New Hampshire GOP Ditches FOX Over Paul and Hunter Diss
January 05, 2008 4:44 PM
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: The New Hampshire Republican Party is officially withdrawing itself as a sponsor of the FOX News Forum Sunday in New Hampshire.
Party leaders object to the network's exclusion of Rep. Ron Paul, R-Tex. -- who received 10 percent of the votes at the Iowa caucuses, and Duncan Hunter, who received none.
They had called earlier in the week for FOX to change its criteria and include Paul and Hunter.
Hunter does not register on national polls, but Paul does have support in the single digits.
Paul is expecting to do better in New Hampshire, where voters pride themselves on their independence.
"The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field.
Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures," said New Hampshire Party Chairman Fergus Cullen in a written statement posted on the party's website and circulated to reporters by the Paul campaign.
"Consistent with that tradition," Cullen said, "we believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums."
"This principle applies to tonight's debates on ABC as well as Sunday's planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed."
"While we understand that FOX News continues to move forward it is with regret, the New Hampshire Republican Party hereby withdraws as a partner in this forum."
Paul's campaign spokesman applauded the move.
"The New Hampshire Republican Party did the right thing by pulling its sponsorship for Fox’s candidate forum," said Ron Paul 2008 spokesman Jesse Benton. "Fox News' decision to exclude Congressman Paul is unfair, but it won't stop Dr. Paul's message of freedom, peace and prosperity from resonating with the people of New Hampshire."

BTW, Hunter DID receive many votes in Iowa, though the percentage was as low as Giuliani's, because neither candidate campaigned in Iowa. He registers in national polls as well. You need to check your facts.
Lots of folks here in New Hampshire like what they've seen in Duncan Hunter and would like to see more! Why is the mainstream media desperately trying to avoid him??? Is he the true conservative we NH 'Pubs are looking for?

If the Republican candidates had any guts they would boycott the debate as well. It would be a real good time to take this counrty back from the Big Business Media Establishment.
But that will never happen because Romney, Guiliani, Hucklebee, McCain have no ability what so ever to think for themselves.

About 20 Republican state representatives from New Hampshire have called on the other candidates to pull out of the Fox forum. None of them will, of course.

If the other republican candidates really cared about America and the democratic process, they would refuse to debate if all the candidates were not included. Just goes to show, it is every man for himself, with no regard for the American people!!

You would expect this from CNN, but now we can list FOX with CNN as bias media trying to push their agenda on the rest of the world.

Bravo to Fox for keeping the fringe
candidates out of the debate!
The MSM has written enough about Ron Paul and Duncun Hunter,Mike Huckabee,
and Fred Thompson! None of them has a snoballs chance in hell of being elected
president! Romney, McCain, and Guiliani
are the only Republicans with a chance of winning the general election which I assume is why the MSM spends so much time writing about Paul, Hunter, Huckabee, and Thompson!
On the Democrat side Denis Kucinich has been excluded without much fuss from the MSM! Double Standard?

Too darn bad that more people haven't heard/listened to Duncan Hunter - He's head & shoulders above the main media stream pack. I like some of Ron Paul's ideas, but face it, he's brilliant nuts - something about those glittery jumpy little eyes. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with all Hunter's ideas - sanctioning China & putting the brakes on the "Red Threat"- good - but b/c they limit their birthrate - idiocy. Border protection, strong defense, killing terrorists fighting as mercenaries, deporting illegal aliens, limiting taxes, reducing Federal government size & scope - all the right stuff for me.
Run Duncan, Run!

ABC, Thank you for giving Ron Paul a shot in this debate. SHAME!!! on FOX News for having Rudy Giuliani in their debate even though he was lower than Ron Paul in the Iowa Caucus results.

I will never vote for a candidate that the corporate-media tries to shove-down our throats. Anymore.
Any candidate that the bought-and-paid-for media ignores, is LOGICALLY in this day and age NOT BOUGHT OFF. Of course the other candidates don't have a spine.
Ron Paul is the only candidate that will fix this mess of a country. We are all in this together, and big media needs to get with the program and support the message of freedom and personal liberty... THIS IS AMERICA.
Obama promises "real change", but he doesn't say anthing. Paul explains HOW we can FIX our own problems.

Everybody knows Fox News is not really a news channel but a neoconservative PAC.
They really should have to register with the government as an agent of a foreign power as the owner is an Australian.

Tonight on the fox "debate" it was very obvious to anyone with even a passing interest in the issues being discussed, that either these candidates are dumber than rocks, or they think we are. I for one am getting pretty fed up with "the I was a hero" candidate John McCain. The phrase comes to mind (the last defense of a scondrel is patriotism). Ron Paul stands head and shoulders above these corporate prostitudes.

Good for NH GOP. Their main man O'Riley got a little upbraiding as well. The gall of O'Riley, someone with no class, calling an aide to Senator Obama low class. Speaking of Obama, I'm amazed we're almost a year now since Barack announced his intention to run for president. I have been on several blogs tonight and people keep saying they need to know more about Obama. One blogger posted "when is the news media going to ask Obama about his programs, I need to know what and how he intends to change". After a year, two biographies, questioned in numerous debates, talked about on hundreds of blogs, how much more do you want to know? Haven't any of you asking this question ever heard of GOOGLE? Use that keyboard beneath your fingers. My word, just type in Obama in the search box and it offers two million five hundred fifty thousand articles pertaining to Obama. Probably even find if he wears boxers or briefs if you look long and hard enough. Use your head and your fingers, don't wait for the media to do the job for you. Go to his website, he is one of the few who not only outlined his proposals, but also spelled each one out in a PDF file fully explaining each and every issue. Try to do what you were supposed to have learned to do in kindergarten, or for some in grade school, READ!

We have a sub prime crisis in government. Its no wonder the average American is in credit card debt up to their eyeballs.

Fred Thompson is so dull. Let me put it in terms that i can understand. Um er ahh, printing money leads to high priced health care. He is indeed a good actor, or he's really stupid.

That nutcase is not giving up anytime soon. He stated he's in the race as long as his supporters want him in and judging by his donations, that might be awhile. I say that's a good thing, he pushes the debate toward the solution. The rest of the candidates offer "complex" solutions that demand complicated bureaucratic "programs" much to advanced for us common people to understand. After a few decades of witnessing this government in action; I'd say only a nutcase would believe "complex" programs and bureaucratic "solutions" can fix anything. I hope I spelt bureaucratic right, that's always a hard one for me to get.

To the first poster - I checked the facts
The only person to campaign less in Iowa then Ron Paul is Duncan Hunter.
Guliani campaigned more. Thompson and McCain campaigned 3 times as much - yet barely edged him out. Please check your own facts.

Hello, those in the granite state. It is very unfortunate Duncan Hunter is not included. Yes he is the true Conservative of all (R) candidates. If you are looking for someone who most resembles the Conservatism of Ronald Reagan and the movement in general he is the man.The discussion always tturns electability, which is unfortunate because he lacks National name recognition. This has come into play like it or not. I feel we republicans are going to be left with an less than ideal candidate that I will vote for just so none of the Dems end up in the White House

Ron Paul 08

Fox is trying to cling onto their most favored candidate - Rudolph Giuliani. Giuliani by far gets the most mentions and most favorable coverage on Fox.
The problem is that Ron Paul is going to trounce Rudolph again. Ron Paul got the highest number of Independents in Iowa - 29% (where the total independent mix only was 13% of all voters) and New Hampshire has soooo many Independents up for grabs (44% of all voters) Ron Paul will get plenty. So Fox is trying to do anything to prevent Rudolph from losing by such an embarrasing margin.
And of course Giuliani's spin-meisters will again be claiming they didn't campaign in New Hampshire - just like they did in Iowa (where they spent the same number of days as Ron Paul....).
Ha, ha, say good night Rudolph... too bad you are not as electable as Ron Paul!
Only Ron Paul can carry enough Independents in the Fall for a GOP win!

For you Hunter fans: Hunter even beat Rudolph in 4 Iowa counties.
Yep, "America's mayor" dead last to Duncan Hunter.

"Fred Thompson is so dull. Let me put it in terms that i can understand. Um er ahh, printing money leads to high priced health care. He is indeed a good actor, or he's really stupid."
Steve, it sounds like you are the stupid one. Printing money leads not only to increases in health care, but everything else too in case you haven't noticed. Printing money and making a computer entry in the Federal Reserve's computer is how inflation is created. Having the rest of the world taking their dollars out of their matresses and dumping them in the banking system is reversing our ability to print money without seeing price increases. I think Thompson will soon be also saying that we should not be going into wars without a declaration of war by Congress. He seems to be reading the Constitution. It's nice to see that Ron Paul is making converts. Ron Paul has written books on economics and foreign policy and no other candidate can even hold a candle to him. Ron Paul is conducting a crash course and some of the pupils are begining to learn.
