Clinton Surrogate Hits Oprah
February 15, 2008 6:56 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: At a fundraiser on Friday afternoon, the mayor of Akron, Ohio, introduced Clinton and added a line about Obama's biggest celebrity backer, Oprah Winfrey. "Oprah probably knows more about TV than anybody in this room, but when it comes to governing, I just have a sense that Stephanie Tubbs Jones knows more about governing." Mayor Plusquellic then pointed out that Tubbs Jones has backed Clinton.
Clinton, who has received scrutiny for not discrediting surrogate remarks quickly in the past, thanked the mayor, but said, "I don't know about what the mayor said in terms of the Oprah connection here. I have to tell you Stephanie Tubbs Jones is unique, and I am thrilled to have her as a strong supporter of my campaign."
"I have the highest regard for my opponent," Clinton said about Obama. "We have been friends. I've campaigned for him. I think it is exciting to see the extraordinary campaign that he is running."
Although she initially praised the Illinois senator, Clinton later went on the offensive as she continued to hit Obama for not having a universal healthcare proposal, saying, "My opponent has given up on the fight before we’ve ever started. You know he sends out mailings that sound like they have been written by the health insurance industry and the republicans talk about oh we cant possibly get to universal healthcare."
Clinton continued by stating its not "Yes, we can,", but rather, "Yes, we will." She then began chanting, "Yes, we will," to the crowd.
Clinton said her experience as First Lady provided her with the knowledge of how to tackle the demands of the presidency. "Maybe because I have had the great honor and privilege of seeing that really hard job up close that I know that there is a big difference between speeches and solutions and talk and action."
Clinton spoke about manufacturing and touched on the subject of NAFTA, which has been a point of contention between Clinton and her opponent in the recent days. "We haven't been allowed to compete, because we haven't been given the opportunity to compete on a level playing field. I am going to take a bulldozer and level that playing field. We are going to renegotiate NAFTA. We are going to give a time out to trade agreements. There will not be any trade agreements when I am president, unless they have strong enforceable labor and environmental standards you can take to the bank."

I can't believe Hillary is so unoriginal that she stole Obama's campaign slogan...how shameful!

Maria, obviously you love the level to which America has descended, wants to keep it there, and can't imagine that there can be a new dawn in America, right?
The downside of the past 7 years is that Americans are of lowered self-esteem and lowered expectation.
If a candidate put for a bad plan, then by all means savage THE PLAN; but save the personal fight for the maniac muslims hiding out in the bad lands of Pakistan. They are the real enemies, not fellow Americans.
And this time Americans should be rallying around the those who want to 'change' the way Washington works; so that real solutions can be had in the areas of the National Treasury (which bush has given away to his greedy friends) affordable health care like most industrialized nations, and a 21st Century education that will allow Americans to compete with the rest of the well educated world.

Be critical all you want Hillary you and your staff now figure you can go negative all the way to the White House.
Barack Obama as the son of an immigrant father who left his family when he was two years old has overcome incredible odds. He is a man of obvious intellect and integrity. A fresh breeze to do away with the sixteen years of stank in the White House we have suffered through. Yes the Clinton years were better than the Bush ones but should we be proud of Bill? He left and the democrats lost the House of Representatives, the Senate and of course the White House. Not so great a legacy verdad?
Vote for Obama and our country will be viewed with respect again around the world and we will use our treasure for good like education, health care, and Americas infrastructure.
We are spilling blood daily and spending our hard owned cash in massive amounts for a war that should never have been fought. I am a Cuban American U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, my grandfather fought in WW1 and my son fought in Iraq. Barack Obama has it right that our enemies were right were we needed them in Afghanistan and we let them get away and now they are getting stronger regardless of what George W. And his surge b.s. tell you. Guns vs butter plain and simple. We need to vote for change before we are totally broke both financially and morally.
From a mixed racial background to President of the Harvard law review, to community organizer, to U.S. Senator, to President of the United States. This story is the American Dream in real life. Latinos vote for someone of mixed race born to a teen mother who took this start and made all of us immigrant children proud. SI SE PUEDE CON BARACK OBAMA SI SE PUEDE!! YES WE CAN INDEED!!
These are my opinions and I am sticking to them!

I have to laugh. No matter what Hillary Clinton says, the obama supporters will make a mountain of it and turn it into something totally different than the intent. Obama has no platform, has not come forth with plans and how he will inact policy, has celebrities endorsing him, is taking fund money and denying it (embedded?)continues to push the race card because he was the first to state that Bill Clinton is racist (when, in the Clinton presidency, did Bill Clinton ever show racisim?), his supporters have started vicious rumors about Clinton, soon McCain, and his supporters act as if its the first time they have heard anything about it and because he said it, its true.
How gulibble obama supporters are. Wait and see omamasheep, what happens if and when he gets nominated. You all will be surprised and what will be coming out about obama and all the proof along with the statements. I kind of feel sorry for you.

.... She then began chanting, "Yes, we will," to the crowd? Come on!! Obama does not chant "Yes We Can" to the crowds-- the people spontaneously break out in that and he has to wait for them to stop to continue.
Good grief, Hillary! Could you be any more clueless???

This is a contest for your votes Mr. Jordan Clinton, what's wrong with YES , WE WILL..... Is that out of limits ....What about Yes we should.....or Yes we could.... or better....Yes we better had....or the real clincher.....YES WE MUST....elect the best candidate for President.
P.S. Obama wins the award for the best showman on the campaign trail.but....
The award for the best person with the most publicised and credible solutions for US today is Hillary, no doubt.

You think she stole his slogan, how about her "green collar jobs" promise and her 60Billion infracstructure bank she cosponsored last year that he is now stating in his speeches. Turnaround is fair play. If he can do it, so can she. Grow up.

It's funny how people who follow Obama are being labelled "cult followers". It's almost like Clintonistas have nothing left but bitterness and slander to drive them. Oh wait. That is all that's left in the tank.
Posted by: Russell | Feb 15, 2008 7:47:39 PM
Russell: The Clinton's are very good at running on empty. I think there is still enough gas in the tank to overtake Mr. Obama on March 4th.

Do you make fun of the supervisor, or the woman, within your employ, that's above you.
I am referring to the men feel when they may sense a woman might be the Commander in Chief, or Head of their department.

There is a difference between Obama and Clinton. I do know where Hillary stands on issues, but not Obama. But I'm sure I will soon. Or when the Obama team can find enough time to copy the rest of Hillary's positions. So I'll vote for Hillary. I don't need the copy.

Tim Burton and Micheal Plouffe are the biggest mind game players I have ever seen . They will surely win the 'Joseph Gobbells' award for national propoganda.
Can you imagine it being 2008, and the american public can be HYPED into voting a forrest gump with 2 years of national experience as a junior senator in being PRESIDENT of the most dangerous country in the world?

Look at this interview about Rezko connection. Look at Obama's eye movements. He did not even look straight. His eyes are liar's eyes.

He lied.

There are two Jordan Clinton's? Well I agree with the one on another site. Not the one who claims to be; The "real" Jordan Clinton. I mean not at allllll.

Jordan - have to say, looks like I was right earlier, in my read of Democratic leadership signals to Clinton. Remember me saying if she resisted the call, the signals would become more overt?
This evening, Pelosi said superdelegates won't overturn the decision of party members, and Florida and Michigan delegates won't be seated, unless it was a situation in which they wouldn't affect the outcome.
That's about as public as it gets.
Posted by: Paul | Feb 15, 2008 9:33:16 PM
I cannot believe that the Clinton's can't say a single thing about Obama but the media and everyone else slams Hillary for every imagined thing she may have said that goes for Bill also. You people need to look and see what is going on here. The media wants Obama to win do bad that they have thrown ethics out the window. Doesn't anyone else wonder about this?
Posted by: jarr | Feb 15, 2008 9:35:44 PM
Quite frankly I am sick and tired of the media coverage and not making Obama accountable for what he says and how he flip/flops but claims "its important to be right from the beginning" I found countless news media reports where he contradicts himself. The lastest being with his original agreement with McCain on campaign money. Now he is not standing by his original agreement and taking a wait and see approach. This is cult like and insanity at its best. I will sit back and enjoy the show when the Republicans get a hold of the inexperienced, flip-flopping, "change you can believe in", hot air with no substance Obama
anyone but Obama 08
Posted by: Joanne | Feb 15, 2008 10:06:11 PM
Check your facts Obama was willing to agree to only accept public campaign funds if others would do the same. No one did not even McCain. Dont distort the facts...Obama08
Posted by: Kevin | Feb 15, 2008 10:29:19 PM
OMG, give a freakin break. Bashing Hillary over something she said, because Obama said it first. Well I like her slogan better.
Yes we will means more than yes we can.
Getting upset over this is too funny. How about Obama taking her "green collar jobs" and calling it his own.
You guys can keep attcking Hillary. It is not going to make a difference to me. No matter how much you shove Obama down my throat I will not ever vote for him. I want my kids to have future, THEY ARE THE ONES THAT INSPIRE ME!!
