Clinton: This Is Personal
January 23, 2008 10:00 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Speaking in North Bergen, N.J., Sen. Hillary Clinton was brought on stage by Sen. Bob Menendez. Menedez spoke in Spanish and riled up the majority-Hispanic crowd.
A banner behind a group of Clinton supporters read: "Juntos con Hillary, Una Vida Mejor."
Clinton rattled through her stump speech. She told the crowd that she is going to need their help cleaning up the White House and suggested they bring their brooms and vacuum cleaners to help.
Clinton closed with a line that she doesn't normally use.
"This is really personal to me," Clinton said. "I want New Jersey to be with me not just on Feb. 5 and all the way through the election in November."
Then Clinton began chanting/yelling, "Will you help me? Will you help me? Will you help me? Will you help me? Will you help me? Will you help me?"
After that members of the crowd chanted back, "Will you help me?" -- and the cries soon turned into calls of "Hillary! Hillary!"

"...suggested they bring their brooms and vacuum cleaners to help."
This is what she thinks of them, maids and servers! It's a shame they are to stupid to see that. Man, we need some major Immigration reform...
Oh and 'the this is personal to me', well that was John Edwards line. This liar and her camp co-opts everyone's message. I will delight in voting for the Repubs. for the first time in my life b/c of this nut case.

Wow Christine, calling Mrs. Clinton a nut case is pretty harsh. You might not agree with her policies or direction for the country, but calling someone a nutcase is very inappropriate. I see a lot of this overt hostility in many Obama supporters. Why is that???

Barack Obama is a statesman who speaks of uniting America to solve our problems as a nation. He is running for president on "us" not "me". On Sunday he spoke of this in Atlanta, check his website and you will hear his leadership. Clinton offers nothing like this, for her it is all about "me". Is a campaign really supposed to be "personal" ?How many times did she chant "help me", what about helping "us"? I thought that's what a president was for.

Why so much difficulty with Hilary. She is only the most accomplished capable candidate running (check her record, all of it). This lady can fight, this lady can govern. She tells the truth and she beats the media. She'll win in SC because Bill was the first black president and will make a darn fine First Man!
Posted by: rvormwald | Jan 23, 2008 10:32:40 PM
With Hillary, it's all about HER. Just helping HER. Sure, it's PERSONAL to HER.
Is that what we really want in a president? I don't. I'll be voting for anyone but HER.

Diane, you clearly are not informed, Hillary distorts the truth to suit her needs.
Bill is also desperate to make up for all the deplorable humiliation he caused her. Obama is merely speaking the truth which clearly YOU cant handle.

To be fair Scott, Mr. Obama made some remarks that were not the complete truth either.
Posted by: Jay | Jan 23, 2008 10:52:32 PM
Republicans for Hillary, stop McCain.

"Brooms and vacuum cleaners"?
Posted by: MZ | Jan 23, 2008 11:34:30 PM
Come on now, get real Obaminites. Hillary was speaking to a group of blue collar workers who are Janitors, maids, and work in the hotel and farm industry. She was not condescending in any way. And you people say Hillary can spin, wow... !!!!
Posted by: Jay | Jan 23, 2008 11:36:54 PM
Mrs. Clinton has been an elected official for eight years. Obama has been an elected official for eleven.
By my calculations, that leaves her with the experience deficit.
Also, she is kind of a jerk. anybody notice that? Ew.

Why don't you research the work that each of the candidates has done and then base your choice on that. This country needs a COMPETENT leader. We're at war, we owe trillions of money and a lot of people die because they can't afford healthcare and all you people care about is to bash. If a lot of you are well-off and don't care about the issues then can you please at least have COMPASSION for the people who are in dire situations and will even be worse-off because of the dwindling ECONOMY.

Rachel:
What I do notice is that Mr.Obama is very condescending, smug, and has a severe superiority complex.
I have met Hillary, and in person she is warm, genuine and very charming.
Posted by: Jay | Jan 23, 2008 11:42:50 PM
Jay, yes Barack falsely denied that he was in favor of a single payer health care package. He made a mistake not admitting that he favored it but truth be told that plan makes more sense.
Billary is actually continuing her distortions and lies with ads stating Obama endorsed republican proposals during the Reagan years. He did not say that at all. Her accusation is simply not true period. She makes me sick. Bill is an adulterer and Hillary has earned no respect for her support of him. Do you remember theyre lies while he was in office? "I did not have sex with that woman!" Ok fine lets not look at theyre moral values. She's a scorned woman riding the coat tails of a humiliated President.
Very sad.

I am an Independent and a HILLARY supporter. If Hillary does not get the Democratic nomination I will vote for a republican.

Uhhh....Obama has a a "superiority complex"? Have you listened to a single thing the mn has sid, read his books, researched his body of work?
Which Hillary campaign office do you work in, Jay? I am certain that she is very "warm, genuine, and charming" if you will work to get her what she wants.

The Washington Post graded the candidates' economic stimulus packages:
Barack Obama: A-minus. I criticized his previous tax plan, but Obama is at the head of the class with an intelligently designed, $120 billion stimulus plan. He would speed a $250 tax credit to most workers, followed by another $250, triggered automatically, if the economy continues on its sour path. Obama would direct a similar rebate to low- and middle-income seniors, who are also apt to spend and could get checks quickly. One demerit: Obama omits any increase in food stamp benefits, which Moody's estimates would have the greatest bang for the buck, $1.73 for every dollar spent.
John Edwards: B-minus. Edwards gets points for handing in his paper early -- in December, he issued a $25 billion stimulus proposal (plus $75 billion more if needed), including important help to states to avoid cutting Medicaid rolls. But like Hillary Clinton (see below), he would spend too much money on programs -- investing in "green collar" jobs, for instance -- with too long a lag time to make them an effective stimulus. Edwards's grade goes down because he also hasn't explained how the $75 billion would be spent.
Hillary Clinton: C-plus. Clinton, too, raised the issue early, then turned in a faulty first draft with a $70 billion stimulus plan that didn't provide much immediate stimulation. It included a $25 billion increase in the program to help low-income Americans with heating costs -- an excessive amount (the current program is under $3 billion) that probably wouldn't kick in until next winter. Even worse was her housing plan, including a five-year freeze on subprime mortgage rates that could produce higher interest rates and reduce liquidity.

Hilary is so fake. You have to remember she softened her stand after the NH primaries, when she realised softenning up wins her votes. I really find it hard to trust that woman. Her campaign style has really dmagaed her reputation. Why not just compete rather than attacking the opposition with false accusations. She says ont thing, then backs it up with another. She will say anything to wein votes. Sometimes I wonder , these die hard supporters od Hilary, why cant they see her for what she really is????

1996: Hillary Clinton testified before a federal grand jury about the billing records from Rose Law Firm and Whitewater. In 2002, Independent Counsel Robert Ray released his final report on the eight-year investigation of the Clintons, saying they had not obstructed justice or committed perjury, BUT THAT THEY HAD GIVEN INACCURATE TESTIMONY.
So they are known for inaccurate testimony with crocodile tears, what kind of leader would she become if she is elected to the White House.
The World suffer two much under Bush, we don't want another leader that will be economic with the truth as a World Leader.
