McCain to the Movies? Not Today

ABC News' Bret Hovell reports: Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., had an election day tradition in his runs for the House of Representatives and Senate: he would go to the movies. Too late for last-minute campaigning to make much of a difference, McCain liked to take his mind off the election for a few hours, and redirect his nervous energy.

Saturday's South Carolina Republican primary might be a source of some nervous energy, too -– but McCain is staying put in his Charleston hotel, resting and getting some work done.

McCain joked with reporters on his campaign bus that if he had gone to see a movie, he’d pick one that could be a metaphor for his campaign: "There Will Be Blood."

Over the summer, McCain's campaign organization imploded, many staffers were laid off, and a few quit in a high profile fashion. The campaign was nearly broke, but McCain was able to come back to win the New Hampshire primary earlier this month.

But with McCain's loss to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in Michigan, South Carolina's contest has become crucially important to McCain's chances of being the Republican nominee.

McCain did not go to a movie on election day during any of the three previous major contests this election cycle. He was traveling most of the day of the Iowa caucus, spent New Hampshire's primary day resting at his hotel, and flew from Michigan to South Carolina earlier this week, on the day of Michigan's primary.

So, what movie did McCain not want to see?

"We've ruled out 'No Country for an Old Man,'" McCain said, referring to the Coen Brothers' movie "No Country for Old Men."

If elected, McCain would be the oldest man ever to start a first term in the White House.

We need to understand the world today before voting for a beginner or for someone who's just in the race trying to make history. we are living in a hostile world today, we need someone like John McKeen to be our next president, who has the experiance of war and peace, the good and the bad,he's been there. I hope everyone thinks before voting this time, just to vote for a party or just to be on the side of the ones who's trying to make history will not be good enough, this election.

no John , I won't vote for this mysterious John McKeen , he's not even on my ballot.............all the people running have the experience of peace and war....we're in a war now John , though it does not make the papers much...if you mean he knows war as a soldier does than I want to remind you some Presidents with no military background at all got us through very hard times , including several wars . Don't let them scare you John , you are an American , not a dog. Don't let these guys fool you by pretending to be big daddy for you....it's we the People this country is about.......stand up , do the right thing.....be an American .

Vote for John and sign up for his wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Watch as he gives illegials your social security benefits, and brankrupt's it sooner. Hope you like to work into your 70's. If he gets in you'll have no choice. I hope you like working while the value of your dollar goes down thanks the free trade, and your paid even less while big buisness get's bailed out. A vote for John is a vote for Hilliary. They are one and the same.
