Clinton Compares Obama to a Blank Screen

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: In a Nightline interview with ABC's Cynthia McFadden, Sen. Hillary Clinton, when asked about the Barack Obama phenomenon, used a quote from Obama to describe her opponent. "I think the best description actually is in Barack's own book" Clinton said, "where he said that he is a blank screen and people of widely different views project what they want to hear." Clinton continued saying "he just hasn’t been around long enough." Clinton continued saying "But with the blank screen it gives you a chance to just really infuse it with whatever you hope for, whatever you want without knowing."

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

Clinton was asked her reaction to the many women around this country who say they feel sorry for her. "I think a lot of woman project their own feelings in their lives on to me." Clinton stressed that it is a hard what she is doing but she gets up every day and thinks about what she is going to do – not dwelling on past mistakes, or what will happen if she loses Texas or Ohio.

When asked if Clinton was surprised by the outcome of how the race has shaped up, Clinton said she wasn’t but "he might be, because I think that he believed that he could, once he won Iowa, wrap it up. Then I won New Hampshire" Clinton said. When pressed on how she ever hated being treated as the front runner – Clinton complained that nothing has changed. "I’m still being treated like that – in terms of people coming after me."

Clinton says that she doesn’t listen to the pundits or the commentary about the race. "Everywhere I go people say ‘Don’t give up, don’t give up, stay with this.’" Clinton said, "There is something going on here."

Does anyone other then me notice that Obama never says anything like this about her? Never. He responds when she attacks but never does he lower himself to this level. If anyone wonders why he keeps beating her, they need to consider that perhaps he is simply a better person.

Sam, I guess the whining comment, and the claws coming out comments aren't attacks on her. He really is simply a better person.

I fear for this country IF Barack Hussein Obama---a former Muslim---is elected as our leader.

Hillary has launched an attack campaign against her opponent because Hillary is trying to look good by putting her opponent down. I prefer to hear Hillary use that time to finish her tax return and open her taxes to the public. Why does Hillary not talk about Nafta issues to the good people in Ohio?

Over and Over, Hillary has not learned that the negative campaign does not work...it is just a waste of time and an insult to the voters. I can make up my mind, I do not need Hillary tell me why I should not vote for her opponent. I rather have Hillary tell me why I should vote for her.... Is the negative campaign being used to cover up empty minds??? Hillary does not understand that the negative strategy will not bring her back.

GLO: What exactly are these negative attacks? Can you be more specific?

People really need to examine why Hillary is blaming EVERYONE except herself for her rapid decline in the polls and for 11 straight losses in a row. When she is President and running the country into the ground is she going to try and lay the blame at everyone else as well? In the debate the other night on MSNBC, she was asked why she was unable to produce the 500,000 jobs she promised she would create for the state of NY when running for the Senate in 2000. There was a net 35,000 LOSS in jobs and she blamed Al Gore for NOT getting elected. How sad is that?!?!?

I've heard that many times GLO, I think you're late to postings. Obama is always the victims why? Because the media is bias. They only show when people attack him, but they don't show when he attacks them.

Point in point -- look at his false accusation in his circulation of Hillary. Which, I might add has been "denounced" by his sources.

Why was less time spent on that? Obviously, because of the MEDIA.

The same way Obama critizes what's happening in Afganistan and yet hasn't held one meeting of the sub-committee he chairs on dealing with these issues because he's been a little busy right now. Good grief!

11 million voters, more than the numbers voted for Hillary, voted for Obama....on readging a blank screen?

If that is what she discovered so far...either all those 11 million are i?iots..or she is. Take your pick.

I guess putin (though I don't like him) guessed it somewhat rihgt: One without a head should not be running for the postion of head of state. Hillary's faliure to be able read what 11 millioin peole were able read makes me think she may not have anythig up there..even if she has a head.....Its the brain chamber of Hillary that is blank not the screen of Barak Obama.

He is a blank screen. How many of you that are running on the Obama wagon can say 100% without a doubt you know exactly what you are getting with Obama and provide the proof to back that up?

Moving on emotions and fancy saying dose not fix the problems of this land, most of you don't want to take the time to check on Obama's track record so to live in your fantasy feel good world you rather leave the screen blank, keep your fingers crossed while wishing for the best and vote.

She calls obama a blank screen and then doesn't see the contradiction when commenting on women projecting their own feelings on her.
Wouldn't that make her just as blank a screen as she accuses Obama of being?
What a loser.
And people actually think she would be a good leader??? right.

Truly amazing times we live in. That we even have someone like Obama so close to the presidency. Who would have thought to see so many voters so clearly not interested in experience or substance. So many voters being lead around by their emotions and promises of a near fairy tale future era by a man they have projected all their hopes and wishes on. A man of very little gravitas and substance whose only real skill is that of a gifted orator who has managed to cleverly re-work old political themes, as old as ancient Rome, into something new and exciting. Make no mistake, there is nothing new in what he says, once stripped of its charisma and hype, but he is just so lucky to be at that right place and time to benefit. To benefit from eight years of angst. To benefit from a media tripping over itself in adoration of his arrival. To benefit from decades of white liberal guilt. To benefit from an uncritical and unrealistic electorate. Yes, we live in interesting times. To those blinded by this politician, it will be years into the future before your blinders will come off. Let us all truly hope that this impending mistake, this potential Obama presidency, can be avoided if enough open their eyes and see Obama and the world for what it is. Otherwise one can only hope America survives the years ahead, to hopefully emerge not less of a nation than before.

He called himself a blank screen. Don't you get it?

Posted by: vdee | Feb 28, 2008 9:59:43 PM

Don't blame her...poor Hillary's brain chamber is bank... so she can't read what 11+ million were able to read and vote for Obama.

And don't blame few others on this blog who sees that screen blank as does Hillary.

This explains why she as been ut-smarted in votes..delegets..ideas..raising money...dealing with issues rather than crying...I am worried that she my become more dillusional after loosing the primary.

did you see the article on houstonpress called "Obama and Me"? it was written by a reporter that was just starting out and got to know Obama when he was as state senator. its an interesting piece.

YOU GO HILLARY!!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE CONVENTION - I AM WITH YOU!

Posted by: B Will | Feb 28, 2008 10:15:52 PM

Sam, you're so funny. Your messiah has said so many things that were not just offensive to Hillary, they were offensive to women. I won't repeat his words because I don't want to promote his version of "Hope" and unity. Because, before him, Democrats didn't unite for Democrats apparently. Now that Republicans are uniting with College students well, the world is a better place......Wish for the Change You Hope You Can Believe In.

Clinton is the best candidate, period. Obama is a newcomer who has not paid his dues in politics. He hasn't even been in the Senate for a term and he's already running for president. On the other hand, I am tired of people saying they want 'radical' change and following a Messiah, just because he is a great speaker. I look at deeds, not words. And I am also tired of listening to Obama supporters saying he had great judgment because he opposed the war in Iraq in 2002. Was he a U.S. Senator then? No. Moreover, that speech does not qualify him to lead the situation in Iraq. Lastly, he has voted to fund the war repeatedly, and has not led a single initiative to stop the war. So can anybody explain me exactly what kind of joke are we talking about here????
