ABC News' Jennifer Duck Reports: Early to bed, early to rise.  That's how President Bush likes to schedule his days.  After he won the election in 2000, Bush joked, ''I'm trying to set the record as the president who got to bed earliest on Inauguration Day.''

However, the two-term president didn't get much shut-eye Thursday night.  Like millions of other Americans, President Bush stayed up to watch the Iowa caucus results.

"The President watched the returns last night.  He stayed up past his usual bedtime… to wait for the results to be announced," White House spokesman Tony Fratto said.  "The president said that these races are great tests.  You win some and you lose some, and the question is how you do in the long run."

Fratto flatly denied that the "change" theme in many of the 2008 contenders' campaigns stems from the last seven years of the Bush presidency.

"It's good to see change in this job and the way we do it.  Especially if you put into context in some of the troubled transitions we see in other countries, we shouldn't take it for granted," Fratto said.  "The way we do it we have very competitive, hardly fought election campaigns and graceful peaceful transfers of power that speak well for this country."

In the 2000 election, Bush won the Iowa caucus and came in second in New Hampshire to Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona, who is a contender in the 2008 race.

At least he can sleep in luxury while our troops he sent off to the Iraq war sleep on the cold windy sand blasted ground to fight a war that was designed to bolster his strength. I will always remember that "mission accomplished day" on the USS Abraham Lincoln as the "Mother" of all political theatrics, why would any take an unnecessary high risk landing before the world especially if they took extraordinary steps to avoid service when it really matters - unless they were just showing off, well I Guess it makes a difference when everyone is watching you . One of those peacock moments, I guess.

So like the news these days to report George stayed up late but not as late as.... Britney. George Bush sleeps all day so it doesn't matter what time he goes to bed.
