn't necessarily sell where the first votes are cast is the glossy and highly produced new television ad Paul has bought time for in the waning days of campaigning in the early primary states.
The subject: immigration. The message: no amnesty.
The ad takes a hard right turn from the libertarian ant-war and anti-big government views that have gained Paul's loyal Internet following.
Paul has certainly stepped up the production quality of his ads. This latest is a glossy, highly produced effort with animated graphics and music.
Instead of hearing about Paul's opposition to the war in Iraq, voters and caucus goers in the early primary states will see black and white images of immigrants crossing the border illegally through rivers and over fences.
"For generations, Lady Liberty welcomed immigrants that came here legally, followed the rules and led productive lives. Today, illegal immigrants violate our borders and overwhelm our hospitals, schools and social services," intones a narrator.
"Ron Paul wants border security NOW," he declares, before naming a litany of conservative-sounding platform points that would have been at home in an ad for former candidate Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.
"Physically secure the border. No amnesty. No welfare to illegal aliens. End birthright citizenship. No more student visas from terrorist nations."
"Standing up for the rule of law," the narrator concludes: "Ron Paul for President."
This immigration ad follows another highly produced ad on how Paul will "defend America" by protecting the troops and disengaging the Armed Forces. It is a more traditionally Republican take than the "bring the troops home" platform that has endeared Paul to some.
While Paul continues to release paid advertising and has been stepping up his organizing in Iowa and New Hampshire as well as states with slightly later primaries like Michigan and South Carolina.
Paul was off the trail Monday and will be off for New Year's Day. He reappears in Iowa on January 2nd.
Read all the latest from the campaign trail -- Iowa to the ABC News/Facebook/WMUR debates and onto New Hampshire -- every morning in The Note.

Excellent, Paul deserves a few days off before he wins Iowa and New Hampshire ( then more ).
Of course, I am calling a win 3rd place or better, with an expectation of only 1st and 2nd place finishes, but 3rd will do just fine in Iowa, NH will be 1st, or a VERY close 2nd.

He's no different than the others and more hypocritical than most. He puts millions in earmarks on bills that he knows will pass and then votes no to show how against government spending he is.
Posted by: Louis | Dec 31, 2007 5:19:35 PM
looncraz - you have no understand of earmarks. EARMARKS DON'T EXPAND SPENDING! THEY DON'T CUT SPENDING! The money is already taken, stolen some say, via taxes and going to be spent. The question is, should the department of X, Y, and Z who are unaccountable with the public and usually waste the money spend it, or should representatives?
I can't believe people can't understand the concept of earmarks.
Posted by: Brent | Dec 31, 2007 5:32:53 PM
Odd, he's against spending money, against Social Security, against Madicare, against Fema, against Poor Children Health Care. Math for Politicians......Lower spending= do-nothing Government! This may be the worst voting record of ANY politician I've EVER researched!
Posted by: zuzu | Dec 31, 2007 5:34:59 PM
Ron Paul is a Republican fringe candidate that the Republicans won't even invite to debates. Anyone that thinks he's going to place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in Iowa or New Hampshire is in for a sad surprise after it's all over in a few days.
Posted by: jeremyfix | Dec 31, 2007 5:42:41 PM
Try reporting the news correctly for a change, Ron Paul is NOT against legal immigration, he is against illegal aliens as most of the public is.
Posted by: Patriot2008 | Dec 31, 2007 5:43:54 PM
He is also against socialism and those who hide behind the label of "Progressive" as they are one and the same.
Posted by: Patriot2008 | Dec 31, 2007 5:45:24 PM
Where exactly did the article say that Ron Paul is against legal immigration? You should be happy the media is covering him despite the fact he has no chance to win.
Posted by: jeremyfix | Dec 31, 2007 5:49:09 PM
LOL... Who cares? No Republican can win in '08 anyway. Bush's disasterous tenure saw to that. Good luck Republiclowns - you're all gonna lose. Say hello to President Hliiary. ROFL
Posted by: Jane_Says | Dec 31, 2007 5:49:25 PM
zuzu, Ron Paul isn't against those things just because. He's trying to follow... oh, I don't know... the TENTH AMENDMENT?
Posted by: Mike | Dec 31, 2007 5:50:09 PM
Ron Paul is just another looney liberatrian wackjob who wants to dismantle our government based on his absurdly narrow reading of the Constitution. Good thing the majority of Americans don't want anything to do with these rightwing extremist fools, or else we wouldn't have a government anymore!
Posted by: David Lebron | Dec 31, 2007 5:52:05 PM
He's against spending Social Security and Medicare money? Wow, good for him! We need more like him, otherwise we wouldn't be in the mess we are now with those two programs (that shouldn't even exist)
Against FEMA? Look how well that turned out. 5,000$ to anyone who asked, and then they realized they never even lived in New Orleans, nice nice.
75,000-90,000 is poor? That must mean I qualify for "poor children health care". Oh, I also have to tell you something: The bill you are thinking about, did not even say where the money was coming from. You seem to forget that we have a debt, people are poor because of inflation, because we don't have enough money, so we print money, and the value of the dollar goes down, and the middle class and poor class are eaten up by it. But no, you can't wrap your head around such talk.
Anyways, I know a few of Paul's supporters who are upset about this ad. But you must remember, there is no other candidate better than he when it comes to his positions. Apparently his campaign has resorted to pandering, and apparently Iowa Republicans loves this stuff, immigration is a huge issue for them.
Posted by: Brent | Dec 31, 2007 5:52:40 PM
Instead of logically debating, you resort to name calling. How old are you, and do you realize most of the problems we have right now is because we don't have a reading of the constitution?
The ignorance of some of these people are astounding. Everyone forgot what federalism was about, forgot the states and cities have governments, and think the federal government is the know-all-be-all of all problems. But it isn't.
Posted by: Brent | Dec 31, 2007 5:54:51 PM
Patriot2008 - socialism and representative democracy are not mututally exclusive. What good is your capitalism if millions of Americans are unnable to afford basic healthcare? The free market isn't free.
Posted by: Kev | Dec 31, 2007 5:55:10 PM
I LOVE RON PAUL.... I don't agree with everything he says, but he believes in the constitution. Tell me, how bad could that be???? HAVE YOU NOTICED NONE OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES TALK ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION?? BOTH THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ARE FOR WAR, WAR AND MORE WAR WITH OUR CHILDREN BEING KILLED, NOT THE POLITICIANS OWN CHILDREN. Ron Paul puts most of these scumbag presidential candidates to SHAME!! If you want more wars, please vote for Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Guiliani, Romney, McCain & Thompson. Wake up people!!!!!!!
Posted by: Marie | Dec 31, 2007 5:55:40 PM
FEMA worked fine until Bush and his incompetent cronies got ahold of it. Republicans always do this - they hollow out a robust and capable Federal agency or program from within until it's no longer viable (underfunding is a favorite tactic, or appointing incompetent or actively hostile leadership), and then they loudly complain when that agency or program "fails" - never mind that they're the ones who caused the failure in the first place. Sorry, pal, but the Federal Government works fine when there are responsible adults in charge. If you hate our Government so much, why don't you just leave instead of trying to tear it down from the inside? People like you have done more damage to my country than Al Queda ever will! Shame!
Posted by: Gabe Bastos | Dec 31, 2007 6:02:55 PM
Why isn't Ron Paul running as a libertarian, since that's what his real beliefs are anyway? He's a fraud claiming to be a Republican in order to win support for a very unpopular agenda.
Posted by: Dana R. | Dec 31, 2007 6:04:50 PM
brent..... If something like Social Security is unconstitutional then why hasn't anyone with standing tried to have it eliminated through the court system since the 1930's? The Constitution says what the Supreme Court says it says and in 1937 it said SS was in fact constitutional.
Posted by: jeremyfix | Dec 31, 2007 6:04:59 PM
Here's the pink elephant in the room. When we are talking about "illegal immigrants" we are talking about the native people south of the border who are indigenous to this land. Read a history book and you will realize that this once was Mexico. It took Israel nearly 1960 something years to go back to their native lands, its been less than that for Mexicans. Secondly, the US Gov. had a treaty with all people of Mexican descent, but of course America's treaties as well as its laws are only worth the paper they are printed on...Last migrants and immigrants are what make us competitve...any US born citizen fightint for a job to become a janitor or grap picker really doesn't deserve to be in this country at all. Ron Paul has lost my vote.
Posted by: AC | Dec 31, 2007 6:13:01 PM
If you think we have managed healthcare right now, you're off your knockers. We have "managed" care, every since the government got involved in the 70s and put the insurance company inbetween the doctor and patient it has been going downhill from there.
Gabe Bastos,
So, is it impossible to like small government and love America? That's what we used to stand for.
Also, what seems to be the problem with states, cities, and people helping the situation? What is a need for a FEMA? You keep saying, "But it is the Republicans that did it!" Well that is exactly the problem. When you have centralized planning, you make the whole country suffer from mistakes - both Democrats and Republicans screw up.
A man who is for small government, and is anti-war, is somehow, not Republican enough? Have we forgotten Robert Taft? Barry Goldwater? Hell, even Ronald Reagan pre-presidency. "Extremism is the defense of liberty is no vice" ? (Barry Goldwater) "Libertarianism is the heart of Conservatism"? (Ronald Reagan) Please, stop being ignorant.
JeremyFix,
? I don't believe I said it was unconstitutional, even though it very well could be. That's besides the point. Eliminating it would be crazy, and something Paul doesn't advocate at all. Phasing it out, that's the key. Allowing new generations to get off it, while respecting the older generations who depend on it.
AC,
You never were going to vote for Paul. And if you were, you are clearly lost if you think this is the biggest issue we face. We have wars, death, destruction, people are becoming poorer and poorer because of the devaluation of the dollar. And you are mad at an ad that states that we should stop giving social welfare to immigrants? Hell, we should stop social welfare, period!

What a pretentious mob, HE'S known as "Dr. NO", and here's the lowdown on this pushy do-nothing good representative, I own property at the corner, someone has posted a "Ron Paul" sign there, and everytime I take it down, it goes back up again! He is trying to avoid fair practices by getting all the free advertising he can get, campaign rules were meant for everyone, just because you found a new niche, doesn't mean he's "progressive", it means he, and his followers are trying to sidestep the intentions of the Campaign rules!
Posted by: zuzu | Dec 31, 2007 6:29:32 PM
You're right Brent, you didn't say that it was unconstitutional. You said "shouldn't even exist", which is liberterian speak for unconstitutional. My bad.

Brent, I was talking about the interview he did last week, where he was against the present child healthcare system and Medicare, "Elderly Americans and Poor children were too dependent on the government for healthcare". I CAN get my brain around your tremendous intellect, after paying into Social Security for 40 yrs. it's not fair to those that will retire soon, to slash the benefits I've PAID FOR, just because you like this candidate! Elderly people shouldn't have to give up the benefits they paid for because YOU DON'T LIKE IT. Poor children shouldn't have to go without medical care so your tax dollars can be spent repaying Bush's War-Debt.
Posted by: zuzu | Dec 31, 2007 6:40:44 PM
JeremyFix,
Do you automatically assume I am a libertarian? How about a paleoconservative? Stop assuming.
And it shouldn't exist. It has done much more harm than good. We have a 9trillion dollar debt, and 70trillion in future entitlements. We are going in debt, major debt. People are about to refuse to take the dollar, and that means everyone's standard of living is severely going to get hit, it already is. People seem to be forgetting we have a debt, and that our dollar is crashing. It seems like a non-issue to many of you, and it's very much a important issue.
Posted by: Brent | Dec 31, 2007 6:41:42 PM
Who said Paul is slashing benefits for your social security? He said he'd save money and put it into social security while letting young people get out so they don't have to pay into it.
Posted by: Brent | Dec 31, 2007 6:44:45 PM
Ron Paul said he'd have to slash Social Security benefits to save the system in that interview.
Posted by: zuzu | Dec 31, 2007 6:53:23 PM
Wow.... Social Security has done "much more harm than good". Tell that to all the people that worked for so long but have nothing to show for it except for their social security checks.

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.

Ron Paul is a nutcase. His reading of the Constitution is simply unworkable today. Fools like him think they can turn back the clock to a simpler era, but they're just fooling themselves. Our country is too complex and too big to manage without "big government." Face it, you crybabies - big government is a necessary evil and can even be a good thing. We never would have won WWII or become a superpower without the organizational muscle of big government and big government gave this nation the highest standard of living in human hstory. All your talk of shriking the government is just nonsense and it will never happen without seriously disrupting our way of life for the worse. You people are fools and crackpots.

zuzu,
No, he said he'd slash TAXES on social security benefits.
Posted by: Brent | Dec 31, 2007 7:11:50 PM
Henry Lloyd,
Nutcase, crybabies, fools, crackpots. I think you might be missing a few words.
Big government, a necessary evil? Huh? So, states can't handle anything? We need socialized everything? If a mistake is made, it will be done throughout all 50 states?
WWII was defense, not "big government".
People keep saying we have such a complex world, we can't have "small" government! Sigh...
Posted by: Brent | Dec 31, 2007 7:15:43 PM
Brent, remember your stance on asking for benefits the next time your car gets dented, or high winds take the roof off your house. If you don't collect anything.....our insurance costs will go down, big insurance companies will become deflated, and most of all, why should our insurance money go to YOU!
Posted by: zuzu | Dec 31, 2007 7:21:00 PM
So Brent, if a state government decided that they were going to provide free health care for its citizens you'd be okay with that cause it's the state offering it and not the federal government? How about a social security type program from the states for its citizens? What if it were cities that offered such programs for its citizens? Would you be against that because it's "big government" on a smaller scale?

Someone mention FEMA?Bush didnt do that, much as I cant stand him,FEMA was a mes in 1999.There was a *dry run* to Katrina by the name of Floyd.I saw neigbors lose everything, poor folk black& white& FEMA did SQUAT.So dont even try that one.Federal Goverment works best when there is less of it& when the $$$ for legitimate programs actually get spent on them.
Now,on to my Man,RP.If our goverment is too big, like Ihear ppl whining about it,well, lets DO something instead of arguing!!Hmmm, what can we do?How about getting our collective heads out of the sand for an entire election.(gasp).RP doesnt have all the answers folks, none of us do.But trashing our founding principles more every day isn't going to help,we have had 7 years of that.Continuing to fund an illegal war(oh dont give me those sad neocon puppy eyes),we can spend the $$$ to disengage. Will that bruise an ego or 2?Most likely but if our country is safer in the long run(more troops at home means they can secure our borders),then it is worth it.And you Hilaryites? Please dont get me started on where your taxes will end up(sky high)& forget democracy& capitolism as we know them for they will be gone.Don't ya'll get it?Ya'll voting for the same CHIT ya'll been voting for for 40+years & just where has it gotten us?

New Orleans was one of the MOST Religiously Based cities in America, more Churches per capita than ANY other major city. FEMA failed, but, it wasn't because of money, it was a failure NEGLECT BY THE SYSTEM!Our Government thought 5 days was an acceptable amount of time to respond....PS. Mardi Gras was not started as a celebration for gays, it was "Independence Day" for French Slaves.

And YOU ARE RIGHT, according to court transcripts, GWBush's intelligence agencies DID know about 9-11, before it happened! Good for him, now, why do you think Bush didn't act on it?

Paul will not cut social security benefits, and he has always voted NOT to use social security funds to pay other govt. debts. Right now, there govt. IOU's in the Social Security Fund. He wants young people to have the option to start retirement savings accounts and opt out of SS. He wants to stop the empire nation building and bring the troops home, and use some fo the billions saved put back into the Social Security Fund. For young people, it's a choice i.e. liberty and Freedom of choice.

Imagine a United States:
Where powerful corporations no longer have control over our President i.e. corporatism (fascism). Imagine a President that honestly and truly represents the interests of the People instead of the ultra rich.
Where our civil liberties and haebas corpus are restored, the Bill of Rights is respected, and the government no longer spies on citizens' phone calls, emails or supports torture.
Where the govt spending is reduced to where it was 10 years ago, thereby being able to cease the personal income tax on your wages so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labor. Or in combination with bringing the troops home from around the world, thereby saving a trillion dollars per year, which will provide enough money to eliminate the IRS and replace the govt. IOU with real money put back into the Social Security Program.
Troops comin ghome to protect our own borders instead of the borders of other countries.
Where the creation of honest money is controlled by Congress (as per the constitution)instead of being stolen by the Federal Reserve Corporation which is owned by foreign bankers, who receive interest on money, money that they have been creating out of thin air since 1913, which resultsg in inflation year after year.
Where out-of-control debt spending is halted, the 9 trillion dollar national debt is steadily reduced, and fiscal sanity is returned to Washington.
A President, who is a VETERAN who has a 20 year track record of integrity and support of the constitution, never voted to raise taxes or for an unbalanced budget, never voted to raise his congressional pay, and does not take the lucative congressional pension. This establishes him as the only candidate who will honestly work for American people and restore the Republic. There is hope for America, vote for Ron Paul.
Posted by: greg | Dec 31, 2007 8:14:09 PM
Ron Paul is a Christian with true Christian values. He is not like other Christians who are warmongers, who support illegal pre-emptive wars, torture, and the killing of hundrends of thousand of innocent humans. We owe nearly 10 trillion dollars, and continue to borrow money from China and others for this illegal war. We are virtually bankrupt.
There is no such thing as a "War or terror, no more than "War on Thugs". Terror is not a country, it is a tactic that can never be stopped, thus, this allows for this warmongers to continuie this war forever.
Ron Paul voted against the Real ID card, and the Patriot Act which violates are consitutional rights. He will restore habeas Corpus and our constitutional rights. As it stands, the President can arrest any U.S. citizen, take his property, and put him in jail WITHOUT the right of due process. Save the Republic. Vote for your liberty and freedom. Vote for Ron Paul.
Posted by: greg | Dec 31, 2007 8:18:25 PM
Ron Paul has certainly received the attention of disaffected Americans in his run for the presidency. Many young people and previously apathetic citizens have been drawn to the Ron Paul revolution because of his unique message as compared to the other candidates. But there are still some non-voters out there that refuse to participate in politics. They ask, "Why should I trust him?"
It is certainly a legitimate question to ask why we should trust another politician. What makes Ron Paul different from any other candidate today or in the past? Candidates say one thing and then they do something completely different once in office.
While we cannot accurately say what every person will do, we can certainly make good predictions based on the information we have. Anything is possible. George W. Bush could turn libertarian tomorrow or Osama Bin Laden could convert to Christianity, but we can reasonably predict that these things won’t happen.
There are two primary reasons why we can reasonably predict that Ron Paul’s policies in office would be similar to what he preaches. The first reason is his past record. He has been in Congress for ten terms and we can see how he has voted. He has consistently voted to uphold the principles that he advocates.
By looking at Ron Paul’s record and by hearing his specific proposals, you can be reasonably sure that he will do what he says. His message is consistent and unyielding and it just so happens that his message of freedom is the correct one.
Posted by: greg | Dec 31, 2007 8:25:27 PM
Paul NEVER says in his political page that he will cut SS, it was in the interview when he said he'd have to cut benefits to keep it solvent, find in his postings where he says he will guarantee benefits, or increase benefits to reflect the rate of inflation....anything.
Posted by: zuzu | Dec 31, 2007 8:25:40 PM
McCain wanted amnesty. He is out touch with reality. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists and defend the borders of other countries abroad when our own front door is left unlocked.
Only Ron Paul will physically secure our borders. Enforce visa rules, and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
No amnesty. No welfare for illegal aliens. End birthright citizenship.
As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
Posted by: greg | Dec 31, 2007 8:28:09 PM
PS, it certainly looks like lots of FREE advertising again....is he FOR, or AGAINST campaign rules, and is he willing to use a "lack of rules" to jump in and get internet advertising...FREE!Your first clue, should be when someone is clearly trying to sidestep laws, guidelines, and the "intention of the Laws".

Which of the Republican candidates will reverse the Military Commission Act that allows the President to arrest and detain any American who, for example, protests the Iraq war? To be held for years in a prison without the right of haebas corpus i.e. the right to have an attorney, etc.
Also, ask youself, why there were no questions during the debates regarding this gross violation on the Bill of Rights threatening your God given liberty and freedom.

Opps, the President can take your property and put you in jail if you to "pose a significant risk of committing,"
First they say you are an enemy combatant, put you in jail, without the right of an attorney i.e. habeas corpus, then they take your money and property so can afford an attorney anyhow. How nice.
Does this remind any of you what it was like in Germany during the late 1930's?
Are you getting the picture yet?
Retore the Republic, the rule-of-law, haebas corpus and the Bill of Rights.
Vote for Ron Paul.

jeremyfix,
The State Constitutions (every one has one) are much more detailed and could accept such things. I would vote against it, of course, but at least it would be at the state government.
When these things come to the state, the people can determine what should and shouldn't be. When the federal government does it, all 50 states must do the same thing. 51% of the nation could say they want national healthcare, but a state like New Hampshire would have 80% who are against it. Well, too bad for them!
The reason we have 50 states is so that each state can make it's own identity, when a state makes a mistake only the state must take the pain. When the federal government makes a mistake, all citizens will feel the pain.

Opps, Congress is trying to take away Internet Neturality, waiting on the Senate vote. If you elect Ron Paul, you will save the Internet FREE PRESS. Dictators and facists hate the PRESS unless they own it. You can be sure that Ron Paul was one of the 6 that voted against this law. He is the proposed law:
October-2007 The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Act passes the House of Representatives 400 to 6 (to be voted on in the Senate in 2008). The act proposes the establishment of a commission composed of members of the House and Senate, Homeland Security and others, to "examine and report upon the facts and causes of violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence in the United States” and specifically the role of the
INTERNET
in fostering and disseminating extremism. According to the bill the term `violent radicalization' means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change, while the term 'ideologically-based violence' means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual's political, religious, or social beliefs.”
Save Internet FREE SPEECH. Vote for Freedom and Liberty. Vote for Ron Paul.

Back before Republican got made into a bad word, a conservative was just that -conservative in the use of federal power. A TRUE conservative believes federal powers should be LIMITED to those enumerated in the Constitution. ANY OTHER POWER should be delegated to the states. That was the original design of our nation.
Maybe you're wondering why? Another thing that is implicit in the Constitution is the ability of each and every citizen to move to whichever state they want AT ANY TIME WITH NO INTERFERENCE BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. And why would they do that? SO GOVERNMENT WOULD NOT BE A MONOPOLY. You can freely choose the government that works best for you. You can freely move to another state that has like minded people so you can enjoy a government that spends as much or as little as is consistent with your views of what a state should offer.
Getting the federal government off your back is the first step to getting state and local governments that are truly responsive to your needs, instead of jackbooted bullies that push you around and confiscate your wealth to give to others.
Dr. Ron Paul is certainly the most conservative Republican you'll find in THIS lot of candidates.

Liberty - Freedom - Peace
nobody care about that crap anymore...
If America was a smarter country, wouldn't Ron Paul be leading in the polls?

Just 40 years ago a coke or a cup of coffee costs 10 cents, a gallon of gas costs 30 cents, a new car costs $2,500 and a new house cost $25,000.
Today a coke or cup of coffee is over $1.00, gas is $3.00, the new car cost is about $25,000 and the new single family house averages $250,000 or more.
Over the last 40 years, prices for all these commodities have increased by a factor of about 10 times or more. This means that in the last 40 years, the dollar has lost 90% of its purchasing power. Today you need $10.00 to pay for what you use to be able to buy for $1.00. Why has the US $ lost 90% of its value?
Because in the last 40 years the Federal Reserve has printed increasing amounts of paper money to fund excessive government spending for wars and welfare programs – and this paper money has no gold backing.
The result has been constant inflation. The US is on the brink of a financial catastrophe. The dollar is in freefall on foreign exchange markets and there are increasing signs that governments and investors around the world are looking for alternative currencies to use for investment vehicles.
The US government is in debt to Foreign Governments a total of over 2.3 Trillion dollars and that borrowed money has been spent on wars and welfare (yes – that’s 2.3 TRILLION dollars).
And these foreign governments are not all friends – almost $700 billion is owed to China and the Oil Exporting Countries in the Middle East.
Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that is discussing this coming financial collapse and understands the incredible economic dangers we face.
Save the Republic, for which is stands, one nnation under God, with Liberty and Freedom for all.
Vote for Ron Paul!

Fire them all, re-instate fair elections w/ paper ballots counted by citizens in full view of the public, and have the people wrest power back from those who have stolen and abused it.
Easier said than done, granted...but do we leave an infected tooth in our mouths just because it is hard and painful to remove it? It's time to do what we know needs to be done and quit procrastinating. The sooner we get that done, the sooner we can start healing.
Save the Republic, Vote for Ron Paul and for your right to a fair election.

The GOP base has been flailing around trying to find any candidate to rally around, unable to get any momentum whatsoever. It's only a matter of time before the focus settles on the small-government, humble foreign policy platform of Ron Paul.
I can't wait to see a Democrat running on a pro-War on Terror, pro-War on Drugs ticket against a genuine believer in liberty.

What is wrong with keeping to the Laws of our Land? Illegals are illegal, and that is a crime, why is there a problem with securing our borders, and not taking care of these people with our American taxpayer dollars?
Ron Paul is doing what is right for our Country, and it's CITIZENS, PERIOD!!!

The Bush's and Clinton's are friends, vacation together!
The trick is to get your supporters into both parties then change is impossible!

The USA does not have much of a government today. Big corporations and the federal reserve control the government. The republican top tier, as the msm call them, are all members of the "globalist establishment" whose dream is the "One or new world order". They care nothing about the citizens except to control, know where-a-abouts and know transactions of all of us. Huckabee is not a member now, but if he wins, will be inducted into their hall of fame. The rest of the world is over whelmingly for Ron Paul...why is the USA so dumb? So, the Constitution is not worth the paper it is written on a little more than 200 years after it was drawn up for the new country of the United States of America??? That's a crock....

Paul is a nutcase as are most of his followers, as evidenced by the rants in this blog. Paul totally crashed and burned on Meet the Press where he was no match for Russert's command of the facts. Paul said the Civil War was a mistake and that the slaves could have just waited to be free. When Russert pointed out that Paul professed to be for small govt but was one of the biggest porkers in D.C. in getting money for his District. Dr. Depends almost wet his pants. Time for Paul to go back to UFO hunting with Kucinich.

When all is said and done it will be Mitt Romney versus Barack Obama in November, with Romney the ultimate victor. I've been predicting this in various blogs for over a year.

LAGuy-On the contrary, it was Ron Paul that stood up to Russert revealing that Russert was using false information against him. Russert works for a corportation who sponsors make money off the war. It his job to try to smear Ron Paul, but it did not work. He had to go back 20 years to try to find some dirt on Ron Paul and it backfired. Ron Paul was right that the Civil War, it was not about slavery when it started. Regarding earmarks, Ron Paul clearly pointed out that as a Congressman, it was his obligation to get some of the money back for his district that the govt took from the people in the first place, but he voted against the final bill. Ron Paul is the only candidate that publishes his campaign donations minute by minute on his website. He has nothing to hide, like all all the other candidates.

"This mystic of politics has created a mirage of ubiquity so realistic that it can literally be seen around the world, all while simultaneously remaining shrouded in a cloak of anonymity."
Wow Greg, how very literate of you. English must have been your forte in school.
While your dedication to this man you respect is admirable, (really, I'm not patronizing you), Paul and followers like yourself are up in the night if you honestly think he has a snowball's chance in hell in the primaries. He's simply too extreme in his views to appeal to the voters he would need to even be a significant contender.
Good at English, maybe, but I wouldn't want you around in Vegas.

LAGguy- "Paul said the Civil War was a mistake and that the slaves could have just waited to be free."
Ron Paul rightly pointed out that all nations abolished slavery without going to war, and that Abe Lincoln was NOT anti-slavery, but used slavery as additional issue. Abe Lincoln took away haebas corpus, jailed newspapermen who spoke against his war mongering and even had people in Congress arrested.
Ron Paul said the Civil War could have been avoided and the loss of 600,000+ lives. Abe Lincoln could have freed the slaves by simply buying them from the slaveowners, as many other countries did.
Here is section of Abe Lincoln's speech on September 18, 1858
"While I was at the hotel to-day, an elderly gentleman called upon me to know whether I was really in favor of producing a perfect equality between the negroes and white people. [Great Laughter.]
While I had not proposed to myself on this occasion to say much on that subject, yet as the question was asked me I thought I would occupy perhaps five minutes in saying something in regard to it. I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, [applause]-that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.
And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied every thing.
I do not understand that because I do not want a negro woman for a slave I must necessarily want her for a wife. [Cheers and laughter.] My understanding is that I can just let her alone. I am now in my fiftieth year, and I certainly never have had a black woman for either a slave or a wife.
So it seems to me quite possible for us to get along without making either slaves or wives of negroes. I will add to this that I have never seen, to my knowledge, a man, woman or child who was in favor of producing a perfect equality, social and political, between negroes and white men. I recollect of but one distinguished instance that I ever heard of so frequently as to be entirely satisfied of its correctness-and that is the case of Judge Douglas's old friend Col. Richard M. Johnson. [Laughter.]
I will also add to the remarks I have made (for I am not going to enter at large upon this subject,) that I have never had the least apprehension that I or my friends would marry negroes if there was no law to keep them from it, [laughter] but as Judge Douglas and his friends seem to be in great apprehension that they might, if there were no law to keep them from it, [roars of laughter]
I give him the most solemn pledge that I will to the very last stand by the law of this State, which forbids the marrying of white people with negroes. [Continued laughter and applause.] I will add one further word, which is this: that I do not understand that there is any place where an alteration of the social and political relations of the negro and the white man can be made except in the State Legislature-not in the Congress of the United States-and as I do not really apprehend the approach of any such thing myself, and as Judge Douglas seems to be in constant horror that some such danger is rapidly approaching, I propose as the best means to prevent it that the Judge be kept at home and placed in the State Legislature to fight the measure. [Uproarious laughter and applause.] I do not propose dwelling longer at this time on this subject.
