ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: After fielding questions about race and her loss in South Carolina that was fueled by black voters overwhelming support for Obama, Clinton rhythmically swayed in her seat as the choir sang "I need you to survive" -- She waved hand in the air and even sang some verses to the song.

The New York Senator, delivered a speech – focusing on Martin Luther King and the celebration of him and spoke about the need "to take a step back." Clinton spoke about the "people in our history as a human race who has transcended race and gender and every other category we use to define us and sometimes divide us. Dr King was paramount." Clinton said repeating King’s message "we have no boundaries we can not over come."

Clinton also spoke about Christ's message of loving thy neighbor saying - . "that’s hard but then love your enemies that is way too much. I try, honestly reverend, I try and I think we all do."

Clinton was at the Monumental Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.

Too true, Mr. Berry, too true. Hillary expects people to come to her, instead of she going to them. What a concept! I noticed she had no fear of going to San Francisco's Chinatown this past summer. HMMM.

How can you believe anything the Clintons say?

Bill Clinton said to the American people "I did not have sex with that woman."

Except he did.

Hillary pledged to the Democratic Party she wouldn't campaign in Florida.

Now she is.

I ask you, is this Bush, or what?

Hey Steve, I am both of those (Puerto Rican) and you know what? Latinos didn't vote for Bill Richardson because he is Latino. They are voting for Hillary because they know where she stands on the issues, especially right now with home ownership and debt. They also remember the Clinton years which were pretty good as far as we're concerned. So you can bash the Clintons all you want, it just makes us stronger in our support, because we have a REAL reason for supporting her. My fellow teachers support her for her stance on children issues and education. So go ahead and scream racism, seems like you all love using that wedge......

Well, GW was going to be a uniter, now Obama is going to be a change artist.

Really? What are the specifics. I'm probably going to vote Republican as long as crazy Rudy isn't in the running, but if given the choice between Clinton who certainly has her Sunday non christian haters, and Obama, she's way out in front.

For sound reasons, not on the basis of some 'change myth'.

I just think its funny to continually see stories about Democrat politicians (who only seem to find themselves in churches when the cameras are rolling pre-election) keep cropping up. The sheer political/racial nature of this church visit is amazing - but she'll get a pass, especially from the liberal religion-haters who characterize church-goers in general (but from "the right" in particular) ad knuckle-dragging uneducated droolers.

Go Hillary - visit yet another black church, speak with a fake southern/black affectation to your voice, and watch the press and some corners of your constituency lap it up. Yay!

Yeah, I'll go with the Republicans this time around, they've got baggage to, but I know about it. It seems the Democrats are trying to hide their candidates backgrounds behind a facade of sweet soundbytes about change. Hillary seals papers at her husbands library and Wellesley College. And Obamas support for the Kenyan socialist revolutionary Raila Odinga disappears from his webpage. Including pictures of Obama with Odinga during a Kenyan campaign rally

Blahhhh haha haha haha ....

Its as if I, Rip Van Winkle like, fell asleep for a time and now find myself in another dimension ... a dimension in which Marxists actually believe in God and equal rights for non-Whites ...

Hillary is going to Florida AFTER all votes are cast. So the campaign is florida is over when she will arrive there.

If you can not read a map, please do not comment. As a native Memphian, this church is located in the heart of the black community. Thank you Senator for coming to our churches, we will always welcome you!

Its amazing. Even when joking, her natural instinct to oppose, hate and attack come out. Why even go to that place about loving enemies being too hard?

Why is it true that Clinton's voting base consist of WOMEN, SENIORS and LESS EDUCATED?

Posted by: Ann B. | Jan 27, 2008 5:47:46 PM

Ann - I am not a senior and am very educated, and am voting for a winner - Hillary. You may want to study a little more. And not only whites are voting for her.

Pandering is what the Clintons do best. It doesn't matter if it is Blacks, some Church, Hispanics, Edwards voters by lying on his record, you name it they will do it.......

Obama is so honest! Yea, Right. Go to Chicago-Sun Times and do a search for Tony Rezko. See how honest and what kind of integrity he does have. Quit playing "pretend." Join the real world.

Posted by: HELENA | Jan 27, 2008 6:14:00 PM

I can see how you would come to that conclusion given the fact that: Obama's largest base is among those that are 45 and under, college educated with an annual salary of 100,000.00+. He also has a good deal of support among sub groups ie. (soccer moms, younger women)..etc. In any case, it is NOT true not all of Obama's supporters are young people. That is a lie. Another lie is his base is Afr. Amer. that is a huge lie (and it might be a slap in his face I don't know - the guy seems to not care much about race.).

But, again, I do understand why you made those assumptions considering: she does enjoy more overall support among women than he does (he was gaining but the Clinton Machine fixed that), and blue collar workers are falling over themselves to support Hillary (for some reason perhaps it's visions of the 90's) but your assumptioms are not fully accurate. You are somewhat correct but not exactly.

Posted by: Dana | Jan 27, 2008 6:24:37 PM

Helena - I'll see your Rezko, and raise a Hsu. And let's face it, I'll win because I have a lot more dirty Clinton ties to play.

Posted by: Paul | Jan 27, 2008 6:26:56 PM

I could dwell on Obama's transformation from a caught-on-tape Reagan Groupie in Nevada, to his Country-Boy-Southern-Activist Preacha' accent he put on in South Carolina, but that's just too easy to prove.

Is this what he means by "transformative politics?"

Any body voting for Hillary is voting for Socialism in the first case

OBAMA ALL TALK?

The idea that Hillary has real programs and Obama does not? -- just wrong. All you have to do is navigate his website or contact his campaign. Hillary does have detailed plans, but Barack's are as detailed and in many cases much more specific than hers. On tough issues like social security? Barack takes a a courageious stand to lift the ceiling on wages subject to the tax. Hillary? She says appoint another commission.

Hey! Irma, I'm also a LATINO and I do not belive a word that "Hillary says she is a habitual liar who will say and do anything to get elected and she will throwus LATINO's under the bus once she is elected she is an abuser and all latino's should unite behind Obama he is the change we all need".

Posted by: Juan | Jan 27, 2008 8:36:03 PM

Bruce, good point. I remember when Obama was criticized for being too substantive too early - like back in May and June of last year. Clinton was criticized back then by some for not being substantive enough - and I was among those reminding people how early it was to be expecting substantive proposals by any candidate.

But I'm guessing we both know that a lot of these posts now saying Obama has no substance are merely for political effect and have no bearing on what the author(s) might actually think about Obama's positions.

Anyone who can find their way here can find their way to a candidate's website, where all the candidates have substantive discussions of their positions.

GLORY, you have the perfect name. Thank you for making your comment. All this stuff has made me so tense about the whole race issue. It is so nice to hear someone who is not about politics but plain 'ol kindness.

Posted by: irma | Jan 27, 2008 10:08:41 PM

Is it necessary to make comments about religion and knowing whether Hillary is sincere or not? Evidently we have many non-believers on this post as no religeous person could be so evil minded about others.

Ward: Even though Bill Clinton lied in office, I'd trust him over Hillary any day of the week.

Posted by: James R. | Jan 28, 2008 12:42:02 AM

Bruce, I agree with you. And I would like to note that there are apparently those here who have not been doing enough reading...Obama's economic stimulus package was given an A-, while Clinton's (the more 'experienced'?) was given a C+.
Many of us Obama supporters strongly support him because we HAVE read a lot -and not just HIS plans, but hers as well...and decided that inspiration and a positive message, in addition to a diverse resume and great plans, wins over an 'ok' plan packaged with devisiveness.
Obama, in my opinion, will make a great, unifying, 'get-things-done' President.

Hilliary's picture on the Drudge Report shows her trying to hold back tears. Is she crying or what!

Posted by: fay | Jan 28, 2008 8:30:16 AM

Fay: She was definitely crying.
