ABC News' Matt Stuart reports: Mitt Romney claimed Saturday that he would pass a savings tax cuts in the first year if he became president.

Speaking in Traverse City, Mich., to a crowd of about 250 people, Romney said, “I have a special program to get more capital in the market and to help middle-income families. It’s pretty straightforward. And by the way, I think I can get in done in the first year because I think Democrats will agree with this one.”

Romney has preposed elimnating taxes on savings for families making under $200,000 a year and eliminating the "death tax."

Addressing Michigan's "one-state recession," Romney said he would focus on the automobile industry in Michigan.

"I want to rebuild the auto industry," he said, "so that once again we're the envy of the entire world."

Romney continues to use much his time on the stump reminding voters of his father's work as governor of Michigan in the hopes of winning the Michigan primary on Tuesday.

"What a great governor George Romney was," he said. "Boy, do I miss him."

While Romney didn't mention his rival, Sen. John McCain, Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., said in his introduction that Romney , "was born and raised in Michigan, and he understands the importance of our Great Lakes. He's not from one of those dry, southwestern states." McCain is from Arizona.

In their opening comments, both Romney and his wife spoke at length about the beauty of the Great Lakes region.

"I loved running into the deer in the woods and just fell in love with all animals as a child up here in the beautiful, beautiful upper Michigan," Mrs. Romney said of spending summers in the area.

The Romney family has a house on Lake Huron on the Canadian side.

Mitt, If you truly want to help the public, tell them the truth about taxation. Tell them how the Supreme Court in no less than 24 rulings declared the 16th Amendment as having given Congress no additional taxing authority and denies any new subjects coming under the Taxing authority. Maybe the public should just read "Cracking the Code" and find out for themselves.

Wasn't Duncan Hunter campaigning in some of the same areas as Romney? Looking for a story here...

Hunter is probably the strongest proponent of jobs for America. He knows that bringing jobs back to America is good for families, our economy, and our national security. His record indicates that he will not just talk about doing it, he will do it.

Hunter's record is consistent and he is highly rated by conservative groups around America. He is also endorsed by the Nevada Republican Assembly and the Missouri Republican Assembly.

Is it possible that the media is afraid to publicize a Republican candidate that has a record like Hunter's? It would be hard to challenge him if he received the Republican nomination.

Does anybody here have a problem with the fact that Cofer Black, the head of "Blackwater USA" is an advisor to Mitt Romney, and that Blackwater has been brought into the Department of Homeland Security HERE in the USA? Could Iraq be just a field test for something far more sinister right here in the US? Too bad that if all the troops came home we wouldn't need an income tax. Since all that pays is interest on the national debt (made worse by free-trade) and military spending to topple soverign governments. But hey, it's still YOUR country right? WAKE UP America!!!
