ABC News' Christine Byun Reports: In an aggressive ad buy, GOP presidential hopeful Fred Thompson's will air a 60 second commercial tomorrow night in South Carolina on nearly every major broadcast channel from 6:25 pm to 6:30 pm.

In the ad, which is titled "Consistent Conservative," Thompson talks about having "common sense" principles. He says "basic rights come from God, not government," a classic line from his stump speech. Thompson also makes a play at his humble beginnings in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.

"In a country where, if you play by the rules, you've got a fair chance to live the American dream," Thompson says in the advertisement.

Thompson also touts his national endorsement from an anti-abortion group.

The ad buy has been partially funded by recent online fundraising, which has been bolstered by Thompson's most recent debate performance.

A dollar short and a day late. Good for Thompson for getting back into the race. However since he's received more press, Ive yet to hear what he is for! All i know is how much he dislikes everyone else - he's Romney part II. What did Thompson do in the senate beside vote? I havent heard him talk about anything he proposed yet.

Alan- where have you been, Fred has stood and talked about the same things since he got in. He has stayed right on track and never veered from it! There is to much to talk about. Do not be steered by the media, check things out for yourself, you will be glad you did!

I'm glade that Fred Thompson is running the adds. We need good competition between all of the Republican candidate. I have faith in the conservatives will choose the right person.

I am one of those recent contributors to Fred and am proud and excited about it. I gave because Fred got me excited. He's been under-estimated because he's not power-hungry or a career politian; he's doing this because he believes in the Reagan philosophy and is a true conservative. So let's get SC out to vote and then sweep Super Tuesday.

The tide is turning, and the word is spreading, that South Carolina Republicans have within their power, the ability to bring Fred Thompson a victory, and to the American People, a Leader for our Nation.

Across the state and elsewhere, many are "Flipping For Fred", joining a campaign that can bond the Republican Party, and win us a candidate that that not only has what it takes to win the White House, but bring America back to a stronger standard.

The key is to do your OWN research, not expect the media to be your primary source of information. I've never been politcally active in the past, until 2004 because of a local referendum. I knew what I felt in my heart, but I still took a lot of time to reseach ALL the facts before speaking out publically and when I did it was amazing how many people I found that said "that's what I was thinking" or "gee, I hadn't thought of it that way". From there I got involved and we beat the referendum. Now here we are in 2008 and I found myself in the same position: I knew in my heart what kind of candidate we needed and spent a lot of time doing the research. Once I had all the facts, it was no contest. Not only did I attend a caucus for the first time, I went as a representative...for Fred Thompson.

In 2004, I was told I had no hope, we'd never beat the referendum...they were wrong. In 2008, I've been told there's no hope, it's too late for Fred...wrong again.

Thompson's awake? At 6:30 PM? Oh yeah, it's a a "TAPED" commercial. Seriously, I think he he is a consistent conservative, but he looks at the presidency as a part time job. His lack of commitment to campaigning is an absolute giveaway. He is not an achiever, and has slid by on his charisma...not what I am looking for in a president. I want somebody who at least feels vested. Fred is what we call in the south a "cotton trader". He pretends at a respectable profession, but when it comes right down to it, he is just lazy and going through the motions.

There we go again with the old Fred is Lazy, hes not an achiever....huh? Law school grad, sucessful career, 2 terms in Tennessee senate, tv and movie actor...I guess I wasnt lazy enough to achieve all that.

Fred is by no means lazy! He was just no going to run 2 YEARS ahead of time. For all of the effort and money Romney poured into Iowa & NH he did not win there.

Thompson is the only true conservative. Huckabee is not a conservative..he is a populist liberal.

For those of you too young to recall, Jimmy Carter was an evangelical populist liberal. He stood by and did NOTHING when our hostages were captured and America was humilited by Iran!! He was instrumental in toppling the shah of Iran in favor of the Islamic terrorists. Thats right, Jimmy Carter was in favor of the mullas!

Huckabee is another Jimmy Carter. Beware!!

Presidents are made on the campaign trail. It is a grueling process, because it is necessary. And its good for whoever becomes president. Fred doesn't seem interested in embracing this, and that bothers me. None of the candidates, at this point, are ready to be president. They need to be tempered. By the way, you can't dismiss the lazy charge by saying he didn't want to start early. He also does a fraction of the campaigning that anyone else does, and it shows me it doesn't matter that much to him. If he can't be bothered to run hard, then I have deep misgivings about his ability to take on the constant stream of activity required of a president. We can't afford a "kitchen cabinet" administration in this day and age.

I can tell who gets their information from the media and who has searched further. Those who state that Fred is lazy and doesn't campaign as hard as the rest are our media fed friends. I have followed Fred's run from the beginning and beleive me there is plenty of substance there. The difference with Fred is that he is not "performing" for the media or running a popularity contest. He is sincerely interested in the problems facing this country and it's citizens and applies himself seriously working for the solytions that will best serve this country. As I have heard said"TV doesn't reward depth." and Fred has depth. He is applying for the toughest job in the country.

So,
what I am supposed to do? Take it on your word that he will be energetic once he wins? I should hand him my vote simply on what Fred believes? I believe a lot of what Fred believes, maybe you should make me president, maggie. Really, if he is not willing to work for votes, why should I believe in him? The truth is maggie, i can make a case for almost any other candidate to be a good nominee. If Fred doesn't understand that this part of the game, then he is inflexible, and that is poor judgement, and it makes me doubt his ability to be a good president. Being a good conservative is not enough.

Problem 'axis' is that over the last 20 years the media has made it a dog and pony show, sound bites and rediculous hands up type debates. You've grown up expecting the candidates to do this 'routine'. If you believe in your principles and believe in some of what Fred believes... If you followed up on him and done your own research... He was the first candidate of the GOP to put his positions out to the public 'in detail', but he was the last to enter the race. He today is saying the same thing he was in October and before. Every other candidate has changed, some smoother than others, their postions. And they are all much closer to Freds now. Since Freds first one when others were bickering or joking, Fred stated his positions and more than anyone else the others said "I agree with Fred", or "Freds right". So if you have strong beliefs. Vote for Fred if they're the same. If he ends up losing then so be it. But you made known your beliefs to the world. If you vote for who you think will win in Nov(and it still could be Fred) if they don't quite match your beliefs, we'll continue down this path of the media and liberals dictating what principled conservatisim is because people will 'think' this is what conservatives want. Don't let that happen. One last thing. This process started a full year earlier than ever before. Fred entered the race at the normal time. All these candidates have drained the coffers of the american public for an extra year(esp. the dems) of donations at a time when it hurts alot of us. And what do they have to show for it. The closest race ever on both sides. Soon it will only be principles and values that win out in this marathon of a process. Good Luck with your candidate and hope you find your tu beliefs.
