An Interesting Clinton Coincidence
February 04, 2008 10:21 AM
ABC News' Kate Snow, Eloise Harper and Ann Compton Report: On the morning before the New Hampshire primary, we Reporters Who Cover Hillary found ourselves at the Cafe Espresso in Portsmouth, N.H. Senator Clinton was sitting at a large rectangular table, surrounded by 16 undecided voters. All were female except one.
You'll remember that morning as the morning Clinton got emotional and teared up while answering a question about "how she does it".
On the morning before Super Tuesday, we Reporters Who Cover Hillary found ourselves at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, Connecticut. We were in a nicely appointed conference room. And in the center was a rectangular table. Seated around the table were 12 voters. All were women. Clinton organizers say the goal was to have them all be "undecided" voters (though a local organizer says some may have been supporting Clinton coming in).
Clinton sported a cheerful bright yellow jacket with a cup of coffee in her hand. At the top of the event an old friend, Penn Rhodeen reminisced about the New York senator's Yale days and got a little emotional himself.
Clinton then joked, "Well, I said I wouldn't tear up -- already we're not exactly on that path." It was a light-hearted whimsical moment.
Clinton went on to take questions for an hour and a half on topics like health care, education, child care, home heating oil and the cost of college. It was all very female friendly.
After days of little sleep, Clinton is nursing a cold and struggling to keep from losing her voice. She has been drinking hot water mixed with apple cider, lemon and honey as a remedy. At one point during the roundtable discussion she had a coughing attack and let the participants continue without her.
A tear was never shed.

Is this a kind of game or what? We can't be fooled twice. Obama is our guy.

there is quite a lot of bitterness anytime I read comments about hillary clinton. I am undecided but I can decide this one without (well, come to think of it, perhaps in spite of) the rancor. Why do the comments get so personal sometimes? I am not voting for a best galpal or sweetest homecoming queen. I am voting for someone with an incredibly sharp intellect who shares my priorities about getting certain things done in this country (and that is exactly why, I suppose, I'm undecided about a Dem to vote for tomorrow). i just know we have so much repair work to do after all the horrible bush years. i don't care to hear all the bile people spew (beyond all logic it seems to me) about Clinton. seeing it absolutely blows my mind. that's all i wanted to say.

Here we go again ... the Eleventh Hour Negative Story. It just never stops.

Here we go again. Just a day before the election tearing up. When going gets tough the tough get going. Vote for Obama or suffer another Clinton administration.

I saw that meeting today, and Mrs. Clinton wasn't crying. She'd just finished coughing which probably explains the watery eyes. This article is unfair and does perpetuate the media Bias that spun out of control.

Who cares????
I'm interested on where they stand on the issues. And anybody who choses to vote or not for her based upon her tears and who hadn't checked out where she or Obama stands on the issues really shouldn't vote. Because they're screwing up those who are trying to vote intelligently based upon where the candidates stand on the issues.

I have NEVER in my life, seen the media so intent on killing a candidacy. Well, it looks like they will get their wish. I hope the democrats who fell for this charade are happy with Obama as the nominee. A guy with no experience, 2 years in the senate, and no military credentials. Sounds like a dream candidate for the GOP. Duped again.

Now, she is making women look weak! it is one thing to claim you should be president because you were married to one, it is quite another to cry every time things don't go your way. Shameless!!

She is Karl Rove now. If it worked in NH, might as well keep doing it right? What a Bush-Lite.

Remember, it's all about November.
A vote for Hillary = a vote for McCain. If Hillary is the nominee, McCain is president. Why? She simply cannot get the Independent or Swing voters. Too much baggage, fair or not.
Obama, on the other hand, has wide, crossover appeal and can get those coveted Independent and swing voters -- which are necessary and key to a White House victory.
Vote Obama in your primary or caucus if you want something other than the same ol' Republicanism for another four years.
Think. Think November strategy. Vote Obama.

A Reader from Georgia: why blame the media?? She is the one crying on the eve of Feb 5th just like she did on the eve of NH!! you can blame on hormones (or hormone replacement therapy, in this case), but not the media.

As a female, if I get really nervous about loosing something of great importance I can tear up. Hillary is running scarred as Obama is catching up very quickly and she see that she could actually loose (not for sure but her big lead is all but gone). Whether she is trying to tear up on purpose or not has no bearing on my vote. I am voting Obama because I truly believe he is our best hope for real subtantive change.

Just a quick comment for all you Clinton fans: Obama is the same age Bill was when he took office. Technically, when running, Bill was a year younger. So much for this "kid" that is driving the Clintons crazy. I cannot wait for the caucus in my state.
Posted by: Sloane | Feb 4, 2008 4:53:08 PM
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! AND THIS IS PRESIDENTIAL??? READY ON DAY ONE??? HER AND HER HUSBAND ARE NOTHING BUT EMBARRASSMENTS TO THE NATION. I CAN'T TRUST HER IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF THIS COUNTRY, OUR TIME AND LIVES ARE TOO VALUABLE. WHAT A SHAME FOR US WOMEN FOLK. disgusting phony, or just too darn emotional. Hillary either we can't trust you for being a phony, or we can't trust you for being too emotional. Take a pick and go back to your senate seat.

I went to Hillary Clintons web site to submit a question for her town hall meeting on the Hallmark channel tonight. You have to be a member and support her to ask a question.
WHAT A JOKE THIS WOMAN IS.

Women's emotions keep us from going postal of the idiots around us.
AND this is a total non-issue when men cry.
Posted by: Christine | Feb 4, 2008 4:54:25 PM
Let me see now... every time Bush is in trouble, he kills off another al-Qaeda No. Two. Everytime Obama evaporates Hillary's lead, she cries on camera. Yeah, I get it.
Posted by: Not buying it | Feb 4, 2008 4:54:33 PM
This is so freakin retarded. Hillary, have you no shame?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Posted by: Charity | Feb 4, 2008 4:55:27 PM
christine--She's never showed emotion before....even during Monica-gate! I let it slide the first time.....but this is ridivulous. I can't anymore of her campaigning.....I'm voting Obama!

Maybe if everyone read the article before commenting, they would see that it doesn't report that Sen. Clinton was crying. Im with everyone who supports her. I am excited to see the results tomorrow! She is ready to lead!
