George H.W. Bush to Endorse McCain
February 15, 2008 10:47 AM
ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Former President George H.W. Bush will endorse Sen. John McCain for president on Monday in Houston, Texas, sources tell ABC News.
The endorsement from the former president is expected to increase pressure on former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee to end his bid for the GOP nomination.
While McCain is comfortably ahead of Huckabee in the race for delegates, Huckabee's presence in the race and ability to score a large chunk of the vote among social conservatives has weakened McCain's standing by fueling stories about conservative dissatisfaction with the senator who has bucked party orthodoxy in the past on issues like immigration, President Bush's tax cuts, and campaign finance regulation.
The endorsement from the former president follows one from former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, the former president's son and brother of the current president.
President George W. Bush, who competed with McCain for the GOP nomination in 2000, has not endorsed McCain but he has expressed gratitude to his one-time rival for his resolute support for the Iraq war.
ABC News' Ron Claiborne contributed to this report.

An endorsement from the former President who begat the Toxic Texan = Supper with the Borgia's - RSVP bring your own coffin.
This must be good news for the Democratic campaign.

Who else was he going to endorse?

The only ones questioning McCain`s conservative credentials are the Neocon parasites like Rush, Coulter and Romney who are only interested in keeping their death grip on the throat of the legitimate Repub Party.

Given the popularity of the Bush name is this necessarily a good thing?

Of course he waited until there was a projected winner. He would've looked stupid if he endorsed a loser when the race was just beginning. Just goes to show, the Reps had no real candidates from the start. GO OBAMA!

Yep, that should definately help McCain. Especially with Bush's ringing endorsement of Clemen's innocence.

It had to be done; But McCain has abandoned all of his principle to become W. so it's not a surprise. He has won the contest to be the next extremist from the Republican party. And is certain to lose in November, to either his Senate colleague from NY, or ILL. Obama campaigns on what we can do, McCain campaigns on what we can't. Clinton plays liberals lip service, while she hawks on foriegn policy. Either of them have more executive experience, or confidence in the American people than McCain. Admittedly all John knows is war. Economy, health care. Education, his answer is sacrifice of freedom in name of security. Without freedom, you have NO security. Perpetual war, is NOT a plan for safety. Not to mention it will bankrupt our country, and our economy will be far more worse off than even now. The Republicans have sealed their fate. And they have lost the country. Why anyone, would want to run for carrying out a third BUSH term is dumbfounding... Or just plain DUMB! (FYI: Yes, I am a registered Republican) No matter what the Democrats do they can't lose this one. (And even if they tried the media wouldn't let them)

I WOULDN'T TAKE A BILLION DOLLARS FROM THE BUSH FAMILY EVEN FOR FREE. THOSE LOT ARE JUST WHAT WE NEVER WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH EVER. BYE BYE BUSH. BYE BYE MCCAIN. NO MORE.

This has to be the most shocking news of the day! At least McCain knows he has the full support of the house of Saud.

In my opinion, the Republicans need to set this election Out! They know theres not a chance in the world, a Republican will be President this next Election.

I have seen the photo of the Houston, Texas Obama’s Campaign Office in which a Cuban flag with an embossed photo of Che Guevara on it is displayed.
I have called the office to demand an explanation for this display of anti-American and communist showing with no proper answer.
I have heard Mr. Obama’s response to it, but it was not satisfactory. Does he or doesn’t he? If his statements are true, then he is connected with all his people, or doesn’t he?
After considerable analysis of the issues, I had come to the conclusion that Mr. Obama is a dangerous candidate for the presidency of this wonderful country. His speeches are just beautiful empty platitudes aimed to the poor masses that unfortunately, are not very well educated. But more disturbing yet is the fact that the media is playing along the game with him and they are supposed to know better! How sad!
Mr. Obama’s speeches have a scaring similarity to the many ones that I have heard from the mouth whose picture is proudly displayed in the senator’s campaign office in Houston, Texas, as well as of Fidel Castro himself. These speeches sound exactly like a communist propaganda, and I believe they are.
As a response, I would say to Mr. Obama:
YES WE CAN! Hope that people see you for what you really are, not good for the presidency.
YES WE CAN! Dream and realize the American dream by been honest good producers that work hard and intelligently, not asking what the government is going to give us when we make bad decisions or mistakes.
By backing our president when he tries to defend us of the many enemies here and abroad that envy us and showing that we stand together behind him we will obtain the respect that other countries should feel for us.
I want explanation to the several dangerous Muslim ties of Mr. Obama’s here and abroad beginning with his own church connections.
No, I don’ like wars either, but when religious fanatics want to destroy us, I like a leader that takes steps to defend us and we should all stand behind him until we are victorious.
We should fight for what is right to defend ourselves until victory is attained and NEVER SURRENDER. And that means ALL OF US.
In WWII every person helped with the war effort, women, children, and older people. If we do the same now we can win this awful war much sooner and earn the respect of other countries.
In contrast, compare the transparency of Mr. McCain. He will tell you the truth even if you happen not to like it, and I am convinced that this conflict will not last as long when our enemies see our determination to stand together behind our leader until victory is reached.
WE SHOULD NEVER SURRENDER!!!

kinda reminds me of the republicans handshaking and kissing in cuba in the GODFATHER movie...make sure he understands the code of omerta 41

I find it difficult to believe that any republican candidate, especially John McCain who's basically the sequel to Bush Jr, will succeed in changing or correcting anything that is wrong with this country, when they have already had seven years to do so, but instead have merely perpetuated and inflamed even more problems at home and abroad with their incompetence and corrupt policies. Give me a break, people. Your same old spins on terrorism and how you will protect the country are falling on deaf (and hopefully smarter) ears this time around.

Vote for the republican party, and you loose your freedoms. Vote for the democats and you loose your life at the hands of terrorists. I'll take my chances with the democrats. Vote OBAMA! I don't sleep well anyway.
