Chelsea Says TX Is Must Win

ABC News' Kate Snow reports: Speaking at Texas Tech in Lubbock tonight, Chelsea Clinton was asked if she agrees with her father's recent comments in Beaumont about Texas and Ohio being must win states.

"I think we do have to win in Texas," Chelsea said. "And I think we will win in Texas if we work hard."

The former first daughter was hoarse, and said she was fighting an illness.

"Forgive my voice. I've been working hard for my mom ... Unfortunately, I'm not as practiced at this as some are, so my vocal chords are a bit out of whack," she croaked at the outset.

But despite her failing voice, the younger Clinton fielded questions for more than an hour on everything from health care to education; Iraq to net neutrality and trade.

Watch part of her speech HERE.

Chelsea urged the crowd to judge her mother on her own merits.

"I don't think you should vote for or against my mother because of my father," she said when asked if Americans should be concerned about creating a dynasty of Clintons in the White House.

It's more than a must win, she has to have more than 65% of the vote in every last State to pass Obama. That will not happen as she has never been anywhere close in States she did win.

what about the rest of the states if she gets the mo from ohio or RI etc

Nice to have a pretty lady like Chelsea, looking out for her mom.

I really hope the voters decide on Hillary. I am not a supporter of the media's favorite candidate.

Chelsea is a genuinely nice person. The people that automatically hate all-things-Clinton, generally because they've been influenced that way by bottom feeders like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, need to sit on it for this particular thread.

None of us Clinton supporters will EVER vote for Obama. He has run a horrifying campaign of racism, media abuse and BRAINWASHING.

I give him credit for winning, but he is the WEAKEST candidate out of the three remaining. He will blubber his way thru his presidency, much like Bushie.

Chelsea is right. Texas is must win. And it can't be a 51-49 thing, if her campaign has any serious hopes of getting back into this thing.

The ironic thing would be to wake up in nine days, with Clinton having swept all four states, but not by enough in terms of delegates, and realizing then they can't win. Wonder how her supporters would take that?

Who really cares what Chelsea has to say. She did a great job for Mommy in Hawaii, didn't she?

At least I do know Chelsea is still proud to be an American even if people are not voting for her mother as much as Hillary would like. I can't say the same for Michelle Obama.

Young lady Chelsea, you are talking humbly. I wish you can advise your mom to do the same.

Why is it that the CLINTONS are so eager to be PRESIDENT???? They have been there before for 8 years. They should give chance to others to taste it,too. Hillary is just forcing her way to be,but she has already lost the nomination. America is not a monarchy system. The CLINTONS' time is over.We anat some kind of new policies in Washington now.

To TomDavie... if it helps you slee better at night, keep reciting GOP attack lines such as "the media is to blame." Yes, Hillary is losing states by 20 points because the voters are just so stupid, or she is losing states that don't count. She has run a weak campaign against an excellent campaigner. Why is anyone surprised she is getting her butt kicked all over the country? I'm glad I didn't waste any money donating to her joke of a campaign.

Why am I supposed to care what she thinks? We already knew Hillary was floundering.
And why criticize M Obamaa about the "proud" comment. I look at the stupid comments on these blogs and am ashamed to live on the same planet as most of you. Look at our history. We have lots of racism, injustice, and pointless wars that should make you less "patriotic." If you can even call it that. Ya'll weren't proud enough to keep the Neo-cons from screwing U.S. for 7 yrs. So shut up about it.

I am an Obama supporter and very proud to be. However, I respect what Chelsea is doing on behalf of her mother's campaign and I can't blame Hillary for trying to use all of her surrogates, to help her comeback. Frankly, I'm tired of all of the media's comments and projections and can't wait until March 4th is OVER.

I have been voteing since 1960 when I worked for JFK.I will tell you that no matter what the media polls say,if Obama goes up against McCain and the Republican machine in November they will eat him alive.Look what they did to John Kerry ad Al Gore. They will fight dirty, and Obama will loose in a landslide.Hillary has the savy and the experience to win in November.I sure want to see a Democract in the White House, don't you? THIS IS NOT THE YEAR FOR "I have a dream" Remember the world is watching this election, that includes our enemies.Look what happened in 2000.We elected Bush and got 911.Do you really think our enemies would have bombed New York City with Al Gore in the White House?? Never. And Gore would have never invaded Iraq.Thats 7,000 lies saved, and 20,000 lives that would have never been destoyed. Our enemies are watching, waiting for us to elect a weak President with no experience.Yes,Hillary is tough, she is also strong.I shutter to think how long it would be before America would be invadd with Obama sitting in the White House. So please think long and hard. This year,we need someone with lots of experience. That someone is Hillary Clinton.

All these people keep talking about Hillary's experience. What exactly has she done?

Posted by: Janet | Feb 26, 2008 4:16:35 AM

Thirty five years of experience and she's still talking about the same issues. RED FLAG! If she hasn't done it in 35 yrs, what makes you think she can do it as president! Just one question...has anyone ever seen Hillary in a dress?

Posted by: Kay | Feb 26, 2008 4:30:09 AM

Someone, anyone name one think Obama has done.Yes,he has been a Senator for 3 years. How many votes in Washington has he missed the last two years running around the country running for the White House.Hillary has been a Senator for 8 years. She has also lived in Wahington and knows how to cross party lines to get bills passed.Im not saying she is perfect,Im saying she knows how to be President on day one.No learning, needed,And all the experience with foriegn policy is needed now.She can also fight the Republican machine, and belive me thay are going to have one hell of a dirty monster to throw at us this year.Ask John Kerry, ask Al Gore. They are raising millions as we speak to run those swift boat ads, remember? No one knows better how to run dirty elections better than the Republicans. We will need a very strong leader to fight.Obama is weak. You cann't turn the other cheek with the Republicans.Hillary is tough, well tested, and ready.Believe me when I say John McCain really fears Hillary Clinton.Thats why the media has been so very nice to Obama. They want him to beat Hillary so we can have 4 more years of a Republican White House.I know how the media works,I have been watching their dirty tricks for 40 years. You would think the American people would have too.
