Huckabee Takes a "Swing" At Romney

ABC News' Kevin Chupka Reports: This morning, while visiting two polling locations in Tampa, Florida, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee had some fun with reporters and a few supporters out waving their "I Like Mike Signs."  He stopped by the Westchase Golf Club here where one of the golf pros handed him a 7 iron and asked him to take a swing.

Huckabee, who has never golfed joked, turning the club in his hands, "do you hold this end, or THIS end?  It'll be like Mitt Romney eating fried chicken."

But one jab at the former Massachusetts Governor was not enough, "I played putt-putt one time, does that make me a life long golfer?" referring of course to Romney's comments last spring that he was a life long hunter only to have it revealed that he had hunted twice in his life.

Huckabee can joke all he wants, but here in Florida Romney is way out ahead forcing Huckabee to strategize for Super Tuesday next week while Romney battles Senator John McCain for the all important winner-take-all delegates here in the Sunshine State.

While Huckabee may have thrown a light-hearted punch or two at one political rival, he had kind words for another, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Asked if he was surprised by Giuliani's drop in the Florida polls, Huckabee said, "In many ways I am.  Ya know I personally like Rudy.  I think he's a strong candidate, but I believe that the decision that he made to not participate in the early primaries took him sort of out of the conversation and by the time we got to Florida people just weren't talking about him…it doesn't mean that he's not a strong candidate and frankly an outstanding leader in our party."

Having shaken some hand and answered some questions in Florida, Huckabee is now off to Missouri where he has stronger numbers.  He'll hold a rally and fundraiser this afternoon before watching the Florida returns tonight in St. Louis.

A vote for Huckabee is a vote for Liberal McCain. Social conservatives and Evangelicals trust me you do not want this.
Huckabee is a wonderful and skillful preacher but that is not going to be enough.
I am wondering why we don't see his family? Is it because his son has been in trouble several times with the law. Or is it because they are terribly overweight? If you cannot manage your own home can you manage the country?
There is a lot of jealousy and hatred towards Mitt Romney, his children and his religion.

Mike is such a 'nice' guy. Is he envious because Mitt has good looks, brains and wealth.

I know that Mike had to register for presents when he left the governor's mansion after 25 years of marriage. I know he had 3 ethics violations while governor. Then he wrote a book about the Jonesboro students killings.

What a nice ethical moral guy!

I hear Huckabee and I heart Rudy......a Huckabee & Rudy ticket would be great. These two need to stay in the race til the end no matter what. Romney and Mccain alone are no choices to make.

"At Golf Course, Huckaby Hits Romney..." was how the link to this article started out, and I must admit that I was hoping for a "Gerry Ford" moment...

What does it say about a guy who lies about something as insignificant as killing varmints?

Mike Huckabee is the best candidate in 2008. His platform is the Republican platform. He's for cutting spending and tax cuts. But he's not so focused on tax cuts that he doesn't recognize the need for maintaining and improving aging infrastructure. Without roads and bridges, guys, commerce goes back to oxen and carts. Take a look at how he's managed his campaign to see how he can manage the Nation's budget. Take a look at his approval ratings after more than 10 years as Governor. Bet Romney wishes he was as popular and he was only Governor for 4. Mike Huckabee IS the real deal.

Huckabee is the only true pro-life candidate. He is the only true defender of Second Amendment rights. He is the only true defender of marriage. He is the only one who wants to get the government off of the American taxpayers back by eliminating the federal income tax, the payroll taxes, the inheritance tax and the capital gains tax. If you believe in these issues, Huckabe is your man.

Huckabee is soooo passive-agressive. He is a very nasty person wrapped in a preacher's package.

Hckster is a fraud

McCain is for amnesty and is a liar
The only choice left is Mitt

Romney is the only republican that has the skills, the brains, the optimism, and the experience to fix this country. He comes from a very strong FAMILY background and you can see this from his family being so supportive through this all. He doesn't just have his wife at his side, but his ENTIRE family! The people closest to him are in total support for him and will back him up as great guy, which says something the other candidates can't say.

Huckabee? Does he ever discuss issues?

Like why he promoted and increased sales tax on food? I guess that he needed money for his scholarships for adult illegal aliens.

Which is why he and John McCain are all buddy buddy--neither one tells the truth on issues and both are pro-amnesty/illegal aliens.

I want someone who has actually created real jobs in the real world.

We need a strong economy with an optimistic leader. McCain is an old grouch who is so far inside Washington DC he doesn't eve know that having a former Mexican Cabinet member on his staff is a major ethical lapse! (Juan Hernandez, John McCain's "Hispanic Outreach Coordinator" was on Presidente Fox's staff in charge of helping illegal aliens get benefits in America).

...Mitt Romney is presidential

Huckabee - the only true conservative in the race. Don't let Limbaugh pull the wool over your eyes. For some reason, Limbaugh is not willing to research Huckabee's record. He takes Romney talking points and repeats them as truth. Can't trust either one of them. Sad that my hero Limbaugh is no better than the drive-bys.

Well that's because Romney just bought clear channell which syndicates Limbaugh, Hannity, Medved, Prager, etc., "Don't mind the men behind the curtain". Think thy're gonna crap all over their boss! They're not that dumb!
