Clinton Mum on Iowa Polls
January 01, 2008 2:48 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: In one of Clinton's longest campaign speeches ever, the senator from New York came out hot.
"Happy New year everybody!" Clinton, D-N.Y., shouted to a large crowd gathered in Ames, Iowa. "Starting Thursday night we are going to take our country back!"
On New Year's Eve, the influential Des Moines Register Poll which showed Clinton trailing Obama by 7 points, there was no talk of numbers from the candidate.
While introducing the former first lady, former governor Tom Vilsack, D-Iowa, spoke of the "momentum" the campaign has after two new polls "indicat(e) that we are winning," referring to The recent takes from CNN and Zogby but neglecting the Hawkeye state's leading newspaper.
Clinton took questions from the crowd -- explaining that at the beginning of the day she starts out on time (implying that is why she can take questions here) but later in the day she runs behind (implying maybe no questions later in the day.)
The Senator was asked about her reaction to the Des Moines register poll on by a reporter on the ropeline but just kept on moving.

After she loses Iowa and New Hampshire I'm sure we'll start hearing that crap
about the "come back kid"!
Not this time Hillary Clinton is going down for the count! Adios!

Won't you get a surprise! If you are aware of what's going on and I think you aren't, Hillary doesn't need Iowa and Newhampshire. Where have you been? Bill Clinton skipped Iowa, lost in New Hampshire and went on to win the presidency twice. She was told to skip those 2x4 states and campaign in the big ones. Obama and Edwards need them because there are states that will not vote for him as president. She will capture those states and call it a day. Edwards and Obama can go back to what they were doing and that is nothing!!

If you are a Regan fan, he is long gone dead for years. And apparently you are one of those idiotic republicans that failed the presidency that's why this country is in a mess. The democrats have to pull us out of this mess and it is not Obama and Edwards. They are a mess themselves. Hillary will win the nomination no matter losing in Iowa and New Hampshire. Bill Clinton did it twice and she can do it. There are states that will definately not vote for Obama. Their votes will go to either Hillary or Giuliana. Those two are going to end up as the frontrunners no matter what you think. Huckabee should be preaching instead of running for president. Kucinich is a joke. All he has going for him is his 6 million dollar campaign fund. He never had a chance to begin with. And the polls change from hour to hour, the voters are the ones who decide not the polls. Polls are just estimates and make up to look like Obama is winning one day, Edwards the next day and then Hillary. The newspapers are liars from the word go. Half of their stories are fabricated.

From her quote -- Who is she taking the country back from? She supposedly helped run it for 8 years! What differentiates her from Laura Bush besides a failed Health Plan and Tax hike that cost the Democrats the House and Senate in '94? And voting for the war? Someone pin her down and explain her experience outside of being a polls-chaser. Being Bill's wife doesn't count. If she's elected, it will be 8 more years of gridlock because the Republicans are passionately anti-Clinton. The Democrats need a new leader to bridge the divide. She's just another slippery politician who does what it takes to get elected. She went from the 'inevitable candidate' strategy to the 'candidate for change' strategy -- except she is 'the experienced candidate'. If she's so experienced and such a great leader, where's the change been since '92? She is incredulous. Now she supposedly loosens up and brings mom and her kid along for the ride. That epiphany happened to coincide with recent polls. what a surprise. She's got Bill's slickness without the smoothness. Too bad he can't run again. Independents in Iowa -- it is up to you start the change the culture and end gridlock. Please please please go VOTE!
