Clinton Courting Richardson Endorsement?

January 12, 2008 2:42 PM

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, who rarely gives shout-outs to her Democratic rivals, whether they are in the race or out, delivered an ode to Bill Richardson.

Speaking to Sheet Metal Workers in Las Vegas -- Clinton said to the crowd, "I want to thank two people, one of whom is not here and one of whom is. Bill Richardson has been a friend of mine for a long time. He is a distinguished, accomplished American public servant. He has given of himself to the Congress, to the cabinet of our administration when my husband was president. He has served with distinction as the governor of New Mexico. And he broke through a barrier by running for president."

The crowd cheered for Clinton's Richardson's comments, which took up about 45 seconds out of her 12-minute speech to the union workers.

Sen. Clinton, who doesn't speak Spanish, nodded as Sen. Bob Menendez, Raul Yzaguirre, and Henry Cisneros praised her in Spanish. A sign that read "Juntos con Hillary Una Vida Mejor" was above the team.

Clinton was well received by the crowd and was cheered during her short stop at the factory.

Gee, I wonder if the Hispanic vote has anything to do with crawling toward Richardson.

Hey, Nevada. She is the media established candidate; the big defender of corporations; the candidate who plants questions in campaign events, the candidate who leads by polls and not principles, the candidate who has nothing to run on but her husband’s accomplishment, the candidate with the highest unfavorable rating in the history of the Democratic party; the Hawk; the candidate who voted for the Iraq war; the candidate who said we should only talk to our friends; the candidate who leads in negative campaigning and said attacking other Democrats is the fun part of it.

Hillary is the Dems' Bush.

Nevada, Obama has walked in your shoes, he is on your side. Clinton is really on the side of the corporations, and is acting like she is on the side of the worker only to get elected. She pretends to be on your side to get votes. She just did that with Richardson, she is doing it with you, she does that everywhere she goes. YOU CAN TRUST OBAMA he has always supported labor, and doesn't change whatever way the wind blows.

Obama lives well in over $1.2M mansion, with the help of his corrupt friend, Tony Rezko. He hasn't help the poor in his Illinois district. He is all for himself. Look at his donors, they all are the rich. where have you been bob10001 ?

Richardson already told his Iowa supporters to make Obama their "plan b" candidate in the caucuses.

Politics, politics- do you think Google Trend's helps us predict whom will vote for whom?

Google Trends is a very useful tool to see and compare what people are searching for. Seeing that 75% of all searches made are via Google.com, this allows one to get a snapshot, as Google says, "of what's on the public's collective mind."

How does it work for elections- could it be a gauge for what people will vote for? Here is a Google Trend's Chart for all of the major candidates:

Obama has walked in no ones shoes but his own. His foreign policy is scary in this day and age. Choose real proven change, someone who can handle foregin policy. I hope Mrs. Clinton chooses Mr. Richardson as her running mate, it would make a awsome team!

Hillary can forget about Richardson. He told his supporters in Iowa to vote for Obama on the second ballot. Also, on IMUS last wek Richardson made some harsh remarks about Bill and Hillary. Richardson will either endorse Obama or no one. This really shows her desperation to get an endorsement.

She's looking under rocks for any endorsement she can find. If she's such a hot shot, you'd think US Senators would want to come out now and jump on the bandwagon...or are they trying to distance themselves? Gotta love it!

Sooo..he's to be the new Vice President. Totally harmless and non confrontational. No political threat to her or anything she wants to do.Loves to travel to far away negotiations.Perfect, and he might help with the Hispanic vote
He's been running for that job for weeks

Hillary said somehting nice about a friend. There is NO WAY that Hillary could possibly do all the manipulation of other people and conniving of situations that everyone keeps accusing her of doing. People and situations are not predictable enough to act in a predictable manner. HA! NH primary proved that one!!

I hope people realize that Obama is all talk/show and no action. I have not heard him answer any of the real tuff questions about what he exactly he means when talking about change (this is dangerous). People need to really think about what it is you really want and ask.

Bill Richardson and Hillary are a powerful tool.... Go Hillary

Hillary is a seasoned, experienced, POLITICIAN. Also a female of the type that will do and be whatever she needs to win. No doubt her famous tears were due to the fact that she could well loose what she feels she "deserves". Be aware she is now doing a fairly good copy of Obama -- in the content and manner of her speeches, etc. She no longer comes off as distant, cold and whatever she has always been in the past. Just food for thought.

Barack Obama is a good candidate for president. Hillary Clinton is a great candidate tough enough to beat all in the Republican field, including, the aristocratic mayor of NY, Mr. Bloomberg. She will win Nevada, SC and on Super Tuesday. I have never been so passionate about a campaign. I am predicting with all certainty that Hillary will be our next President. This is a historic moment for the world's greatest democracy.

@tigerjcs

obama does not take pac money or money from lobbyists, hillar clinton does. get your facts straight.

she won`t win november, she scares away independent voters. they are far more comfortable with obama.

Hillary does care she has a record of it. This sexism should STOP, you wouldnt want people being racist towars Obama so dont bring you narrow minded views here.

Nevadans are very smart they will support the person who is sitting down and talking and listening to them....Not someone who is having rallys that frankly remind me of Hitlers Nazi rallys ....where everyone chants for Obama and listens and follows based on nothing! Scarry I think.

Hillary is an unprincipled manipulator. Like Bill she will say and do anything to win, trashing blacks and their heroes, lying about her opponents, and turning on her own waterfall show to win the sympathy vote. Nothing she says can relied on and America would be better off without her as president installing the Clinton cronies and plunging the country into years of divisive gridlock.

Ian: You hit it right on the head!
Richardson was and is an old Clinton buddy and will most likely be Hillarys VP pick if she wins the nomination!
He stayed in the New Hampshire Primary so he could pull enough votes from Obama and help Hillary win!
Then he suddenly drops out after the primary! Why not drop out before the primary? He had no chance before or after! The only reason for staying in would be to help his old pals the Clintons!

The US presidency is a serious job. Not the "American Idol" contest. It is about people, their dreams, hopes and future. It is not about fancy slogans, unknown CHANGE(s) and sing along rallies. Please evryone, Get Real and fast

Hillary is too corrupt to be in the White House..Bill Clinton pardoned criminals for their vote for Hillary in the past...Hillary has an expensive healthcare plan that will require you to be on HER plan, monopoly on healthcare basically.

Hillary takes dirty money from special interests, she is so corrupt that it makes a saint cry. Well Republicans won't let her get in the White House along with other smart American Democrats, etc. As a Democrat I hope she doesn't get the nomination so a Democrat can get in. Lucky a great candidate like Obama has a great shot.
