Clinton Talks Guns and Electability 30,000 Feet in the Air
February 02, 2008 9:25 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: In her first press availability in the air -– on a plane from California to Arizona -- Sen. Hillary Clinton took aim at Sen. Barack Obama's conflicting positions on gun control.
"He has to speak to his own record, which has obviously changed over a relatively short period of time," Clinton said in response to a reporter's question "My understanding is that really within the space of four or five years, he’s had several positions on a number of really challenging issues. You’ll have to ask him why he has so rapidly changed position from year to year."
Clinton was pressed on the language she uses in her speeches conveying that voters doesn’t have to take a leap of faith on her implying that Senator Obama is a risk.
"I’m not asking voters to take a leap of faith," Clinton said. "You know where I stand, you know my record, I’ve been vetted, I’ve been tested -– probably more than anybody in the country who is in politics right now –- and I think that gives me a great advantage, both now and in the general election."
Clinton says she feels strong going into Super Tuesday.
"I feel confident that we are doing well in a lot of states where there are a complicated set of challenges from one end of the country to the other," she said.
Clinton did not disclose what states she feels particularly good in, nor did she discuss states she is concerned about, and she did not address any concern about Obama's gaining momentum in the Latino community.
"I feel very good about the support I have," she said. "I think we’re going to do very well on Tuesday across the board. But we’ll wait and see because, as I think we’ve learned in this campaign, the only polls that count are the ones that people actually vote out."
Clinton also looked ahead to the Super Bowl and the primaries on Tuesday. "I’m not only looking at the super bowl, but Super Tuesday, and I’m expecting the New York team to win both."

"Please. This is coming from Hillary "I Was for the War Before I Was Against It" Clinton? How's that going to play against McCain? "
That was John Kerry, Obama's supporter, that was for the war before he was against it. Don't dump everything bad about Obama on Hillary.

Obama should go learn of presidency in the background and stop pushing himself ahead, jeopardizing all of us!
Posted by: Strong79 | Feb 3, 2008 2:57:06 PM
Ahh repeating the failed social and financial polices that ended the Soviet Union. Yeah, that should do a good job in finishing the rest of us off. Thanks Hilliary--I mean Bill, or whoever gets to act like the President the majority of the time your in office. Have to feel sorry for Obama. But being a black man just aint enough to the "first black president." For them "Bubba" overrules you no matter even if you REALLY are the first black VP, in her administration.

Ever meet a good con-man, the real good ones hide behnind closed doors and place blame and fault on others while twisting words they have said to suit the need at the time! Unfortunately people like nice words and don't believe in reality, which is feeding Obama so well in popularity! Check out the facts on the man, the Republicans have and Swiftboat will be nothing compared to the onslaught that will rain down on Obama!
Claims he makes:
No Lobbyist money-Lie taken in millions from Lobbyists!
Against the war-lie Stated he doesn't know how he'd have voted IF he was in the US Senate when the Bill was voted upon!
Transparency- Lie Dirty Money- Why was Rezko's trial delayed when he wanted it moved up?
Transparency- Lie Dirty Money-Nadhmi Auchi, Baath Party member, banker for Saddam, Iraq weapons supplier to Iraq, Obama Funder and lots more!
Transparency- Lie Dirty money- Norman Hsu contributions kept by Obama!
Transparency- Lie Dirty Money - Giannoulias, Chicago mob banker, tied to crime families, participant in mortgage fraud and Obama friend and major fund bundler!
Transparency- Lie -Kenya- ODM party leader Obama's cousin, Obama campaigned for him in '06, ODM behind killing spree in Kenya after loss in election!
Transparency- Lie - Religion, Schooled as a Muslim when a child while living in Africa!
Against Maytag Mexican relocation- Lie - Major contributor the Crown family to Obama, Mr. Crown a director of Maytag!
Healthcare choice is best - Lie - U of Chicago hospital where Michelle Obama was promoted to new created VP position and tripled salary less than 2 months after Obama became a US Sen and the same UCH that refused uninsured patients till proof of money in bank!
Transparency and Change from someone who hides his record and his dealings are mostly hard to trace, his Illinois agendas and papers have been destroyed, because if ONLY VOTERS KNEW! But no one asks for answers, so be conned folks!

I'd like to hear a little more about what "me" wrote. Why isn't all of this coming out in the press. I knew about some of it but this is exactly what I was saying in another post about everyone having skeletons. I think the Clintons are getting a raw deal. We were prosperous during Bills administration. I do believe Senator will meet a lot of oposition with the media and other Americans. I pray she can get her universal healthcare passed. I have been a taxpayer all of my life. Now that I'm 55 and sick I can't get healthcare.

Evan, good point. Lincoln also did not make it to the Presidency on his first, nor second, nor third time running. So, we'll see you all in 2016! Try, try again.

Evan, yes the US has not been the US for a billion years. However, all of your historical facts are completely inaccurate and far reaching. I know, I am a history teacher.....There are too many mistakes for me to correct. It is beautiful that you're trying, don't give up.

Terry, I am in such agreement with you, and Obama is three years older than me! He is a Baby Boomer. The traitor! What, like we're all dead or something? I'm a Generation X/Baby Boomer, 1964, the cutoff point. In any case, what 50, 60, 70+ year olds don't have a vested interest in the country? We're supposed to hand off our future to some college kids? Uh! Uh!, not me!

Kathy, I tried to follow your post, but it doesn't make sense. I am not sure what your point is.
Posted by: irma | Feb 3, 2008 8:51:24 PM
Exactly Tom, and that's precisely why the Republicans promote Obama so enthusiastically. A major RED FLAG!
Posted by: irma | Feb 3, 2008 8:54:02 PM
Oh EVANNNN; we don't hate the Clintons, and we're the ones who kept Bill in for eight yeeeearrrs. We're still here.
Posted by: irma | Feb 3, 2008 8:56:39 PM
Andy; good job using Bill's quote, not Hillary.
Posted by: irma | Feb 3, 2008 9:01:18 PM
If Obama wins, I and several million Seniors will vote for Mccain.

Hey you there don't mock at Obama. He is a wise man with good vision and leadership capability to take this country inton the right direction which we need right now. We are tired with the Bushes and Clintons old policies. The page needs to be changed in the WHITE HOUSE and this can only be done by BARACK OBAMA. He inspires women, men, whites, blacks, old and young people. This is a kind of leadership America needs now. May God bless America

Sounds like a lot of people on this site are afraid of the Neocons. What did Obama do when Hillary asked the hard questions the media wouldn't ask. He became a victim and everyone came to his defense calling her mean, witch etc.
Query: We went to war in Iraq became the Senate, Media and US did not ask the hard questions. Now we are about to screw up worst because nobody is allowed to ask the hard questions of Obama to find how who he is. Shame on us, twice.

What gets me worried is how Hillary speaks of the 2nd amendment as "gun control". It's a "right" not a privilage like a driver's license is - big difference. Please people, understand the proper relationship between We the People and government.
