Clinton Event Disrupted by "Iron My Shirt!"
January 07, 2008 7:07 PM
ABC News' Kate Snow and Eloise Harper Report: During the middle of remarks in Salem, New Hampshire, a man bolted up in his seat, about 12 rows back from the where Sen. Hillary Clinton was delivering remarks waving an orange hand-down sign with the words "Iron my shirt!"
The man started yelling "Iron my shirt!" "Iron my shirt!"
Clinton was a little confused at first.
Then a second man, on the side of the theater, also jumped up with a similar orange sign and started yelling "Iron my shirt!"
Clinton said "can we turn up the lights in here please? It's awfully dark." Then, as police moved toward the protestors, she deadpanned: "Oh the remnants of sexism alive and well today!" The men were removed by police.
When Clinton resumed she said, "As i think has just been abundantly demonstrated, I am also running to break through the highest glass ceiling."
That drew a standing ovation.
When the applause conluded a few minutes later, as she went to start taking questions from the audience, Clinton said: "If there's anybody left in the aud who wants to learn how to iron his own shirt, I'll talk about that."

They sound like Clinton plants

Politico---Clinton and Obama, Johnson and King
Clinton rejoined the running argument over hope and "false hope" in an interview in Dover this afternoon, reminding Fox's Major Garrett that while Martin Luther King Jr. spoke on behalf of civil rights, President Lyndon Johnson was the one who got the legislation passed.
Hillary was asked about Obama's rejoinder that there's something vaguely un-American about dismissing hopes as false, and that it doesn't jibe with the careers of figures like like John F. Kennedy and King.
"Dr. King's dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act," Clinton said. "It took a president to get it done."
Clinton didn't explicitly compare herself to Johnson, or Obama to King. But it seems an odd example for the argument between rhetoric and action, as there's little doubt which figure's place in history and the American imagination is more secure.
"The power of that dream became real in people's lives because we had a president" capable of action, Clinton said.
The interview was taped, and I listened in. It's set to air later today.

wow...how convenient that these two idiots happened to bring these signs today after the teary-eye display earlier. Plants for sure.
I was never really for Hillary, but I always respected her for her work and the work of her husband.
Sadly, those feelings are long gone. Hillary you are pathetic. You are definitely the candidate for change...you appear to have multiple personalities. You hope to manipulate the american people with these phony public displays.
Look I am for Obama, but voters, please vote for anyone other than this crazy woman, republican or democrat.

I think it would have been well within the realm of responsibility for the police to have jailed the protesters and to have conducted an extensive interrogation just to ascertain who planted them at the Clinton rally. I was told today that the Clinton
"plants" for which she apologized for at a recent rally were actually enjoined by members of the Obama team and that they were actually paid for the operation by the Obama team. We will never know for certain. The only way to resolve the issue in the future is to make it a felony for a politician to lie or foranyone to lie in or for someones behalf.

She planted those guys for she of course wants to rev up every wommen of any color to vote for her.
There is nothing she would not do to win and then claim how she leads and commands men.
She would have done better if she as a women for once went to the front lines and fought for this country

PLANTS!
The last time I checked, Clinton has secret service detail. If the morons were for real they would have been questioned and their names would be in the story. What won't these so-called people do to get elected?

Did someone forget to water the PLANTs?
PLANT!
PLANT!
Come-on Klinton Korp! You can do better than that!

They were radio personalities from the Toucher and Rich Show on WBCN in the afternoon. Stop looking into this any further. They were definately not plants.

Not plants. Just jerks. They used to host a radio show in Atlanta where I live. I stopped listening to that station because of their sexist and frankly, very offensive and immature rhetoric. Hillary Clinton is the best candidate - no question about it. There are so many supporters out here who aren't lemmings jumping on the media bandwagon against her. For a more realistic and non-vitriolic view visit the NY Times editorial page today.

They weren't plants, they were from 104.1 wbcn in Boston ... they both work for the 3-7 show Toucher and Rich, and they are absolutely hilarious. Lighten up.

We should be more concerned about how our enemies view women. I tried to sign a real estate contract with someone from the middle east. He would not deal with me, or my female real estate agent. I doubt very much successful round table peace talks with men who have been taught to dispise women if she were elected.

So if someone shouted "Pick my cotton" to Obama, would you guys think that was a plant?
Seriously, that's messed up. She did not plant these people and she does have to face a lot of sexism.
Posted by: Sammy | Jan 8, 2008 1:01:23 PM
Misogyny thrives when good men (and women) remain silent. Thank you Sammy! Plant or no plant, the message is offensive and it's much more of a subtext to this election than we as Americans choose to acknowledge. The media has been the polar opposite of Clinton "boot lickers" as referenced above.

"Somebody said to me the other day if there was ever a time for a woman president it's now because we're going to have to do a lot of cleaning. Grab your buckets, grab your brooms. We're going to have to do a clean sweep because there has been a culture of cronyism, corruption and incompetence."
