ABC News' Teddy Davis and Sunlen Miller Report: Despite losing Tuesday's New Hampshire primary, Sen. Barack Obama secured the endorsement of the Culinary Workers union.

The endorsement of the 60,000-member Culinary Workers union is seen as the biggest get in Nevada, a state which votes Jan. 19.

At 11 p.m. E.T. on Tuesday, a 12-member panel which controls the 60,000-member Culinary Workers union held a conference call to decide which '08 candidate to endorse.

The backing of the 60,000-member union is seen as important because the state's Democratic Party is only expecting 40,000 Democrats to participate in the caucuses.

Culinary's members work in casinos up and down the Las Vegas Strip.

Obama will travel to Las Vegas on Friday to formally accept the endorsement.

If Barack gets the white house, it will be the responsibility of all progressive to lean on him, (in a leftward direction) to counter the dark influence of the corporatists and servants of the wealthy...

Let's get that 60% majority in the Senate!

ABC has this wrong.

In fact, the Culinary Union is set to endorse Hillary today, not Obama. Obama picked up the Nevada SEIU endorsement.

Barack and roll-i think the NH loss was great for him--I just donated to barack cannnot stand hillary--anybody noted how her speech was so scripted last night....what now...Chelsea next pres??c'mon guys wake up if it's hillary let's vote a republican...

To the person who is supposedly democrat and saying they will vote republican because you "can't stand" hillary? Why can't you stand her? don't buy into right wing smears. what has she done to you? and do you really want a pro-life supreme court justice? because we're 1 judge away from having it. So if you want to threaten the right to choice for women out of spite of hillary, that is really messed up. This election is not anything to mess around with. seriously.

Clinton needs to remind union voters of how Obama attacked Edwards' union support in Iowa as "special interest" support. That was an amazing attack from a Democratic candidate

"Shauna Hamel, executive vice president of the Service Employees International Union Local 1107 — which represents 17,500 nurses and hospital technicians — "

kempis, he attacked them because of there third party advertisements, all the organizations that back Edwards and Hillary dropped over $5M in ads against Obama. Thats what he was talking about.

Remember Yucca Mountain. And how many working in the culinary industry in NV are women and/or hispanic. I'd say Clinton is going to win this.

Edwards will be kingmaker - I believe he and Barack have an agreement - Like Connor & Ramirez in 'Highlander'. They'll keep competing until Edwards looks like he has no chance left... Then they'll team up.

Phil, you're entitled to your opinion. But if you really need 57 point plans to change a light bulb, vote for Clinton. If you have problems with womanizers, then maybe Clinton isn't your girl after all. If you prefer your policy deliver is media encapsulated sound bites, if thinking for yourself is too hard for you. If you have a problem with black folks, vote for Clinton, by all means. If you like the idea of Bush Clinton Clinton Bush Bush Clinton -- the status quo -- vote for Clinton.

But millions of the rest of us want change.

But those of us prefer to dream big, work hard, achieve much, and to build a global community find inspiration, direction and goal-oriented hope in Barack Obama.

You say we can't dream big. You say we can't change the world. We say:

YES WE CAN!!!

amen!

Anthing that will help Obama and hinder Queen Crybaby is fine with me... There's not a single serious candidate out there that's as polorizing as HRC... That means her nomination gives another four years to the Republicans, no matter if they put up a cheese sandwich as their nominee. D.

Yes, Obama received the endorsement of the 60,000-member Culinary Workers Union in Nevada, according to USA Today

Would be something if this is inaccurate, too, like the New Hampshire polling data!

I'm all for Obama! You people of America are such sheep! No offense but when are you going to stop letting the media dictate to you who should win and go do your homework and read up on the issues and the agenda's of the candidates? We need someone that is going to really make change in this country and bridge the divide between the races. The old is dead the new is here! Seriously, Hilary has no experience she was the first lady not the president! Bill made lots of change in the past but they are the past. We need fresh new faces in the Whitehouse if we truly want to see change in America or the same old stuff that you are used to dealing with. There is no idealism in the world everyone just takes it as it comes and really don't believe change can happen. I am on the Obama ban wagon not because he's likeable but because he has a brilliant agenda and strong backing and I believe the world is ready to give the underdog a clean break! Stop being sheep and read up on what's really wrong with America and make your desisions from there!

This Union is headed by a Republican, interesting. I thought Edwards had this one in the bag?

Posted by: Girly | Jan 9, 2008 2:20:09 PM

Yeah, but it's all about getting the Unions campaign volunteers not JUST the Culinary union membership's votes!

Question for Angel - why are most of the latino union members going to vote for Senator Clinton? I can think of several answers but I am curious as to your rationale.
