Radio Host Swipes at Clinton During Thompson Event
December 01, 2007 5:56 PM
ABC News' Christine Byun reports: While warming up the crowd for a Fred Thompson rally, a former Los Angeles AM radio host took a swipe at Hillary Clinton just a day after a man took staffers hostage in her Rochester, N.H. field office.
"Some nut job broke in there, took hostages and apparently threatened to blow himself up unless he got a chance to speak to Hillary. Now, I found this rather odd because I always feel like blowing myself up after hearing Hillary Clinton speak," John Ziegler said. The audience laughed and applauded.
Ziegler quickly added, "By the way, the opinions expressed during this portion of the presentation are not necessarily those of Fred Thompson, the Fred Thompson campaign or anyone affiliated in the Republican party."
Later, GOP hopeful Fred Thompson took the stage and talked about his stance on national security and tax reform before a crowd of 300 supporters in Laguna Woods, California.
Thompson -- who spent Saturday fundraising in Southern California - received warm support from the crowd, even when he mistakenly said "death penalty" when speaking about one of his tax proposal’s main thrusts: repealing the death tax.
"We ought to retain all those tax cuts and we ought to get rid of the death penalty while we’re doing it," Thompson said, as the audience applauded despite the gaffe.
He then corrected himself by saying he meant "the death tax, of course."
"We need to apply the death penalty to those who would…" Thompson said, trailing off as the audience again laughed, adding, "But, you knew what I was talking about."

God, that is so true.
They are just a couple of grifters who are out to make a buck and out to turn our country into a bigger mess then when they left it. If they came to my door, I would not let them pass. Condi Rice is the only female capable of running our beautiful country. They need to go to prison and pay for their crimes against America. Nothin' but walking, lying, white trash. god help us all.

I wouldn't vote for any Mutant Dem. They are all about money grabbing. If any of the idiots get in we are in deep poop.

The last two people making comments are really out of touch with reality or they must have lots of money. The mess our country is is now would only be increased by these republican men in suits. Guess these people don't have to worry about paying for health insurance, kids in college or losing their jobs. Thanks to this administration they shifted the burden from federal to local and state taxes. Our roads and infrastructure still have to be plowed and taken care of and our children educated. Wake up if you're capable which reading your posts I serously doubt.

I thank God each day for those "Republican men in suits". I also put two kids through College and pay for my own health insurance. I work for a living and keep my skills fresh and marketable so as not to have to worry about losing my job. What I don't want to do is pay for the education, college tuition, and unemployment of all the lazy Democrats and their kids. God bless America

The democrats aren't lazy. They just failed to ever go to work when the welfare checks kept coming every month.

Yes Laternighter,,,
We all do have to worry about our own health care and putting our kids through college.
What you fail to understand is that , the reason this country is still the one country that every body wants to move to, is because most of us actually go out and earn those things ourselfs, independant of the government..
We dont just sit around , bad mouthing our country, and expecting all of our lifes problems to be taken care of by every body else.

Democrats don't wear suits?

Thompson should do well. Republicans love senile actors who misspeak.
Repubs have only ever had one idea: Screw the working class for the benefit of the greedy, filthy rich. The filthy rich do no real work. They live like spoiled little pigs by exploiting everyone else. Then they accuse the people who are working hard to make ends meet of being lazy. If they ever had to live in the real world or actually survive by their own physical effort they'd be dead in a week.

Hey Truth! Name one democrat candidate for President that is a member of the working class? Name one democrat candidate for President that gives one penny more than he/she is required, of his/her own money, to the working class.
I work hard for my money. Get off your lazy butt and stop looking for handouts. The world will be a better place. You will be a better person.

I was at the rally in the stands right behind Fred Thompson. He really gave a good presentation. He did a very good job there and it really gave an insight into the kind of great president he would be.

I didn't have to worry about the roads being plowed when I went to school, we just walked five miles, one way, through hip deep snow...
Actually, about the only one of the top rung of people that make me even slightly excited is Fred. Giuliani would be a disaster for conservatives. His law partnership represented teh Governor of Texas in the guv's successful attempt to fight back lawsuits by private landowners to keep from having their land taken by the state for the enlarged Texas portion of the Mexico-North superhighway up to OK (and beyond).
Huckabee is just a tax-and-spend politician of the worst kind. And an immigrant amnesty-guy to boot.

It is inevitable that a woman will be president one day--why does the very first candidate have to be so stultifying for the vast majority of Americans?--too much negative baggage, too volatile, to hypocritical in her "coping" with her serial sex-harassing "husband"...advocating women's rights and "woman power" while Mr. Sticky Pants, her reprobate legal "mate" molests women on a day to day basis. And finally, the USA does not want a woman who despises the military and military men--I don't want to watch another generation of Marine guards turning their backs to another damn Clinton. There are great women out there--STEP UP!

First thing to note: most, if not all, politicians are millionaires. They do not relate to most average Americans in any significant way and haven't for a very long time.Anyone that looks to Washington for any solutions to the problems and issues that they face daily is going to be very disappointed.Ask yourself the last time any politician did anything to help you...

Democrats like my family work hard and pay for our own health care and college tuition. Good for you for doing so too. But more of us don't restrict women from making choices about their bodies or negotiating fair prices with the drug companies among other things. Your guys are basically uptight and out of date. I thought the republican party was about leaving people alone to make their own choices and not invading their private lives. How times have changed.

Pro'bly because most people who back her are smart enough not to believe all the crap the republicons and neocons want to spread about her.
She is being smeared by the biggest liars in the history of this country.
Do you really expect anyone to believe them?

Hillary the first woman President?
Hope not.
Someone should compare the life and accomplishments of the first male President (George Washington) vs. the coat tail riding life of Madam Hillary...

The biggest liar in US political history would be Monica's ex-boyfriend. You know, the one who didn't have sex with that woman. Since everything that felon (impeached, disbarred liar) says can't be trusted. Everything he says about the screaming banshee should be considered a falsehood.

I love it when the people responsible for the mess tell us they are the ones who are going to fix it.
Healthcare would not be a mess if it were not for the high cost added on to ambulance chasing trial lawyers who make big contributions to liberal Democrats. The high insurance premiums paid by doctors has driven many of our best and brightest people into other fields.
How well do you think the system will work when it becomes "free"? What's next free Cadilac's if you vote for me.
Just let the free markets work and get the politicians out of it.

It should be obvious to anyone that can think, the democrat party is a party of cohesive misfits. They stick together for different reasons. They tell gay and lesbian organizations that democrats will give them whatever they want. They tell the welfare recipients that they will tax the productive members of society so that the slackers can maintain a comfortable non-productive lifestyle. The democrat party, if not defeated will absolutely devastate this country. The party is now ruled by the extreme left headed by H. Clinton, George Soros, Michael Moore, Teddie Kennedy,Sen. Harry,(We have lost the war)Reid, and various other kooks & mental defects.

First, my candidate is Richardson.
Re the comment made by John Ziegler. In
my home town, a local right wing talk
show host made the emphatic comment,
"I hate Hilliary Clinton". One thing
that both of these men have in common is
that neither one has ever met Hilliary
Clinton or any of her family. They
have been making so many negative
comments about her over the years that
they cannot bring themselves to say
anything positive about her.
It also reflects on the John Ziegler audience that they appreciated such a tasteless remark. And on Thompson for not disavowing Ziegler's remarks.
