George H.W. Bush to Endorse McCain
February 15, 2008 10:47 AM
ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Former President George H.W. Bush will endorse Sen. John McCain for president on Monday in Houston, Texas, sources tell ABC News.
The endorsement from the former president is expected to increase pressure on former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee to end his bid for the GOP nomination.
While McCain is comfortably ahead of Huckabee in the race for delegates, Huckabee's presence in the race and ability to score a large chunk of the vote among social conservatives has weakened McCain's standing by fueling stories about conservative dissatisfaction with the senator who has bucked party orthodoxy in the past on issues like immigration, President Bush's tax cuts, and campaign finance regulation.
The endorsement from the former president follows one from former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, the former president's son and brother of the current president.
President George W. Bush, who competed with McCain for the GOP nomination in 2000, has not endorsed McCain but he has expressed gratitude to his one-time rival for his resolute support for the Iraq war.
ABC News' Ron Claiborne contributed to this report.

Well, McCain gets the kiss of death. The Bush's are so far removed from reality it would be funny if it weren't so sad.

The way things are shaping up, it looks like the only way for McCain to lose this thing is with the endorsement of Rush, Coulter and their fellow Neocons.

As much damage as "The Shrub" and old man Bush have done to our country, an endorsement from either BUSH is the kiss of death. I am figuring out they only represent their bought and paid for party anyhow - The GOP (Group of Pricks)I would vote for anyone but Juan McAmnesty!

I still believe in miracles, and I believe Gov. Huckabee is the next President of the USA.....
He is the only true conservative, and if Christians pray before voting, they will have to vote for Mike Huckabee..
He is the only candidate that wants to pass a bill to reverse Roe vs Wade..... And end the horrible murders of innocent babies every day..
He is the only candidate that believes marraige should be between one man ,& one woman.. McCain voted against the Defense of Marraige Amendment..
He is the only candidate that studies the Bible and lives by it.. He is the only candidate with qualifications to lead our country...
Christians, do you really think God would have you vote liberal... McCain has said that he had nothing against gay marraiges, if they had a ceremony.

The more I see Mike Huckabee's relentless determination to give voting Americans a choice the more impressed I am with the man.
I like to see an under dog try as hard as he can to make a seemingly impossible come from behind win, even if he looses, the effort is inspiring.
One would think a Vietnam vet would appreciate Americans excersizing their freedom of choice in picking their nations potential leader.
Go for it, this is what this country is really all about.

McCain will surely lose against Obama in November and here are the reasons.
1) He got endorsed by a Bush
2) He is 72
3) He puts people asleep
4) He's been inside Washington 4ever
5) He has old ideas
6) He says we'll be in Iraq for 100 yrs.
7) He can't compete with Obama's speech.
8) He can't win over the South
9) McCain is seeking Bush's 3rd term.
10) He's not charismatic like Huckabee

john Mcain will in novemebr by a least (amybe more) a 2-1 margin. dont insult the intelligence of the american voters. democrats are running to obama to ditch hillary, then they will vote for Mcain in huge numbers.

Wonder how much campaign money is coming from the Carlyle Group??? If McCain wins, be very afraid!! 4 more years of Bush politics. I also am curious abotu how McCain feels about teh North American Union?.. Is he aware that most people in America and Canada are against it?.. Does he care?..

Bush Sr. is far different than his son. Bush Sr. is a much more moderate man who had no scandals while in office.

I am discouraged by so many people hurling petty insults based on internet information rather than reality. Instead of insulting candidates, we should be thankful for an election between McCain and Obama. They offer clear choices, articulated policies, and both are generally committed (to this point) to working with members of the opposition party for the betterment of America.
As Americans we finally have an election between candidates who do not preach hatred at one another. So why sit here in a forum and do that? We should move past the politics of the past two administrations. Either with McCain -OR- Obama, America will be in better shape in 2009 than it has been for the past sixteen years.

It looks like the Republican establishment realizes that Mike Huckabee really does have a chance at winning, so they're doing everything they can, using the media, to make people think John McCain has already one.

Any Bush endorsement has a way of becoming a kiss of death.

This is good news for Obama. He just needs to run ads that Dubya and Dubya's father endorses McCain. If you want the last 8 yrs of Dubya's policies to continue just vote for McCain.

McCains a warmonger like junior. He appeals to the people who think the boggeyman is out to get them. Sooo scared![Bush supporters]
Posted by: AJ | Feb 15, 2008 2:51:29 PM
George DUBYA said "McCain is a true conservative" His daddy endorsed the guy. But, if you were planning on voting for McCain, don't let them keep you away from the polls.

I voted for Huckabee because of his sincere moral grounding. I felt that he would be able to bring a lot of good discussion to the table either with Clinton or Obama even if he didn't win the general election. He came across in the debates better than any of the other candidates. Unfortunately, he didn't have the financial and political clout. Plus too many people are afraid of his unashamed faith.
I believe on General Election day there will be not one red state in the union if it's McCain vs. Obama.

Too many people have been duped by the Bushes, not me! Junior is worse then his daddy for sure. Hang your heads Bush supporters, the damage you've enabled is enormous! I know you'll vote for MCain, you'd vote for Hitler if he was running on the GOP ticket! Such lemmings!Sooo scared! Decades more of wars with McCain, with the economy in shambles,if McCain wins.
Posted by: AJ | Feb 15, 2008 3:33:44 PM
THAT COULD BE THE KISS OF DEATH GETTING AN ENDORSEMENT LIKE THAT. :)
Posted by: Kim | Feb 15, 2008 3:35:19 PM
'john' said: "Its funny with all the Bush haters out there how was he elected only once but twice!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmm"
C'mon, John. More people voted against W the first time... it was the Supreme Court's failure to remain impartial that put him in the White House. He DID win in '04, due to the Dems poor choice for a nominee... and the Swift Boat distortions.
So... George the First endorses McCain AFTER the nomination is all but assured. I'm shocked. I was sure he would have led the Draft Mikey B. campaign.
