Giuliani Moves to Put 'Almost Everything' in Florida
January 11, 2008 4:28 PM
ABC News' Jan Simmonds reports: Rudy Giuliani told the press this afternoon his campaign has plenty of money, despite the decision of some staffers to forgo their salaries this month.
"Well some people volunteered to do it. We didn't ask anyone to do it. They volunteered to do it because they want to stretch out the money," Giuliani told reporters following a Town Hall in Coral Springs, Florida. "We have quite a bit of money and they wanted to make sure we had even more money at the end of this situation in Florida. So that we could have, I guess, that we had enough on the air or whatever."
He was later asked if he thought his campaign would have enough funds remaining after the Florida Primary on January 29th to compete on February 5th's Super Tuesday.
"Yeah, we'll have some," noted Giuliani. "But frankly Florida is really important to us, so we are gonna put if not everything into Florida, almost everything."
The former New York Mayor also was questioned about his former Finance Chair Roy Bailey. ABC News reported earlier today has left his position with the campaign to return to the private sector and his position with Giuliani Partners.
"People shift around all the time and they do different things," Giuliani said about Bailey.
He also added that it was his understanding that no one "has really decided to leave" adding that he thought "people have shifted responsibilities including in this decision".
Giuliani then turned to a staffer for guidance who said "Roy has not left in any capacity." Following the presser the campaign came back and said that they had misspoke, again confirming that Bailed had indeed left the campaign.
Campaign sources say that Giuliani and Bailey remain close personal friends and that that other issues, such as travel demands, were the primary reason for his stepping down. They add that the decision was not in regard to the campaign’s ability to raise funds.
Still with his campaign in some flux, Giuliani remained steadfast that he and his campaign were acting fiscally conservative.
"We don't have any debt. We don't have any liabilities of any kind," said Giuliani. "We got a good deal of money in the bank. Probably more than just about any campaign. And this was an effort to even stretch dollars further...We are probably one of the most fiscally conservative campaigns and certainly on the Republican side."

It is amazing to me how much the American media does not want Rudy to be President.
No one seems to report on the bold and innovative ideas he is floating and the only ones who are paying attention are his competitors who try to mimic his ideas at every corner.
This guy is clearly the most competent candidate in either field.

I recall Giuliani was combative with the media as Mayor as well, sort of like Bush gets at times.

The media will hound the best Republicans and report anything negative or spin a lie if it will harm them. The lib media is a bastion of chicanery and outright dishonesty in reporting and they will push the Dems as they desperately want Hillary to win. This election so far is a sham. At the Dems debates, the lib media mentioned illegal immigration not one time as a front to protect Hillary and Obama. It is sickening watching our elections be bought and paid for by the lib media.

Rudy is the only intelligent candidate in this race. The fear from his oponnents is that once he peaks in this race, it will be impossible for anyone to catch up with him. I like Rudy's stand on tax, foreign affairs, immigration and much more. The only candidate laying out the middle america approach to things. Go Rudy!

"We don't have any debt. We don't have any
liabilities." said Rudy.
You also don't have any supporters!!!!!!!!
Hmmm....To the very few supporters out there, I think you had better do a search
on Rudy and the connection with Cintra. It has to do with the NAU or the merging of U.S., Canada and Mexico. Rudy stands to make MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM THIS HIGHWAY the king of Spain. Still like Rudy now???????

Rudy, the phoney-baloney "hero", is responsible for tens of thousands of New Yorkers and others being un-necessarily exposed to deadly asbestos. Of course he was just following orders given by Bush and Chernoff ("The Skull")
BUT Rudy ought to have VERIFIED whether or not the enemy was telling the truth, which of course they never have done.

Who are you calling the enemy? Sounds like you and Harry Reid are related to BinLaden who was pulling for Kerry last go around. You libs neeed to stop being so freaking hateful and anti-American. As for Rudy, the lib media will hound him and run him into the ground because "journalists" are bought and paid for by the DNC. Watched NBC lately? They are also flagrant in their support for the Dems.

this is not legal--Rudy's just shifting campaign staffers to his business payroll instead of the campaign's.

Mitt Romney is by far the best of all the conservatives. As for Michigan, they should be running ads asking Mitt to lead this nation so they can become prosperous again. This great nation is lucky to have someone with his qualifications and credentials desiring to serve us. Make no mistake, he is the only candidate who can win the White House and usher in the positive change so many people want.
Giuliani is a is a good Mayor, but he's not going to win over the conservatives. McCain is history, literally. Good at war, not much else. Thompson is a good man but he's too old also. I don't have to say anything else about the remaining candidates, they aren't conservative and they preach doom and gloom. We've had enough of that from the Democrats.
It's time for everyone to get on board and support the only hope we have - Go Mitt Romney - lead us to victory!.............GO MITT !!

Americans can't stand him. He is a crook . It was insulting for the MSM to tell everyone that guillani WAS THE NATIONAL LEADER IN THE POLLS 2 weeks before the Iowa caucus. Insulting the Americans intelligence with that nonsense. duplicate agenda as Bush , so the best place to go steal, where else FLORIDA

What he really may be doing is to find the money to pay the new Director of his new "Catastrophe Advisory Committee". Joe Allbaugh. Remember him. He's the one who helped manage the 2000 Bush campaign and went on to become FEMA director. After leaving FEMA he formed a company to secure business from government contractors. During Katrina, he was a major player in the securing of contracts for KBR, Halliburton, Kelloggs Brown & Root, Shaw Group and more, competing against small and minority contractors and pushing them aside. He later became an advisor for Giuliani and now has been appointed to Rudy's new "Castastrophe Advisory Committee."

It took rigged electronic voting just to make it appear he got more votes than Ron Paul in New Hampshire. It is time for him to mumble 9/11 to himself repeatedly on his own!

Watch the rigged electronic voting win Florida for Rudy! What a state to go after, known for its rigged elections!! Heads up everyone!

When a company doesn't have enough money to pay its employees, it's time to close up shop. In Rudy's world, it's time to celebrate.

Dear Bill and Allen The Dems could run Charles Manson and beat any one of those empty suits. The repubs are going to take one of the most savage beatings in the history of politics. This country has tired of this

Folks outside of NYC have no idea who Giuliani *really* is.
I've known him and his associates for the past twenty years.
His primary goal: Advance Rudy.
That's it. He talks a great game, but find out what he's really about before you vote for him.

Rudy has unsavory characters for friends and is a serial cheater. Plus he has become a warmongering Neocon,as bad as Bush or worse. Rudy is bad for America period.

"Roy Bailey left the the campaign
to return to a paying job;
staffers "volunteered" to take
no pay" Rudy continues to use
large private jets, stretch limos
fancy hotel suites, the best life
has to offer for himself, wife
and entourage. Rudy lost in
Iowa and NH.
Florida - please, please do the
rest of the country a huge favor
and put this guy out of the field
by having him come in last.
Please end our misery.

Silly Mitt`s supporters need to know that the rest of us see Willard Romney for the flip flopping, phony he is. After watching Mich suffer severe eco woes for a decade, why is he only now promising to turn it into an eco "powerhouse?" BTW, Mich voters know that is as unrealistic as his chances.

Rudy's lack of respect and Fox debate bias: It was shown clearly with one question—the moderator, Carl Cameron, addressed Paul and in a very smug way asked “another question about electability, do you have any? . . .your differences with the rest of the Republicans on this stage have raised questions about whether or not you can win the general Republican nomination sir.”
Let’s keep in mind also that the Faux debate team are supposed to be political experts that understand the political climate and know where the candidates stand and how people have voted in the elections. As of right now Ron Paul has more delegates than Giuliani or Hunter, and more total votes from Iowa and New Hampshire than Giuliani, Hunter, and Thompson!
Who should really be questioned about their electability? The man snickering in the background [Mr. 911] whenever Paul speaks might be a good choice.
Paul’s response was great and displayed exactly why they kept him out of the New Hampshire debates—he exposes them for the irresponsibly inaccurate, disrespectful, big government-loving, Bill of Rights tramplers that they are.
“You’re suggesting the Republicans should write me off because I’m a strict Constitutionalist?. . .I’m the most conservative member here, I have voted against more spending and waste in government than anyone else. So you’re suggesting that I’m not electable and that the Republicans don’t want me because I’m a strict fiscal conservative and because I believe in civil liberties? Why should we not be defending civil liberties? . . . Let me see if I get this right, we need to borrow $10 billion from China, and then we give it to (Pakistani President Pervez) Musharraf, who is a military dictator who overthrew an elected government, and then we go to war, we lose all these lives, promoting democracy in Iraq. I mean what’s going on here? And you’re saying (I am) not appealing to Republicans?”
(Applause)
