An Interesting Clinton Coincidence

February 04, 2008 10:21 AM

ABC News' Kate Snow, Eloise Harper and Ann Compton Report: On the morning before the New Hampshire primary, we Reporters Who Cover Hillary found ourselves at the Cafe Espresso in Portsmouth, N.H.  Senator Clinton was sitting at a large rectangular table, surrounded by 16 undecided voters.  All were female except one.

You'll remember that morning as the morning Clinton got emotional and teared up while answering a question about "how she does it".

On the morning before Super Tuesday, we Reporters Who Cover Hillary found ourselves at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, Connecticut.  We were in a nicely appointed conference room.  And in the center was a rectangular table.  Seated around the table were 12 voters.  All were women. Clinton organizers say the goal was to have them all be "undecided" voters (though a local organizer says some may have been supporting Clinton coming in).

Clinton sported a cheerful bright yellow jacket with a cup of coffee in her hand. At the top of the event an old friend, Penn Rhodeen reminisced about the New York senator's Yale days and got a little emotional himself.

Clinton then joked, "Well, I said I wouldn't tear up -- already we're not exactly on that path."  It was a light-hearted whimsical moment.

Clinton went on to take questions for an hour and a half on topics like health care, education, child care, home heating oil and the cost of college. It was all very female friendly.

After days of little sleep, Clinton is nursing a cold and struggling to keep from losing her voice. She has been drinking hot water mixed with apple cider, lemon and honey as a remedy. At one point during the roundtable discussion she had a coughing attack and let the participants continue without her.

A tear was never shed.

This lady is so transparent, again if she actually had to be held accountable for her actions, unlike some other canidates out there; She NEVER would have gotten this far. Big buisness has their "girl" and our vote will not be allowed to get in the way. (Just ask New Hampshire) If the Republicans are willing to roll over, and Obama isn't willing to fight for the people who voted for him (see New Hampshire) then... Hello, the election is over. Hilliary and her Diebold machines can count the vote any way they see fit. And Obama will have to settle for being the token guy on the ticket, with NO influence. I'm sorry for those Americans who felt that they had a choice.

Here are some Barbara Jordan quotes:

"Don't call for black power or green power. Call for brain power."

"It is reason, and not passion, which must guide our deliberations, guide our debate, and guide our decision."

"We, the people". It is a very eloquent beginning. But when that document was completed, on the seventeenth of September in 1787, I was not included in that "We, the people". I felt somehow for many years that George Washington and Alexander Hamilton just left me out by mistake. But through the process of amendment, interpretation, and court decision I have finally been included in "We, the people."

"My faith in the Constitution is whole; it is complete; it is total. And I am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction, of the Constitution."

And lastly a fact on Barbara:

In 1974, she made an influential televised laaa speech before the House Judiciary Committee supporting the impeachment of President Richard Nixon. Jordan was mentioned as a possible running mate to Jimmy Carter in 1976.[1] Her speech at the 1976 Democratic National Convention is considered by many historians to have been the best convention keynote speech in modern history and was ranked 5th in "Top 100 American Speeches of the 20th century" list. She was the first African-American woman to deliver the keynote address.[1]

Those are just a few - Wikipedia her. She was almost an 'angel'. Her voice resounded, deep and strong. She fought disability, discrimination, ill health, conservative scorn, and handicap, all with dignity, power, and absolute resolve.

For me, she was a god of sorts. God Bless You, Ms. Jordan :( I miss you.

I am voting for Sen. Obama right now, what a thrill!!! An OJ administration?? God, listen to yourself, this is the kind of Clinton supporter, it says it all.

Posted by: carmen | Feb 4, 2008 11:12:10 AM

Carmen, can you get beyond the OJ remark and answer any of the question on the stories above?

No Obama supporter even READS the articles let alone believes them.

I know Clinton has had a mess of problems, but like you, I believe they are mostly exaggerations or deliberate distortions by her enemies, so if I am a fool, then where does that leave people such as yourself, who use the same defense for their candidate.

At least I admit her failing and still publicly say, so what.

I am waiting for ONE SINGLE OBAMA SUPPORTER to admit his twists and misleading statements, and still say they support him.

None of you will admit to anything untoward that he HAS done.

The American Evita strikes again.

Posted by: AntiRestorationDemocrat | Feb 4, 2008 11:28:50 AM

I'd like to see Clinton and Obama both agree to share the ticket, no matter which one of them becomes the nominee.

This would give Democratic voters the two candidates that they have chosen on their ticket, and hopefully would help to keep their campaigns against one another at a more reasoned level.

It would also reduce the amount of ammunition either will supply to the eventual Republican opponent.

Thanks for the real time view of
Clinton'smorning. CNN is broadcasting the "breaking news" of Hillary's tearing up again this morning. I am so sick of CNN bias toward Clinton. They have no shame!

Posted by: SickofCNN | Feb 4, 2008 1:30:29 PM

Sen. Barack Obama has erased Sen. Hillary Clinton's lead among Democrats nationally, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll out Monday. The two are in a virtual tie, with Obama at 49 percent and Clinton at 46 percent.

The survey represents a dramatic turnaround in the race from a few months ago when Clinton had a significant edge over Obama.

With 1681 delegates up for grab, what Candidate do you believe will accumulate the most delegates on Super Tuesday?.

Posted by: PollM | Feb 4, 2008 1:31:59 PM

i'm finding the polls interesting for a different reason than most. i see WHO is doing the polls and whether they have been producing polls over the past year or just jumped in lately. for instance, zogby, thought by many (most?) to be totally up for sale, suddenly comes in at the last minute and starts doing polls showing obama up, hillary's leads shrinking, etc. and now cnn is doing it - like we don't all know they're so anti-hillary they can barely breathe when she has a victory and can barely stop cackling when obama has a victory. they're trying very hard to create a self-fulfilling prophecy and hoping hillary supporters will get discouraged and stay home. but we won't - we will be out in force. we are the new silent majority coming out to do what's best and right and not what's politically correct. and we are legion!

Posted by: so saddened | Feb 4, 2008 2:50:01 PM

This is bad reporting at its best! A news reporter is suppose to be unbiased! I for one am sick of it!!

Posted by: ca4hillary | Feb 4, 2008 3:02:48 PM

the only way to tell the crooked media - loud and clear - that they do not decide our elections is to vote for the candidate they oppose and against the candidate they are pushing for. we should all do this in every election until they get the point. otherwise, what kind of "democracy" is it if the mainstream, republican-owned media's slanted "reporting" enables them to get the result they want (in this election they want obama so the repubs can crush him in the general election, who knows who they'll want the next time, but one thing we do know is whoever they want is in their best interest and not in ours).

Posted by: so saddened | Feb 4, 2008 3:10:14 PM

No matter what she is a female. Leave her alone. She is human. Many woman have been great leaders. Alot of male chavinist pigs.

Posted by: j0hn edwa | Feb 4, 2008 3:25:54 PM

I quit watching CNN as much as I possibly can. I'm so tired of their pro Obama crap. News stations should report news, not propaganda. The first time they said she cried, she did not! People get choked up, it's called...being HUMAN. Learn that CNN! Are you(CNN) still going to praise Obama when it's proven he can't handle BIG decision making?

Posted by: Denise | Feb 4, 2008 3:48:39 PM

Let's see. How can Hillary's handlers set up the same dynamic that worked in New Hampshire? The room, the tables, the women, the coffee cup.

C'mon, Hillary.... cameras are rolling, polls are dropping, California is slipping away. Cue the tears, damn it!

The definition of a con artist is someone that can perfectly imitate the actions of a sincere and honest person.

Posted by: Gorgon '08 | Feb 4, 2008 4:31:41 PM

Who cares about the polls and the reporting of them? Who really cares if Hillary cries or not? Who cares if Obama is perceived to be favored by CNN or that Hillary is in bed with ABC News.

If you like Hillary or Barack, get your ### in gear and vote when it's your chance to do so.

There are just way too many cry babies on both sides

Posted by: k.d | Feb 4, 2008 4:37:03 PM

The very idea that someone even asks her "how she does it"...is a slap to ANY woman. How many men do you ask that stupid question to??? Wake up bimbo...women can do it just like any man. Let's face it...she makes enough money for someone to do the laundry, shop for groceries, take her clothes to cleaners, pump gas. EVERY woman in the world could "do it" if they had someone taking care of them. Idiotic question!!!

Posted by: Pam | Feb 4, 2008 4:37:04 PM

Wow, you people really have it in for Hillary. One more reason that I'm going to vote for her - if she makes horrible people like you go crazy, then she must be doing something right! LOL

Posted by: Jane R, | Feb 4, 2008 4:37:14 PM

Give. Me. A. Break.

Both times she cries on the eve of an election. Both times she cries on a day that sees her being eclipsed in the polls.

Hillary is the most calculated and phony politician that I have witnessed in my lifetime.

Posted by: ElodieStClair | Feb 4, 2008 4:37:58 PM

I had it! Hillary gets my vote; the Lady has a soul; a consious. What is wrong with that!? I rather have someone with emotion than no emotion. Lastly, Obama is inspiring, but so was my pastor, but I would'nt vote for him because he can only talk. Obama is young, immature, and HAD NOT BEEN VETTTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The GOP salivates for Obama.

Posted by: LCI | Feb 4, 2008 4:39:19 PM

Hillary's inner dialogue: "Show emotion! Shed some tears. They do not need any confirmation that I am a cold reptile. They must not be able to confirm that. Ouch, tears hurt! These peasants better be grateful or I will have them all shot!"

Posted by: Bill Hicks | Feb 4, 2008 4:39:35 PM

Is this a kind of game or what? We can't be fooled twice. Obama is our guy.

Posted by: NWOKORIE GAANIHU | Feb 4, 2008 4:41:27 PM

there is quite a lot of bitterness anytime I read comments about hillary clinton. I am undecided but I can decide this one without (well, come to think of it, perhaps in spite of) the rancor. Why do the comments get so personal sometimes? I am not voting for a best galpal or sweetest homecoming queen. I am voting for someone with an incredibly sharp intellect who shares my priorities about getting certain things done in this country (and that is exactly why, I suppose, I'm undecided about a Dem to vote for tomorrow). i just know we have so much repair work to do after all the horrible bush years. i don't care to hear all the bile people spew (beyond all logic it seems to me) about Clinton. seeing it absolutely blows my mind. that's all i wanted to say.

Here we go again ... the Eleventh Hour Negative Story. It just never stops.

Posted by: Bifidis | Feb 4, 2008 4:44:21 PM

Here we go again. Just a day before the election tearing up. When going gets tough the tough get going. Vote for Obama or suffer another Clinton administration.

Posted by: silkwool | Feb 4, 2008 4:44:53 PM

I saw that meeting today, and Mrs. Clinton wasn't crying. She'd just finished coughing which probably explains the watery eyes. This article is unfair and does perpetuate the media Bias that spun out of control.

Posted by: TJ in Tallahassee, FL | Feb 4, 2008 4:45:14 PM

Who cares????

I'm interested on where they stand on the issues. And anybody who choses to vote or not for her based upon her tears and who hadn't checked out where she or Obama stands on the issues really shouldn't vote. Because they're screwing up those who are trying to vote intelligently based upon where the candidates stand on the issues.

Posted by: Roy | Feb 4, 2008 4:45:32 PM

I have NEVER in my life, seen the media so intent on killing a candidacy. Well, it looks like they will get their wish. I hope the democrats who fell for this charade are happy with Obama as the nominee. A guy with no experience, 2 years in the senate, and no military credentials. Sounds like a dream candidate for the GOP. Duped again.

Posted by: A reader in Georgia | Feb 4, 2008 4:46:29 PM

Now, she is making women look weak! it is one thing to claim you should be president because you were married to one, it is quite another to cry every time things don't go your way. Shameless!!

Posted by: Richard | Feb 4, 2008 4:49:32 PM

She is Karl Rove now. If it worked in NH, might as well keep doing it right? What a Bush-Lite.

Posted by: Cat | Feb 4, 2008 4:51:32 PM

Remember, it's all about November.

A vote for Hillary = a vote for McCain. If Hillary is the nominee, McCain is president. Why? She simply cannot get the Independent or Swing voters. Too much baggage, fair or not.

Obama, on the other hand, has wide, crossover appeal and can get those coveted Independent and swing voters -- which are necessary and key to a White House victory.

Vote Obama in your primary or caucus if you want something other than the same ol' Republicanism for another four years.

Think. Think November strategy. Vote Obama.

Posted by: Rational Voter | Feb 4, 2008 4:52:06 PM

A Reader from Georgia: why blame the media?? She is the one crying on the eve of Feb 5th just like she did on the eve of NH!! you can blame on hormones (or hormone replacement therapy, in this case), but not the media.

Posted by: Richard | Feb 4, 2008 4:52:31 PM

As a female, if I get really nervous about loosing something of great importance I can tear up. Hillary is running scarred as Obama is catching up very quickly and she see that she could actually loose (not for sure but her big lead is all but gone). Whether she is trying to tear up on purpose or not has no bearing on my vote. I am voting Obama because I truly believe he is our best hope for real subtantive change.

Posted by: JLW | Feb 4, 2008 4:52:45 PM

Just a quick comment for all you Clinton fans: Obama is the same age Bill was when he took office. Technically, when running, Bill was a year younger. So much for this "kid" that is driving the Clintons crazy. I cannot wait for the caucus in my state.

Posted by: Sloane | Feb 4, 2008 4:53:08 PM

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! AND THIS IS PRESIDENTIAL??? READY ON DAY ONE??? HER AND HER HUSBAND ARE NOTHING BUT EMBARRASSMENTS TO THE NATION. I CAN'T TRUST HER IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF THIS COUNTRY, OUR TIME AND LIVES ARE TOO VALUABLE. WHAT A SHAME FOR US WOMEN FOLK. disgusting phony, or just too darn emotional. Hillary either we can't trust you for being a phony, or we can't trust you for being too emotional. Take a pick and go back to your senate seat.

I went to Hillary Clintons web site to submit a question for her town hall meeting on the Hallmark channel tonight. You have to be a member and support her to ask a question.

WHAT A JOKE THIS WOMAN IS.

Posted by: Cat | Feb 4, 2008 4:56:50 PM

Maybe if everyone read the article before commenting, they would see that it doesn't report that Sen. Clinton was crying. Im with everyone who supports her. I am excited to see the results tomorrow! She is ready to lead!

Posted by: Hill4Pres | Feb 4, 2008 4:58:29 PM

Hillary evidently believes she can cry her way to the nomination and then once nominated, she can cry her way to the White House.

She will probably cry REAL tears when she loses.

Posted by: marco123 | Feb 4, 2008 5:00:02 PM

PENN MEMO TO HILLARY: You were supposed to cry yesterday, so as to get the Media Cycle for today's paper! Try, try, again tomorrow... EARLY... so as to get on the news channels. (p.s. Let the tear run down your right cheek next time.) - Mark

Posted by: Chris Fischahs | Feb 4, 2008 5:01:29 PM

At the moment, I am still undecided about who to vote for, but Hillary should be careful about playing the "emotion card" too often. It could demonstrate weakness, and the President will be dealing with difficult matters EVERY DAY. Since the Republicans appear poised to nominate Old Man McCain, I'm pretty sure either Clinton or Obama can beat him, so tomorrow's primaries may determine our next President. Hillary needs to display strength, not weakness.

Posted by: rmberryman | Feb 4, 2008 5:02:33 PM

You people must not have read the full article - it does not say that Hillary teared up - it says her friend Penn Rhodeen did and that she joked about it. So many people are distorting and outright lying - on both sides - that many people will wind up making their voting decision based on incorrect information. That's really sad - but quite normal.

Posted by: Momvar | Feb 4, 2008 5:04:05 PM

This lady wants complete control of your paycheck. Don't let her get that control! Has the American public such a short memory as to forget how Clinton "shut down the government" (another way of saying "became dictator") when the budget didn't balance? She stands to profit from a mining venture if elected. She's only after prestige and money. A female egomaniac.

Posted by: Sorry ToSay | Feb 4, 2008 5:05:56 PM

There has been over 124,546 SPUN stories for Obama over the last week, and 4,354 NEGATIVE stories about Hillary Clinton.

Do you media guys REALLY THINK we are EVER GOING TO FORGIVE YOU FOR FIXING THE ELECTION BY BRAINWASHING PEOPLE FOR THE CANDIDATE YOU WANT?

Posted by: tom | Feb 4, 2008 5:06:34 PM

Lets layoff Hillary. Im voting for Obama but I do respect Hillary Clinton and think she is a smart person who knows the issues in Washington. Yes, she nows her stuff.

Im leaning towards voting for her if she beats Obama but the emotions thing is kind of scaring me right now.

I mean, how can you look the Parents of slain soldier in the eyes and not cry but cry when the going gets tough.

Cmon Hillary, get tough now.

Posted by: Chad Butler | Feb 4, 2008 5:09:09 PM

Like Maria Theresa (ex of Hungarian Empire), she kept weeping and taking the look. Only women will fall for this "poor me" joke.

Right on Cue, Hillary

Posted by: Patriot2008 | Feb 4, 2008 5:12:36 PM

Of course it was one of her friends and not her. Hillary is smart enough to know that people would see through her scheme if SHE tried to use her 'softer side' to sway voters. Well, most people anyway. Seems,as I read these posts, that alot of women fell for it again. She uses her spouse, she uses her friends, and she'll use you! Who is going to pay for her:
free health care;
free maternity leave for 6 months;
mandate that affimative action means 1/2 the CEOs in the country are women;
She WON't be elected in November regardless of who the Republicans run. They will (justifyably) drag up so much dirt on her and Bill. And we'll have blown it again! She may be great, but ask yourself, is she electable?????

Posted by: nowsheusesherfriends | Feb 4, 2008 5:13:32 PM

Posted by: 2009 Where Are You?,

What twist and misleading statements has he made about her? We know she has made a MILLION regarding him. Until the amount of statements he makes reaches the amount she has made, then there will be no explanation.

Besides, he may have said one thing - maybe one - that is it. But, they
have made MANY purposefully misleading and downright lies about him. And do not forget the trouble they have stirred up, just WITHIN the party alone. You all might find it acceptable for her camp to do and say whatever it takes to get her elected by many of us do not. You all might find it acceptable that they hi-jacked the party and tried to ram her down her throats but many of us do not.......

The bottom line is this: This party doesn't belong to them, it belongs to the people!

And here we have this crying jag again? How pathetic. My own personal take on this is, I think she has under-estimated the intelligence of women with this bull. I hope she doens't think women are stupid enough to fall for something like this. I hope that is not how she plans to get elected. I hope she doesn't think so little of women…..I know the comments she's made regarding some women but I hope she doesn't think all women are that dumb. Hillary thinks she is smarter than the rest of us, well we will see....

Posted by: Pamela | Feb 4, 2008 5:13:47 PM

I hope voters will now be enlightedned not to vote the tears again. I do not want a New Hampshire repeat.

Like ealier said in this thread, why always cry when things do not go your way ? If Hillary purges herself of this stupid sense that she is entitled to the office, there will be no crying. she will just compete like a sportsman. Enough of high hypocrisy. No stopping Obama 08

Posted by: I love America | Feb 4, 2008 5:14:54 PM

Somebody who said Obama supporters were rude had better get Hilliary to speak with Tom... I think he's got too much time on his hands!

Posted by: cba | Feb 4, 2008 5:16:59 PM

It is obvvious to most that to the media Hillary can do no right.

Obama is just as arrogant and self righteous as "W" and yet people put their Hopes and Dreams on someone who has not acomplished anything. So what if she tears up. She is human.
If Obama gets elected and the media turns on him so that they can keep the White House.
If Obama claims he will unify all parties, how about starting by telling his supporter to support whomever is nominated????? Instead he says in a news conference "he will take Hillary's voters but Hillary cannot take his"????
What kind of a Democratic leader is that?? Who is dividing the Democrats?

People should not vote based on Polls. Do your research and elect the candidate whom you like and not who the media wants you to like!

Posted by: Ready4Hillary | Feb 4, 2008 5:18:36 PM

Hillary tears up again? She can't handle the pressure. Wake up people.

Posted by: Ed | Feb 4, 2008 5:20:02 PM

tom, a reader in georgia, and others, thank you for speaking the truth. i personally will never, ever, ever, trust the mainstream media again. not just for politics, but for anything! for example, as a huge sports fan, i have come to look with a jaundiced eye at some of the shilling espn does. but i hadn't really paid attention to the news media bias before, because i generally ignored them. i now watch because i know they have influence, rather than because i believe anything they say. it seems it's everywhere. the msm are currently doing a very successful hatchet job on hillary. like the crying b.s., they know if they say it sheep will believe it. i do hope voters don't let them succeed, but know that advertising, like the free advertising they're giving to obama, works very well, even when the product is worthless. we can only hope this product goes the way of the singing fish on the wall and other worthless stuff people tried to sell us.

Posted by: so saddened | Feb 4, 2008 5:20:38 PM

Sorry about the ;maternity leave' and 'CEO' references in my above post. I was just being sarcastic because I get so frustrated by womwn who fall all over themselves to vote for the Clintons because SHE is a woman; or defend her showing emotion to gain votes. If she were a man, they'd be laughing their heads off at him!! Don't tell me she isn't playing the gender card--she's just getting one of her female friends to do it for her. I, asx a woman find that insulting.

Posted by: nowsheusesherfriends | Feb 4, 2008 5:20:56 PM

Hillary is to shrewd on operator to lose control of the tears like that unless she wanted to. I respect her more if the tears are a staged event. How will she handle negotiations with Putin, Chavez or Amenajad if she can't control her emotions. But, you have to give the lady credit. Christine's comments are pretty close to the mark. The differences between Hillary and Obama are slight but, to me, significant.
Iraq: (They both agree to a measured approach to extricate ourselves)
Obama opposed from the begining, Hillary declares she did her "due dilligence" and "voted her conscience" (Wouldn't due dilligence involve reviewing the NIE? Is conscience code for polls?).
Medical Insurance:
Obama advocates incentives to assure that every American who wants insurance can afford it,
Hillary mandated insurance for all Americans (increasing medical costs = increased premiums = increased profits for insurance companies) until the Government decides we can't afford it.

Posted by: BooMan | Feb 4, 2008 5:20:59 PM

My goodness! Read the article! She didn't cry. And you know what- who cares if she did? Obama has been handled like a King waiting for his coranation, while Clinton is ridiculed left and right. Even when Obama got a little taste of controversy- his big brother TED Kennedy had to come to his defense. What a joke! And this is the person who is supposed to be the President.

Posted by: Peter | Feb 4, 2008 5:21:10 PM

Apparently, in the meeting discussed in this story, if Hillary showed any tears, it's because she has a cold. There seems to be a bit of distortion here. I've thought ABC was pretty much in favor of Obama, until they brought out his amnesty for illegal aliens a couple of nights ago on the evening news. I don't think ABC is necessarily biased, but we need ALL the facts, regardless of which candidate they're talking about. The media CAN eliminate a candidate; consider Ron Paul, who had widespread support but was "ignored to death" by the media... intentionally. The scary thing is that the media people may eventually realize they can control an election more by pretending a candidate doesn't exist than by bad-mouthing someone they dislike.

Posted by: rmberryman | Feb 4, 2008 5:21:43 PM

If Hilliary's is as unintelligent and has as much lack of comprehension and control over herself as those who claim to support her, then I think Obama hasn't much to worry about here.

Posted by: cba | Feb 4, 2008 5:22:41 PM

The Clintons are the only ones out of the pack of candidates that get emotional. This is nothing but yellow journalism. Why don't they take closeups of other candidates, their spouses and surrogates, when they get misty eyed or emotional during a rally or event.

Posted by: evie | Feb 4, 2008 5:25:50 PM

Read the freaking article! This is the problem with Obama supporters. The line "democrats fall in love and republicans fall in line" best describes the mania surrounding Obama. My fear is that people will wake up to late or they drank the Kool-aid and all reason died.

2009, where are you! I am an Obama supporter and yes, I can admit there were some shading dealings with Rezko on his part. Yet, your Co-Chairman, Antonio Villagorosa (Mayor of Los Angeles) also had some shading dealings with Rezko. Hillary was also along with Bill photographed with Rezko as he contributed to his campaign. Hillary is not beyond corporte greed. The Rose Law firm (winston hubbell) Wal-Mart, I could go on. So who to vote for. When you have a choice between an idiot and a crook. You choose the cook. Why? Because with a crook, you're always watching them, so they can't put anything over on you. With an idiot, they can mess things up for generations. That's what we currently have with GW in office. And because Hillary voted in 2002 and 2003, to give GW, card blanche in going to war with Iraq, even though there was never evidence of WMDs, costing now up to over 4,000 deaths of US men and women in the military, and not even able to admit she made a mistake when asked about her vote on Iraq, makes her an absolute idiot in my book.

So Saddened Clinton Supporter: We are legion? How true. A moment of unexpected candor.

My fear is that people will vote for Obama because he's inspiring just like people lined up to vote for Bush because they felt he was like them. Obama has very little experience- 1 1/2 years as a Senator if you take away the other year and a half that he's been campaigning. He basically ran unopposed for the US Senate seat. Lord have mercy. Let's think clearly here. We have serious problems and this isn't the time to vote for someone who can get people fired up but has not record of delivering on the promises he makes. Please think about the big picture and not how his speeches make you feel.

I have never seen such hatred as what I have seen here in these comments...Why dont you just go out and vote for Obama instead of coming in here and spitting out your hateful comments against Hillary..Why do you feel like you need to do this?? I'll answer for you..It makes you feel good, just as Obama makes you feel good..I watched the tape..I did NOT see the tears..Of course she would be emotional after an introduction like that..The lady has a cold with a cough..She is worn out..Obama has a free pass from the media and all those wealthy people like the Kennedys and Oprah..Hillary has to work hard while Obama gets a pass..His picture is EVERYWHERE..When they show her pic, its the most unattractive pic they could find..It has to be very upsetting for her to see all that free press that Obama's getting and all those hateful remarks on these blogs..I, as a nurse, am NOT suppose to show any emotion, but I can tell you that there has been many a time when I've had to leave the room quickly to hide my tears..I must admit that watching these hateful remarks against hillary, I cried for Hillary..So, vote for Obama but keep your hateful remarks out of here,..Oh, I forgot, making those nasty remarks make you feel good, just like Obama makes you feel good..Well, remember this, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is..( Remember Rev. Jim Jones and remember what happened to his followers)..To all of you who continue to post hateful comments, shame, shame on you!!!

Everyone should please take a breath and re-read the article, not just the deliberately misleading headline. I am not a big Hillary fan, but making up things to criticize her for is just not fair. If there were tears in her eyes in the meeting described, it was only because she has a cold, according to the article, which also says she was in a good mood. Whoever wrote the headline hates Hillary, and was hoping we would assume the worst about her. Neither Democratic candidate will have much trouble defeating Old Man McCain with his support for continuation of Bush's War, but we (and ABC) should stick to the issues!

There is nothing inherently wrong or unnatural about being sentimental about past experiences. I'm sure that the Joint Chiefs themselves get choked up at times over memories shared with compatriots. Having said that, hosever, and even though this incident has nothing to directly do with it, I still believe that Clinton is so playing the gender card in this campaign.

ABC News says, "A tear was never shed." But the AP is reporting, "Clinton briefly grew emotional, wiping her eyes with her hand." Sure seems like you're trying to minimize another painfully manipulative HRC stunt. From one middle-age white woman to another: Knock it off, Hillary, you're disgracing us all!

Hillary puts on another transparent and completely contrived tear-fest. Surely the women out there she's targeting with this farce won't fall for it twice.

Obama profitted by Walmart while his wife served on the board of Treehouse foods. Walmart's largest customer. She made 51,000 a year for her service. So let's not be hypocritical.

Interesting?

NO! BEGUILING is and should be the word.

The thing is though, why on earth the shrewd reporters and the media give Hillary and Bill a free ride?

Why on earth do you play along with this disgraceful act, when you know they are doing it wittingly!

It's sad that there are some people out there still believing in the WMD in Iraq and support Bush even now. I see the same thing happening on the Democratic side. Hillary knows you will play this clip over and over for free and some people will believe in this act.
I want you to ask yourself why only on the eve of voting do we see her with tears???

I don't care if she cries. that is not the issue. Throughout this campaigned she has been calculating for a win and doing and saying whatever it takes to win. She wants power, plain and simple. She will destroy those that get in her way and will possibly be even more devisive than our sitting President. She beleives that she knows best and that we, the people, just need to go along. Her health plan will benefit the insurance industry and leave no incentives for improved service, with no choice as to whether or not you enroll, your wages will be garnished otherwise.

I'm not a Hillary fan but the media's distortion is utterly ridiculus. They now Hillary's has a stong base of wormen voters. What a better why to get them to rethink their position if the think she is weak. I'm more distressed about the media and their ability to be loose and fast with the "facts."

Clinton is a politician at heart. She will do whatever it takes to win. If she were in India she would probably give a kidney to win.

The headline and subhead on this article are misleading and biased. Shame on ABC.
Far too many people are influenced by just this sort of jab. They never knew what hit them and are suddenly blabbering about "weakness" and inability to lead. What crap!

Again? Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame you you. C'mon, how transparent! She knows, it's super tuesday coming up and she's tied, and she can't afford to unleash her husband, so it's back to what works. My respect for Obama has gone up by light years when I saw this transparent act. Enough is enough. My kids don't manipulate me this much.

The picture clearly shows Hillary tearing up so you cannot say it was her friend. It clearly shows Hillary tearing up. I am not trying to be bashing her or any such thing. I am a woman, and I can tear up over many things that affect me emotionally, nor do I find that to be a weakness per se. But if she is using it as a tool to get sympathy votes that would sicken me.I am not saying she is doing that but tearing up twice before a huge vote does not help her. Either way I was for Obama before and I am still for Obama.

Posted by: JLW | Feb 4, 2008 5:51:39 PM

I had to read the story three times to find out where it said Hillary "teared up". Nowhere!!! I'm so sick of the media bashing - Obama walks on water and she can't even catch a cold without getting bashed. Shame on you ABC - I'm done with you. With all the crap she puts up with from the media she'd have good reason to cry, but she didn't. Read the damn story before you start your nasty oomments.
