Caroline Kennedy Endorses Obama
January 26, 2008 9:06 PM
Caroline Kennedy, the sole surviving member of the late President John Kennedy, is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for President.
In an op-ed article to be published in Sunday's New York Times, entitled "A President Like My Father," Kennedy explains the reasons for her endorsement: "My reasons are patriotic, political and personal, and the three are intertwined. All my life, people have told me that my father changed their lives, that they got involved in public service or politics because he asked them to. And the generation he inspired has passed that spirit on to its children."
"It isn't that the other candidates are not experienced or knowledgeable. But this year, that may not be enough. We need a change in the leadership of this country — just as we did in 1960," she writes.
The endorsement itself is a blow to Sen. Hillary Clinton, but the last line could also be seen as a swipe at President Bill Clinton.
"I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans."

Looks like the Clinton's ship is sinking... Way to go Bill. You two have no one to blame but yourselves. Bye-bye.

I don't know much about Obama but if Caroline Kennedy thinks he is ok then that is good enough for me. I am sure she has checked on every cross hair that is available to her about him.

Powerful victory speech by Obama. It brought tears to my eyes and for the first time in my life this Hispanic Republican is going with a Democrat for President and proud to do so because above all I am American and Barack Obama has brought hope, pride and a new sense of meaning of what it is being an American. And what a wonderful endorsement by Caroline Kennedy. Bill and Hillary Clinton, finally America is waking up and realizing how foolish it has been following this pair of self-serving hypocrites. Clinton fatigue finally settles in.
Way to go Obama, YES WE CAN!!!!!!!

It is a great honor to be compared to a great man like JFK. He was one of the most inspirational leaders of the 20th century. If Caroline Kennedy thinks enough to have Senator Obama share the lime light with her father, then truly there is some hope for America.
Obama 08!

Looking forward to that endorsement hitting the newstands here in a couple hours.

Caroline Kennedy has nailed it with this editorial. Barack provides a vision for post-racial America. The medium is the message.

Obama's speech is hitting the American pulse. I think he sees that Congress is held in such low esteem because the people are tired of "gotcha politics" and that they do not want to elect politicians, but statesmen. We do not want to have to try to have to figure out what the meaning of "is" is and we do not want a dysfunctional first family. We want a President who will work with Congress for the good of the country and whose ego is not so involved with those decisions.
I am very upset at the way the Clintons have tried to use race in this campaign. It is a put down to all African Americans to say that they only voted for Obama because he was one of them. The Democrats have taken the African American community's support for granted too long and they better be careful or they may force this community to re-examine the parties in this country to see which party has the most respect for them.

Caroline Kennedy's beautifully crafted endorsement is a worthy statement befitting her parent's legacy. In addition, the fact that she has the courage and composure to lend her impeccable credentials to Senator Obama's cause at this time--before February 5th shows her strength and wisdom.

Obama is the ONLY democratic candidate that has a chance against the Republicans.
The tag team of Hillary and Bill are too polarizing. They will not garner the support of indepenedents and disgruntled Republicans...Obama can!
Yes we can!

I have always liked and admired Caroline Kennedy and appreciate her input; but she is pretty naive if she thinks that this election is not becoming all about race rather than where the candidates stand on the issues that confront this country. Does anyone really think that the vast majority of the 80% of blacks that voted for Senator Barrack Obama vote the Issues? No, they voted for him simply because he is black. This is troubling and ignorant and short-sighted at best. My vote goes to idealism combined with sincere experience. Therefore, it goes to Hillary Clinton. Senator Barrack Obama is no Senator Kennedy, either Jack or Robert.

Wow! Caroline Kennedy endorsing Obama, this is huge. While at the present moment I would vote republican.... I do know this country does not need the self-serving power hungry couple in the highest position of this country.

Caroline Kennedy does not exemplify her father. She is a lawyer and a writer. Not by any means an activist or anything of that nature. Lets not get swept up in her name. Everyone, is so media orientated, It is like watching sheep being led off a cliff.

The majority of Obama's supporters weren't even born when President Kennedy was elected. Obama supporters feel that hope and talking are going to get this country on it's feet. Since when did experience and hard work become a bad thing for democrats. President Kennedy was a war hero, you can't compare the two.

Please tell Caroline Kennedy that Barack Obama can't win. They told her father he'd never win because he was Catholic. Wow how far we've come how slow it's been.
You'd have to have lived the 60's to feel the meaning of her words. She isn't a celebrity. Her father was assinated because of what he stood for... would you put yourself in that position? She deserves our respect. We owe her far more than that.

well like what Sharon Clover said that obama speech almost brought tears in her eye.well am very happy for sen.Obama and i was eating when he came on stage to give his victory speech,i waited for him till he finished given his speech. But what get me freak most was that the three spiritual american word....YES WE CAN!!!!! this was a spiritual unifying language among all race, that no matter what the clinton tried to do had failed..up OBAMA and my you live long and never stumble in Jesus name.

Way to go Caroline Kennedy. I admire your courage for standing up for what is right. Obama is surely the best candidate that could revive this country and bring about the changes that our great leaders (like JFK, A.Lincoln and many others alike) have yearned for.

Would JFK have disparaged the late Senator Paul Wellstone as a "gadfly"? Obama did. Wellstone is the moral giant that Cheney threatened over his opposition to the criminal invasion of Iraq, just before his death in a plane crash tipped the Senate to the Republicans. Obama is no JFK, and he sure as hell is no Paul Wellstone.
Obama is CFR approved, owned and operated, just like Clinton. He will let the Bush/Cheney regime retire in comfort as "elder statesmen".
Watch Obama and Clinton miss the crucial vote on telecom immunity for illegal spying on American citizens. Then ask them why they could not be bothered to uphold the 4th Amendment of the Constitution.
The only real "change" candidate, Kucinich, has been shut out of the debates and silenced.
Honor Dr. King and judge these candidates "by the content of their characters", not their gender or the color of their skin.

What an amazing endorsement of Sen. Obama. He inspires me. I was born on the 24th of November, 1963. I've admired and been entranced with JFK and RFK for my entire life. Everything that I've read about them seems and is a part of my belief in Sen. Obama. His speeches stir my soul. Now that Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg has endorsed him...wow! He's made it!

I agree that Kucinich is the most honest politician. I really like Kucinich but we are fighting against powerful forces that can and will turn against us in a moments notice. Barack Obama is extremely intelligent. He has to be very careful. Assassination is not out of the question. He cant fight Kucinich's fights and WIN. Impeachment in necessary but putting the power of the Presidency into the hands of the status quo wont change the world. We have to elect an intelligent visionary leader like Barack Obama!
