Clinton in South Carolina: Take A Chance on Me
January 24, 2008 1:29 PM
ABC News' Kate Snow, Susan Kriskey and Eloise Harper Report: Senator Hillary Clinton asked to voters in Greenville, S.C. Thursday to "take a chance" on her.
Clinton has been running on a message touting her experience. Her husband, former president Bill Clinton, has said that voting for Senator Barack Obama was a "roll of the dice."
Clinton has hammered her message of strength and experience, telling voters in the past "you don't have to take a chance on me," and that voting for her is not a leap of faith.
Clinton, who is polling poorly in South Carolina against Obama, may be feeling the heat and is positioning herself as the underdog in this race. Asking "the voters of South Carolina to take a chance" on her - might be a reflection of how she sees the race in this state.
Clinton's husband has been stirring much controversy for going after Obama in South Carolina. The Senator has defended Clinton saying she is happy to have him campaigning for her.
While introducing Clinton in S.C., Fletcher Smith, a local politician, jumped to the former president's defense. "I am so proud of Bill Clinton," she said. "Any man who will not stand up for his wife does not deserve to have a wife of the caliber of Hillary Cllinton ... so if you hear any criticism about Bill Clinton, you tell them that Fletcher Smith has Bill Clinton's back."

When are the American people going to wake up and realize that Clintonism is a sham and should be stopped before it continues to destroy the very principles and morals which created this great country.
Their deceitfulness and unbroken promises to under privileged people, specifically the black community, who supposedly were close to their hearts during their campaigns and gave them a majority of their votes. Their questionable investment schemes, which would have resulted in the conviction and incarceration of the average middleclass investor, were not prosecuted. Their issuance of governmental contracts generously rewarded their financial supporters, and in many cases, at the expense of the poor. Hillary’s questionable contracts and retainers while an attorney at the Rose Law Firm of Little Rock, AK. Hillary’s numerous corporate board appointments, which many conflicted with her public position and philosophy regarding the under privileged. We all know about the immoral acts committed while governing those who supported their leadership for change. We can’t forget the Clinton’s Arkansas administration and their participation in the Iran-Contra debacle.
If all the eligible voters in this country knew the real Clintons and their political machine and pacts, there wouldn’t be a front-runner named Hillary and Bill Clinton in any election! I would suggest reading Roger Morris’s book, ‘Partners in Power The Clintons and Their America’.

Obama will win SC, he can't afford to lose there or will be over for him; but the whole bickering and mud slug fest between him and Hillary have showed to all of us that he is just another dirty politician capable to do anything to get elected. He's a fast learner as he did here in Illinois.

You Obama supporters need a serious dose of reality. Obama is a serious politician and you are too young and naive to get that. Teri is right about Rezko. Perhaps, you all should do yourselves a favor and do some serious research on Obama before you go out there spoutting the talking points that were brainwashed to you from the Media.
What I do not understand is this: If you all are so positive and looking for a new day in America, NOT filled with divisiveness, then why are you all being so divisive and hateful on these blogs? Seems pretty immature and desperate to me. More importantly, why are all of you being so negative towards your fellow Democrat, Hillary? Are any of you Democrats? It seems like you all are behaving like those hateful Republicans -- you know, the same ones that we hear over and over again on hate/talk radio?
Wake up and try to behave like Democrats --NOT Republicans. Your hatefulness and vitriol are a direct reflection of your candidate, Obama. And, your case for unity and HOPE is looking more and more like a Fairy tale.

Ginger - when you say we should research Rezko, are you implying that Obama isn't qualified to be the nominee because he has a shady figure in his past? By that standard, Clinton would be disqualified 20 times over.

Hillary, I think you lost that chance to Edwards when you stop campaigning in South Carolina and left the state to Monica's ex.

Clintons, you sure want to go back to WH ? Watch out, Monica is following you.

Regarding Bill Clinton's support for Hillary, Mr. Fletcher should have said, "... any man who won"t LIE for his wife..."

Obama has the potential for President--in about 10 years. He is no match for Hillary; she is amazing. She seems to have total recall of past events, has a great grasp of issues, and can speak in a way that is understandable to the majority of people. Her answers during the debates have substance. Obama flounders and delays in coming up with his answers and combacks. In other words he "can't shoot from the hip."
I want a feisty, quick thinking President, another "Give them Hell, Harry."
