ABC News' Theresa Cook and Dee Carden Report:  Before returning to Washington from his ranch in Texas, President Bush delivered a New Year's message wishing Americans health and happiness in 2008 from the tarmac at the Texas State Technical College Waco Airport.

With his wife at his side, Bush said, "Laura and I wish our fellow Americans a happy and healthy 2008. I particularly want to say something to our troops and their families:  this country respects you, we admire you and we wish you a great 2008 as well."

"I've just come off the ranch, I had a good rest and a good New Year's with some friends and I'm looking forward to getting back to Washington to work on policies to keep this country safe and to keep this country prosperous.  But I just wanted to stop by and wish everybody a happy 2008."

Though the press gathered on the tarmac for the statement shouted questions about recent events in Pakistan, the president and first lady continued on to Air Force One without answering.

Bush arrived at his ranch in Crawford, Texas Dec. 26, after spending the Christmas holiday at Camp David in Maryland.

2008 is going to be a GREAT YEAR..It will be Bush's last year in Washington. One year from now he will have his bags packed and be sitting on the steps with the old lady and the kids at the White House waiting for a cab to take him to the bus station and his bus ride back to Texas. THANK GOD..

Impeach Bush and Cheney, They have admitted to enough crimes to convict them now. They have subverted the constitution. Made laws illegally to give themselves retroactive immunity for the crimes that they knew were illegal. They lied to Congress and the American People. To start wars with countries that are not a security threat to us. They waisted billions in graft, corruption and incompetence in Iraq.
Impeachment removes the power of pardons from Bush. How long do you think it would take to get Libby, Rove, Bolton or Billings to talk if they knew they were going to jail.
The house of cards that keeps this administration out of jail would fall fast.
All we need now is some leaders with strength and courage to put the American peoples interests ahead of their special interests and live up to their oath of office.

Bush has no concern for the environment. If he did, he would have spent his entire Christmas holiday at Camp David instead of taking a 747 to Texas for a week. To get to Camp David and back probaly uses les than 1/1000th the fuel that it takes to fly one way from DC to Texas. Never mind the trip from the nearest airport to Crawford with a 10 vehicle Secret Service escort. Does Waco have an airport big enough for a 747 to land? I can't wait for him to go on permanent vacation. I'd be willing to pay for that ticket.
