Giuliani: Negative Campaigning Causing Primary To Descend To Clinton/Obama Level
January 26, 2008 6:48 PM
ABC News' Jan Simmonds reports: "Some of my opponents are engaging in negative campaigning, using words like dishonesty. This is the thing that our primary will descend into the kind of thing that Senator Clinton and Senator Obama had going on," said Rudy Giuliani this evening at a press availability in Orlando.
"So I'm gonna try and remain positive, we're gonna talk about the things we can do for America, the things we can do for Florida. And I think that is going to be the winning strategy in Florida."
For the past two days, the former New York City Mayor has been playing "mister nice guy", trying to stay above the fray in the back and forth between John McCain and Mitt Romney.
"The reason that I am being positive is I believe that is the way to win," added Giuliani. "It seems to me we sorta got that message when we say what happened in Iowa with Mike Huckabee. I think the American people are sending us a message. They want us to be positive."
When a reporter tried to see if Giuliani would pick sides, Giuliani declined.
"We gotta get above that, so I'm not going to get involved in that back and forth," Giuliani said when asked whether agreed with John McCain that Mitt Romney should apologize for his remarks earlier this year about the surge. "I think what we should talk about is what is our position on Iraq. My position on Iraq, and it has always been, you've all covered me from the beginning of this campaign, it was the same now as it was in the beginning, our goal in Iraq is an Iraq that is stable and an Iraq that acts as an ally."
Through it all, the former Republican national frontrunner said he still believes he would win on Tuesday despite slagging poll numbers saying, "Florida will pick me and I believe they will pick the next Republican candidate."

When McCain comes out with such outrageous lies such as Romney said he believed in a set date to pull the troops out, then Romney needs to call him on it.

Romney is the only one respectable Republican candidate and he is rigth to call McCain on his lies. Irak war is eating all the US economy and brigning the world economy on its knees, we do not need it, an economist like Romney will be good for the world than a war sipirited McCain

Rudy knows all about being negative just ask the city workers, labor unions or firefighters and they will gladly show the videos of his blatant, boorish, and outlandish attitude towards those who don't go along with Rudy's way. If it wasn't for his walking around surrounded by cameras on 911, this guy would be left alone to count his days with Judi. Every person he's surrounded himself with is corrupt. This is not a leader this is a crook. Just look into his Mideast ties and profits with "Giuliani Partners", or catch his interview with Tim Russert on MTP; And you will get a good look at how empty Rudy really is.

Rudy's a hack, and a neocon. All of the GOP candidates are empty suits, destined to lose in November.

Other then Ron Paul, Rudy and the other Republican war mongers will support the following:
The Military Commission Act that empowers the president at his discretion to declare any U.S. citizen as an enemy combatant and subjected to detention without charge or due process, which could include anti-war protesters.
The John Warner Defense Authorization Act which allows the president to declare a public emergency and station US military troops anywhere in America as well as take control of state based national guard units without the consent of the governor in order to detain disorderly American citizens.
The National Security Presidential Directive 51 which establishes a new post-disaster plan allowing the President to be charge of all three branches of government for as long the Presidents determines the duration of a national emergency, instead of the Congress making that determination? In otherwords, dictatorship.
The curren tbill before the Senate called the The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Act which allows the government to spy on all Americans Internet and email communications.
Sort of reminds me of the late 1930's in Germany.
