Republican Hunter Drops Out of '08 Race
January 19, 2008 7:03 PM
ABC News' Teddy David reports: Following a disappointing finish in the Nevada Republican caucuses, Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., has decided to end his White House bid, according to campaign manager Roy Tyler.
Hunter, who represents next-door California in Congress, came in seventh of seven Republicans in the Nevada caucuses, garnering only 2 percent support.
Tyler told ABC News that, once the California congressman started getting excluded from the GOP debates, voters thought that he was not even in the race.
Hunter will refocus his attention on his congressional duties.
He will make a formal announcement on Saturday evening at the pier in San Diego, Calif., the same location he used to enter the race.
Hunter's presidential campaign focused on fair trade, border security, and a strong military.

Hunter who...?

I think the writer made a mistake. He wrote "fair trade". Republicans (any I've ever talked to) don't believe in fair trade. It's "FREE TRADE", which doesn't really exist, either.

Dunkin who...?

He was never going to win the nomination. I always thought that he was just auditioning for Secretary of Defense. He'd be a logical choice, since he chaired the House Armed Services Committee. Huckabee already mentioned him as a possible Secretary of Defense.

Good riddens!

It is a shame Duncan Hunter's campaign never got traction. He is a fine American and true patriot. Hunter is one of the few to try and tackle the travesty that is illegal immigration and the havoc it is reeking on our infrastructure.
Thank you, Congressman Hunter for speaking for patriotic Americans. With you and Thompson out of the race, I'll pray for a win by Mitt Romney.

Next is Ron Paul.

Hey paulie.... don't look now, but Ron Paul just raised over 100K in an hour!! He will NOT drop out. Next to go is Thompson, Huckster and Giuliani (if he doesn't win FL). You people need to understand that even if Dr. Paul does not win the GOP nomination, he may still run as a 3rd party candidate and need less of a majority to win the general election. We THE PEOPLE will vote for Ron Paul, even if we have to write him in and will financially back him through the entire process. Besides, the r3VOLution is just beginning!

To: Paulie!
Ron Paul got 2nd in Nevada. Not to mention hes really kicking Rudy's butt. Ohh and don't forget the whopping he gave Thompson either.
Please do some research instead of watching Fox News.
