Romney says McCain "failing Reagan 101"
December 22, 2007 1:14 PM
Fmr. MA Gov. Mitt Romney went after Sen. McCain Saturday for opposing the Bush tax cuts in 2001 and 2003.
At a campaign event in North Conway, NH, an audience member asked Romney "Could you tell us why we should vote for you over the Senator from Arizona?"
Romney first said McCain was "a good man and a national hero," before quickly segueing to the issue of the tax cuts. "He voted against the Bush tax cuts. Twice…. That’s failing Reagan 101," Romney said.
"Reagan…taught almost all of us in the Republican party that lowering taxes would grow the economy and was good for our economy and good for individuals."
McCain did in face vote against the Bush tax cuts in 2001 and 2003. McCain now says he supports making them permanent.
Romney seems a bit more forgiving of his own changes in position. "If you're looking for someone who's never changed any positions on any policies, them I'm not your guy," Romney said about changing his position on the issue of abortion while on NBC's Meet The Press.
In his attack on McCain, Romney also added that, "I believe that the Republicans are gonna nominate a tax cutter to become president of the United States."
Romney has faced criticism himself, however, for his record on taxes. Romney claims that he did not raise taxes as Governor, only raised fees and "closed corporate loopholes." Critics, including rival Mayor Giuliani, argue that closing "loopholes" and raising fees is tantamount to raising taxes.

Dear liberal ABC News. Mitt didn't attack anyone. Explaning policy positions that differ is not attacking.
Mitt Romney is the most qualified candidate running from either party in 2008.
Our corrupt liberal MSM wolfpack press needs to start reporting some "truth" and stop "attacking Mitt".

If voting against a tax cut during a war is failing Reagan 101, Reaganism is an insane benchmark. Our children and grandchildren will look upon McCain as a hero all over again trying to keep them from paying Bush's war debts. If Romney backs tax cuts during a war, he is unfit to be President.

Romney Knows nothing about Ronald Reagan! If he did he would not have
viciously attacked his fellow republicans in the debates and in his
paid advertisements!
Reagan said thou shalt not speak ill of another republican!
Mitt I voted for Ronald Reagan, who was a great President and you my friend are No Ronald Reagan!
