Edwards: 'Two Races Down...48 States To Go'
January 08, 2008 11:03 PM
ABC News' David Muir and Raelyn Johnson Report: Speaking to several hundred supporters packed into the Tower Mill in Manchester, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards made it clear that even in a distant third place he was moving forward. Elizabeth Edwards, along with the entire Edwards clan welcomed the former senator. She vowed that the goals they have for the country are still in sight in with an Edwards presidency.
Edwards hit the stage congratulating both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama. Then added, "two races down 48 states to go." He added that 99 percent of the country have not voted yet and deserve to have their voices heard.
Edwards summarized his 2004 campaign as one where he spoke of hope, and this campaign as one where he speaks of principles and action. "We know what needs to be done," said Edwards, suggesting he was the candidate with a backbone to stand up for the American people.
Edwards concluded his speech saying he's in the race until "we reach the American dream" and asked the 99 percent of people who haven't voted to join his grassroots campaign.
Edwards' parents Wallace and Bobbie were on hand, as well as his children Cate, Jack and Emma Claire Edwards. Edwards hit the stage to the tune of U2's "Pride (in the name of love)"
Edwards heads to South Carolina tomorrow with events in Clemson and Columbia.

The people have spoken in NH, the pundits, the big media and the rigged pollsters that can easy manipulate people opinion all of then LOST! The incredible biased media in favor of Obama, the outrageous biased against Clinton and the total write off of Edwards. Their manipulative tactics lost. the people won. Now the same pundits, media should focus in the issues instead and we'll have a campaign; but they never learn the lesson.
And what of the Obama wave? That wave crested and has turned. His candidate will have more scrutiny and he should be held to the same standards than any other politician running for the Presidency.
Good night for democracy in the US. Shame on CNN's Blitzer among others, MSNBC starting with Chris Mathews, ah...and Tapper from ABC. They should learn to be real unbiased journalist!

John Edwards--nice guy, no chance of winning. He's not even going to win South Carolina. Didn't really help the Kerry-Edwards ticket either, didn't carry North Carolina. Suffers from the one-term experience issue and left the Senate four years ago...BTW his standing up to corporate America is a big laugh.

John Edwards tried to ride the Obama wave and listen to polls and change his message and in the end he fell flat. Be yourself John.

Amazing how self-serving John Edwards can be. Just the day before he said Hillary Clinton was finished. Now he wants to point out that 99% of the country haven't voted when his butt is against the rope. John, why not be the good father and husband - get off the campaign trail and take-care of your terminally ill wife?

tomcat 27834, your comment is just rude, to the point of being hateful. People get really brave when they can post somewhere anonymously, don't they?
If he isn't your candidate, so be it. Why attack the guy for being a bad person?

The best thing John Edwards can do now to bring about the Change that he has been talking about is to get out of the race now and throw his weight behind Obama. He is splitting votes with Obama by staying in the race and making it look as if they are ganging up on Hilary. If Hilary wins the Dem candidacy, ALL the Repubs will unite against her and the Dems will miss the White House again. Mark my words.
